I'm a Mariah lamb, but in masses, we don't go to other people's thing dissing and throwing up our opinion. Yes, you have the special few (everybody does), but y'all are ridiculous.
If Rock With U & Love don't pick up ASAP, this will be a major flop for Janet. She didn't start heavy promo until last week, but even that was kinda light.

Mariah always does heavy international promo at least a month before her album drops and then keeps going for months after the album drops all over the world. If she isn't in the US, she is in Europe or Japan, and occasionally South America.
So far, she has been calling radio stations daily for nearly 2 weeks. She is starting to do magazines, and premiered her video on TV herself. She will be taping a special for BET this Friday is already scheduled to be on American Idol a week before her album drops.
Also, she wants to start a tour in September (nothing official yet)

Not hating on Madonna because I consider myself a fan…but at least Janet came with a fresh single that wasn't a Timbaland reject demo, which is basically more Justin Timberlake singing than it is Madonna. I've heard 3 tracks from Madonna's "Hard Candy" (stupid ass title for someone 50 years old) and they all fuckin suck.

Okay I'm getting a little tired of people either talking about Janet needing to sit her ass down because she won't sell as many records as she used to sell in the past or saying oh we're worried that this next album won't sell that much instead of one acknowledging the things that this woman has accomplished and even recognizing that she has broken records that still to this day have not been surpassed.
So what is Janet may never reach the success she had in the 90s, for this woman to have been around for 30+ years (including the first two albums and the television shows) and still command as much media attention, sell out magazines (US Weekly), still have album anticipation, and still debut in the top 2, that's saying something. I mean how many people that have been around for a while and release albums now can still command as much attention as Janet? I mean Diana Ross releases an album and sure she gets some media attention but not as much as Janet and doesn't even sell as much but who cares right? Cause she's still Diana Ross. Stevie Wonder comes out with "A Time 2 Love," it doesn't sell that much and he doesn't get as much media attention as Janet does, but so what he's still Stevie Wonder, and the list goes on, so why can't the same thing be said about Janet? And sure 20 Y.O didn't sell a lot of units but "Call On Me," was number one on the R&B charts for a few weeks which marked her 15th number one on that chart, "So Excited," marked her 17th number one dance hit which I believe put her right behind Madonna for female artists who had number ones on that chart.
It's really a good album! My sister bought me a copy of it yesterday. People should listen to this album before they log onto perezhilton and talk smack about it.

178,000 isn't terribly impressive. In her worst debut - even poorer sales than the last two duds.
I downloaded this album not expecting much and was pleasantly surprised. It's definately better than her last two albums, but still so far from the perfection that was The Velvet Rope.

This CD is really excellent. After a couple not so memorable albums, Janet finally got back into her groove!
Slow music week. 180,000 is shitty numbers for the amount of promotion they put into it. That coupled with the fact that it will drop well over 60% in sales next week is a flop in the making. That was all the Janet fans buying it, not new people interested in her. Of course she will have big week numbers. It will tank after this week. Bet on it. Her songs aren't getting radio play, her appearances have been disasters, and her music is no where near where it was. For a newcomer to the game, this would be good numbers, but this is Janet Jackson…these are NOT good number for an established artist of her calibre and NOT comeback numbers. She is indeed, done.
