Ugh. More Reality on TV.

Sigh. When will the reality cow runneth dry?! Apparently not anytime soon on NBC!

Look at all the reality fun headed your way!

American Gladiators (May 12 with new episodes) - an update on the classic…recycling at its best?!

Last Comic Standing (May 22) - American Idol for comics!

Nashville Star (June 9) - American Idol for wannabe country stars, hosted by Hannah Montana's dad, Billy Ray Cyrus.

Celebrity Circus (June 11) - smells like Circus of the Stars from the 80's with a Dancing With the Stars twist! Celebs train with experts and are judged by circus pros. More recycling! But we'll probably watch!

America's Got Talent (June 24) - school talent show meets American Idol!

The Baby Borrowers (June 25) - birth control TV! Five teenage couples are taken on a rollercoaster ride of adult responsibility and are forced to experience parenting firsthand.

Six reality shows kicking off on the Peacock in the span of just over a month.

Seriously…six?!

Will you be watching any of these shows?

I have never watched a reality show. I hate them. Except for that choir one…I watched a little of that.

Nashville Star has actually been on for a few years on some NBC owned station and has produced better artists than American Idol, not just singers but songwriters - like Miranda Lambert, who was the runner up a few years ago.

Not a fat chance in hell. I am so sick of reality TV. American Idol, Survivor, and Top Model are the only reality shows worth watching in my opinion.

I think Baby Borrowers appears head and shoulders above the other shows. The early buzz I have heard about it has been good.

I've actually watched the two series of this program on the BBC, which was brilliant. It gave the couples of 15 to 17 year olds a reality check for their parenting skills (mostly nihil) and their oh- so wonderful relationship.
They all said in the beginning that it couldn't be so hard to raise children and that they wouldn't mind getting pregnant now. Most of them had never even lived together! Imagine learning what it's like to live with your bf or gf for the first time and being faced with diapers, puke and crying.
For a few days each, they had to look after babies, then toddlers, then 6 - 9 year olds, then teenagers and finally an elderly person in need of care.

Incidentally, most couples broke up a few weeks/months after the program was filmed. One bf even abandoned his gf during the program and left her by herself to finish the "show". Very realistic…
Even the couples who stayed together said afterwards that having babies was out of the question for now.
BTW - nobody is "forced to experience parenting firsthand". They chose to have the opportunity to learn for life from taking part in this program.

Re: blondie – You are so right. How can we get that "M" in their company name removed??? MTV does not deserve their own name anymore. I hate Dutch MTV (I live in Amsterdam). The alternative is "MTV New", which plays (mostly British!) tunes all day, without commercials, but I have to pay to have the channel.

lol, the last 3 are just kinda bought from british tv, celebrity circus (or circ de celebrite as sky one called it over here) was bloody awful americas got talent (just swapping britain with america) isnt too bad but do you really want MORE simon cowell on your screens… the baby borrowers is the pick f the bunch.. you get to laugh at chavs making idiots out of themselves (ok maybe that wasnt quite the point)

    118

We have cirque celebrite in britain and its acually really good, even tho its filled with z listers, the stunts they do and watching them swing around by there ankles each week is pretty fun. It also helps theres usually a young buck with killer biceps, mmmm mmmmm!!

celebrity circus omg what are these networks thinking??????!!!!!!!!!! that is the worst idea in tv history and i watch a lottttt of tv, whoever watchs that needs help…..

  21. Leah says – reply to this

    121

I'll probably watch The Baby Borrowers it seems like it would be pretty interesting. NBC has to have all these reality shows because they don't have anything else. The only good shows they have in their lineup are the Thursday night comedies and then Friday Night Lights, which they'll more than likely cancel. NBC wouldn't know good TV if it slapped them in the face.

    122

Yes I will be watching Last Comic Standing. Haven't missed a season yet. After all of the singing and dancing shows a sistah needs a good laugh…HOLLA

    Re: f23ghost – #112
How right you are, ghost! "The Deadliest Catch" is the best reality tv show out there because it IS reality, not some scripted bullshit fit only for idiots and ditzy teenagers with sub-par intelligence. Those guys put their lives and bodies on the line every time they go out to fish for crab. And the images the photographers manage to catch are scary and amazing. It's an outstanding example of what tv can and should be! People who have cable or satellite should definitely check it out on Discovery.

umm i just clicked on the link for the baby borrower, honestly no a bad concept. teen pregos need to wake up anyways, but it says there gonna get to babysit a baby, toddler, teen, & SENIOR CITIZEN… tell me its a typo PLEASE! they just ruined an almost good thing.

    125

Baby Borrowers- was taken from a Dutch Program with a similar name (Baby Te Huur). I do not know if they will follow the same format (babytehuur.nl)- I highly doubt that young couples will cook and clean and be as self sufficient as they are on this show. But nontheless it is interesting to see their interaction with all the age ranges- babies (sometimes twins) - all the way up to teenagesand how it affects their own relationships.

Seriously? A Circus of the Stars remake? I didn't even like that show when I was 10. I remember Dana Plato flying around on the trapeze and thinking it was the dumbest shit I had ever seen. Now, if they put Gary Busey in a cannon, I may watch.
