Every sibling plays a 'role' in the family. In the Baldwin brood Alec must be the 'smart' one. His brother, Stephen, is obviously that one you only wanna see once a year - and even then, the only way you can stomach it is after spiking your egg nogg with lots of booze and taking a Valium!
Thankfully, though Alec knows how to put Stephen in his place.
The 'dumb' one made news when he called in to the Howard Stern show recently voicing his support for Mike Huckabee and voicing his displeasure with the idea of gay marriage:
"I don’t believe that gay marriage is in line with God’s Word, which is found in the Bible," says Stephen. "So, what I think doesn’t matter; what I believe is what’s in the Bible and the Bible says that gay marriage is not acceptable."
Alec responded to his brother's ignoramous comment to gay mag The Advocate, saying:
"Well, in the modern political world, people like that — whether or not I'm related to them — only help us raise money. They want to ban gay marriage because those people are incapable of having a biological family — that's their only argument. You can ban gay marriage, but if you're going to make it fair, then you have to ban marriage for everybody else who won't produce children. But they just single out groups of people that they hate."

The argument, "Gay marriage is wrong because it says so in the Bible" is a flawed argument because not everyone is approaching the subject of gay marriage from a Christian point of view, thus making that argument irrelevent for the numerous people in America who practice other religions or no religion (or for those Christians that are respectful of other people's right to exist in a way that makes them happy).
So it's quite an old argument, and, a stupid argument because it's easy to counter argue with something like, "I don't believe in God or the Bible, so doesn't that make that argument irrelevent to me?"
However: I find that many loud-mouthed Christians are the most bigoted, close-minded people in the world, so I guess we'll keep hearing the "God says it's wrong" argument about everything, from Gay marriage to abortion because apparently their heads are too thick to comprehend that some people thing the concept of GOD is complete bullshit, and some peopel approach life from a perspective which does not include any notion of a Supreme Being.
Come on, fag-haters, find a new fucking argument. Perhaps one that a non-Christian, or an open-minded and respectful Christian, can understand. Until then, you will more-than-likely keep coming accross in the media as bigoted ignorant losers.
I guess arguments like this keep any sort of "debate" from happening because it's pretty hard to debate a point which presupposes its own validity.

I don't know what you've been reading, but the bible is very clear on the act of homosexuality as a sin, and it is many times in the bible.

Perez, if you have any faith or belief in God, then you should also believe the Bible is GOD'S WORD. Um…. I've actually read the ENTIRE Bible and people us it out of context, repeatedly. In the Bible when they use words like gay and abomination they are speaking to an OLDER man (or woman) who preys on a YOUNGER (not of age) boy (or girl). They are not speaking to 2 consenting adults who are of the same sex in a relationship.

Definition of the word MARRIAGE:
The legal union of a man and woman as husband and wife.
The state of being united to a person of the opposite sex as husband or wife in a consensual and contractual relationship recognized by law.
You can't make a dog become a cat just because you want to, or you think you have a right to.
People of the same sex are not "married". Call it something else. Make up a new word for it, or call it "Civil Union".
But it NOT being married. The meaning of it is already taken.

I think Stephen has a right to his opinion and beliefs. I do NOT believe we all should have to suddenly support gay rights. That's BS. Here are the facts about gay marriage..
Gay Marriage should be a non-issue. In the USA we have a policy of "separation of Church and State." Gay Marriage is being denied based religious principals. Where is the "separation of Church and Sate" with this issue? It is up to each individual religious faction to say whether or not they would allow Gay Marriage, but there is absolutely no reason that Gay Community should not be allowed Civil Ceremonies. Religious belief should not be a part of this issue (See Below*) yet somehow it is. Where are we going wrong? How are we a country allowing these men/women to have their Constitutional rights continually denied?

I have been working since I was 13 years old, I pay my taxes, follow the laws of this land, contribute to charities and believe that while everyone has a right to say what they think, no one should be deluded into thinking that Christian conservatives don't have the right to our beliefs. If you don't believe the teachings of God and Jesus, then that's your perogative. But don't claim Christianity and then behave or support behavior that directly contradicts the teachings of God. As Christians, we are taught to love all people, but not to support or condone sinful behavior. That doesn't make us "uneducated trailer trash", it makes us people who have the strength of our convictions.

I do agree with him. It does say in the Bible that gay marriage is not right and I do not agree with it by any means. HOWEVER, that doesn't mean WE should judge those people. I treat gay people exactly the same, but that doesn't mean I have to agree with them or have the same opinion. I am not the one to judge, God does that.

it would seem to me as a christian…that what was deffinitly more important than judging people and supposedly spreading "GOD'S WORD" would be to show people love…i think that the problem with him is he is doing what a lot of people do and focusing on other peoples sin to avoid his own (and looking very shabby while he does it) i think it also says in the bible that Jesus hung out with prostitutes and thieves…so maybe he should read the whole Bible and not just the parts he chooses.
