Christina Aguilera and Nicole Richie both recently debuted their new infants to the world.
But which cover sold more????
Nicole's! By a lot!
Richie's cover is on track to sell 1.8 million copies. That's about 500,000 more than Aguilera's!
It would be safe to say that Xtina is a bigger star, but…
So, why did her pics sell less copies???
Why does there seem to be more interest in Harlow Winter Kate Madden? One magazine insider said part of it could come down to the moms’ fan bases. “Christina historically doesn’t do that well on covers,” said the source, who cites poor sales of her wedding photo issue in OK!, and less-than-stellar sales of her nude photo shoot in the January 2008 Marie Claire.
That might be true, but Nicole Richie doesn’t seem like an obvious home run on the cover, either. “There’s also a greater element of curiosity with Nicole,” the source conceded. “She’s gone public about being a heroin addict. Her boyfriend is covered in tattoos. By default, she’s got the more interesting baby. People want to see how she settles down. They want to see what kind of baby someone with her background has.”
Also, Christina married a "regular" fella.
Nicole, meanwhile, made sure her babydaddy was a celebrity, Joel Madden.
There's just more interest there!
Also remember that Nicole's cover had the pics from the Oscars too! So was it really Nicole that sold the mags? I doubt that.

I personaly bought the nicole copy because she has been through so much. I know it was all self induced - heroin, anorexia, alcoholism,not to mention been linked to paris hilton in any way - and when she got pregnant she changed herself around and i just wanted t see what had become of her. christina is, well, normal, as far as a superstar can be. she didnt have any troubles to overcome so i wasnt bothered by her. well done to nicole and joel, such a cutie little Harlow. xxx

Nicoles sold more because Angelina Jolie's pregnancy was confirmed on the cover as well. Xtina got jipped on her cover AND , it was an UNATTRACTIVE pic of her , if that is even possible. Also, everyone wanted to know if Nicole's baby would look like a strange alien baby, just like mom. GO Hillary, come on Ohio and Texas, give the girl a chance!!!! I bought Nicole's yesterday but not for the baby stuff, I bought it for the Oscar fashion coverage. I think it has to do more with what else the magazine has in it, not just what's on the cover.

Although Christine is a talented artist (she can really sing), she is not the idol of many. Her "dirty Xtina" days will continue to haunt her. Having your boobies (implants I might add) popping out of everything you wear these days (post-baby) is simply not attractive. I'm very happy for her, her husband and the new baby but I would rather stand in line at the grocery store and read the article/see the pictures for free than dole out my hard-earned money for these over-paid, over-hyped celebrities. Can someone please remind me again why Nicole Ritchie is famous?
Nicole's baby is absolutely beautiful! She is going to be gorgeous when she grows up. Christina's baby was cute, too. But out of the two, Nicole is more interesting. She seems more personable, where as Christina always seemed cold in nature, much like Paris Hilton. I'm looking forward to seeing JLO's and Halle Barry's babies, they are going to be gorgeous as well.

I disagree. I purchased both and must say that Nicole's interview was much more in depth and personal. The way she spoke and discussed Harlow was much more heart and sincere vs Christina whose article was more like a home showcase than focus on her baby. She was more interested in flaunting herself and her home and barely spoke about her pregnancy and baby, her interview was also a lot shorter than Nicole's. I personally enjoyed reading Nicole's issue much more than Christina's. Christina does not seem to be in the motherly bliss stage as much as Nicole and Joel are, they are just too cute and you can tell they will be amazing parents. Christina for instance who preferred to have a C section rather than natural birth for the sake of not taking the risk of vaginal tearing was just so artificial and celebrity-ish to me. I related to Nicole's issue much more. Christina is more concerned about her body and looks, she should tone down the makeup and overly bleached hair. When you opened her issue it looked more like it should have been an issue in "House" magazine instead.

Christina has always had the talent. People wrote her off years ago and she just kept doing her thing. She is the one with the pipes and who Tony Bennett did a duet with and that alone will carry her further than those the press always pitted her against. She is a fighter and would never go down tragically like Britney. She was trashed for being 'Dirty' and having a healthy views on sex and working her sex appeal. But she didn't flash her vajayjay for cheap publicity and someone else's profit. She controlled her image and made it work for her. She is smart and would have no probelms with a career into her 50s much like Cher does now if she wanted. Britney, Paris, and Nicole and most of today's singers do not have the talent to even consider such a feat.

I think the interest is because one had a boy and one had a girl. Girls are the ones who deal with the pressure to be beautiful, boys not so much. Also Nicole is biracial (no she isn't Lionel's biological daughter, but her dad was a black man) and she's with a caucasian guy. So yeah there's a lot of interest to know what this kid is going to look like. She looks a lot like Nicole, even though Nicole can sometimes pass for caucasian, her daughter doesn't look fully-caucasian.
