As a dental assistant, I would guess that she has a dental abcess (badly infected, rotten tooth) that would DEFINATELY cause swelling like that. Seen it many times. She looks like she has VERRRRRYYY bad teeth in most pics.

Mumps? (I think once you get the puffy face you aren't infectious with the mumps, it's before the symptoms appear that you can spread it. I know someone who caught them, yes in this day and age, and not that long ago.) I'd bet it's to do with her teeth though, maybe dental work? Maybe could cause the swelling? Or she's going to get dental work once the anti-biotic course for the abcesses have the infections under control?

This has happened to me (major facial swelling) when I drank alcohol while taking antibiotics (that said not to combine with alcohol). I know it seems weird, but allergic reactions (or reactions to combining things that you shouldn't combine) often affect the face.
