An Open Letter From Star Jones
Filed under: Barack Obama > Star Jones
We hate agreeing with her, but….
She brings up some very good points!
Star Jones writes:
"I'm sick to death of people like Fox News host, Bill O'Reilly, and his ilk thinking that he can use a racial slur against a black woman who could be the next First Lady of the United States, give a half-assed apology and not be taken to task and called on his crap.
This week O'Reilly gave the following response to a caller on his radio show who was making unsubstantiated negative charges against presidential candidate Barack Obama's wife, Michelle Obama:
'And I don't want to go on a lynching party against Michelle Obama unless there's evidence, hard facts, that say this is how the woman really feels. If that's how she really feels — that is a bad country or a flawed nation, whatever — then that's legit. We'll track it down.'
What the hell? If it's 'legit,' you're going to 'track it down?' And then what do you plan to do?
How dare this white man with a microphone and the trust of the public think that in 2008, he can still put the words 'lynch and party' together in the same sentence with reference to a black woman; in this case, Michelle Obama? I don't care how you 'spin it' in the 'no spin zone,' that statement in and of itself is racist, unacceptable and inappropriate on every level.
O'Reilly claims his comments were taken out of context. Please don't insult my intelligence while you're insulting me. I've read the comments and heard them delivered in O'Reilly's own voice; and there is no right context that exists. So, his insincere apology and "out-of-context" excuse is not going to cut it with me.
And just so we're clear, this has nothing to do with the 2008 presidential election, me being a Democrat, him claiming to be Independent while talking Republican, the liberal media or a conservative point of view. To the contrary, this is about crossing a line in the sand that needs to be drawn based on history, dignity, taste and truth.

Bill, I'm not sure of where you come from, but let me tell you what the phrase 'lynching party' conjures up to me, a black woman born in North Carolina . Those words depict the image of a group of white men who are angry with the state of the own lives getting together, drinking more than they need to drink, lamenting how some black person has moved forward (usually ahead of them in stature or dignity), and had the audacity to think that they are equal. These same men for years, instead of looking at what changes, should and could make in their own lives that might remove that bitterness born of perceived privilege, these white men take all of that resentment and anger and decide to get together and drag the closest black person near them to their death by hanging them from a tree — usually after violent beating, torturing and violating their human dignity. Check your history books, because you don't need a masters or a law degree from Harvard to know that is what constitutes a 'lynching party.'
Imagine, Michelle and Barack Obama having the audacity to think that they have the right to the American dream, hopes, and ideals. O'Reilly must think to himself: how dare they have the arrogance to think they can stand in a front of this nation, challenge the status quo and express the frustration of millions? When this happens, the first thing that comes to mind for O'Reilly and people like him is: 'it's time for a party.'
Not so fast…don't order the rope just yet.
Would O'Reilly ever in a million years use this phrase with reference to Elizabeth Edwards, Cindy McCain or Judi Nathan? I mean, in all of the statements and criticisms that were made about Judi Nathan, the one-time mistress turned missus, of former presidential candidate Rudy Giuliani, I never heard any talk of forming a lynch party because of something she said or did.
So why is it that when you're referring to someone who's African-American you must dig to a historical place of pain, agony and death to symbolize your feelings? Lynching is not a joke to off-handedly throw around and it is not a metaphor that has a place in political commentary; provocative or otherwise. I admit that I come from a place of personal outrage here having buried my 90 year-old grandfather last year. This proud, amazing African-American man raised his family and lived through the time when he had to use separate water fountains, ride in the back of a bus, take his wife on a date to the 'colored section' of a movie theater, and avert his eyes when a white woman walked down the street for fear of what a white man and his cronies might do if they felt the urge to 'party'; don't tell me that the phrase you chose, Mr. O'Reilly, was taken out of context.
To add insult to injury, O'Reilly tried to 'clarify' his statements, by using the excuse that his comments were reminiscent of Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas' use of the term 'high-tech lynching' during his confirmation hearing. I reject that analogy. You see Justice Thomas did mean to bring up the image of lynching in its racist context. He was saying that politics and the media were using a new technology to do to him what had been done to black men for many years — hang him. Regardless of if you agreed with Justice Thomas' premise or not, if in fact — Bill O'Reilly was referencing it — the context becomes even clearer.
What annoys me more than anything is that I get the feeling that one of the reasons Bill O'Reilly made this statement, thinking he could get away with it in the first place, and then followed it up with a lame apology in a half-hearted attempt to smooth any ruffled feathers, is because he doesn't think that black women will come out and go after him when he goes after us. Well, he's dead wrong. Be clear Bill O'Reilly: there will be no lynch party for that black woman. And this black woman assures you that if you come for her, you come for all of us." — Star Jones Reynolds

Overreact much? I guess since her show was canceled, she has plenty of time to pick apart and over-analyze other talking heads. Get over yourself, Star. O'Reilly is an idiot, but I don't think this is a black/white thing.
Give me a break. Everyone is so racismphobic. It's obvious he wasn't saying lynching in the historical sense. He was using it to mean "come after her or against her verbally". Why are people so anal nowadays. Stop playing victims. Get over it. Isn't there a college in the U.S. that only allows blacks? Isn't that racist? Stop crying racism at everything. You're not victims and no one is after you.
Bill O'Reilly can say what he wants- and he didn't mean it that way at all. BUT he pales in comparison to the vitriol spewed out by Bill Maher, janeane garofalo, Susan Sarandon, Wolff Blitzer, etc. I mean, why pick on ONE broadcaster when, on both sides, there are SO MANY to choose from? O'Reilly looks like a diplomat compared to the viscious liberals out there. Who would watch the 24 hours of "news" that is shoved down our throats if there weren't controversy?
I am so tired of of the race card being pulled. O'Reilly is RIGHT!! Obama's wife stated "for the first time in my adult life-time, I am proud of my country". Where has she been? Where was she when this country pulled together after 9-11? Go live in a third-world country and then say that Mrs. Obama. People with that attitude should be removed from this GREAT COUNTRY of ours. You take all that we have and take it for granted.
Re: Stephanie – I couldn't say it better myself!!! Amen! Of course media is too scared to discuss those issues.
Bill O'Reilly is the biggest narcissistic fuckwad on TV — and that's saying a lot, considering Oprah, Tyra, Dr. Phil, Glenn Beck, Regis, and the rest in a long line of ego-maniacs. But no question about it: Bill is the king loser among losers.
I'll give Star another sentence with "party" & "lynch." Star, I'm going to throw a lynching party for you.
This is EXACTLY why I don't want Obama for president. You can barely say anything about blacks now, can you imagine if one is in charge.
You were not a slave, your Grandparents were not slaves so GET THE FUCK OVER IT ALREADY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
O'reilly for president 2008!
you go girl! great letter.
What's wrong with lynching?
I THINK STAR MAY BE AN OPPURTUNIST IN THIS CASE. I HOPE IM WRONG HERE. iM BLACK AND THERE ARE BIGGER ISSUES FACING US RIGHT NOW 2 RACIAL SHOTINGS IN LA IN THE PAST WEEK WHERE 6 YEARS OLD AND 12 YEARS OLD. HELL WE ARE BEING LYNCHED IN THE BLACK AND LATINO NEIGBORHOODS AND BILL HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH IT. WHAT STAR IS TALKING ABOUT IS SOME BULLSHIT.
Re: getoverit – You're obvious a racist asshole. Go f&$k yourself.
Cracka please…. it's a figure of speech, get over it. If he would have said it about potential first lady Bill nobody would give a shit.
Let me be sympathetic after all this is the only race (black) in the WHOLE world that has ever suffered through any injustice. Really, it's ridiculous with this, what words can be used or can't be used by nonblacks and in what context. Don't flatter yourselves black people, EVERY single white person in the world is not consumed with thoughts of black people and how to cut them down. These things keep being brought up b/c there's nothing you can complain about anymore. Slavery is over, you can sit in the first rows of a bus, housing is not denied, you're privy to higher education and great jobs. It's over. Time to write a new chapter in this epic novel.
Re: Rich – Why should black people cry a river for latinos and other races when they are victimized daily? Stop worrying about what black people are doing and go educate your ignorant ass.
bills right that michelle said that this is the first time she likes
america…wow thanks
Being neither a Jones nor O'Reily fan, I have to applaud Ms. Jones Reynolds courageous attempt to stand up to the Fox media machine. Ms. Jones' eloquent and well thought out letter will likely confuse and futher enrage ignorant biggots like O'Riley. It is unfortunate that this man has complete immunity from public repudiation, no matter what spews from his racicist mouth! I would pay money to watch Star destroy Bill in a debate on any topic in any forum!
Re: tired of it –
Your asking why there is no white history month… well thats a stupid question…EVERYONE MONTH IS WHITE HISTORY MONTH!!! Everything you learn is school is eurocentric therefore it is written by white people, about white history, white culture and white values.
I am not a fan of black history month that much either because it is as though we are saying that in february is the month that we can only learn about black cutlure. And what about other cultures???
HOWEVER…. whats the solution to learn about other cultures besides white culture without having a black history month or an asian month etc.
I hate Michelle Obama - they should lynch her monkey-ass!
shut up, star. she ends up sounding more racist than o'reilly. in a perfect, there would be no racism but the world isn't perfect. everyone is racist on some level. should we start censoring everything? he has the right to his opinion just she like she has the right to her opinion. it's not like we live in a politically correct society. black people should ask themselves how they talk about white people in their living rooms. racism is alive and well, and it is not white people's fault. what'll happen if obama becomes president? are we going to have to watch we say at home, too? any remark slightly geared at black people and on my g-d, big deal, the world's over. you don't hear about jews trying to dismantle the neo-nazi movement, you don't hear about latinos complaining that they don't get welfare. they come here to work their asses off to take of their families. i don't think it's white people that have created the image that people have of black people, they did it themselves. they choose to do drive by's, they choose to sell drugs, and they choose to try to use their skin color to intimidate others. i don't know any other race that does that.
how dare anyone say something negative about a black person and then say its not racist!! Doesn't everyone know that you can't be negative about a black person and not be a racist? Its impossible.
Plus Michelle is so pretty…. she's like Jackie Kennedy and Zira from Planet of the Apes rolled into one - tinyurl com/28857p
I realize that not all the consumers of this website are overly educated, however what most should realizeis that speech provoking violent action is not protected by the first amendment. I can not say " hey lets go kill such and so" and expect to be protected by the 1st amendment. People commenting about what we say in their living rooms or in private is a erroneous analogy. Bill is a public figure that may or may not have incited his audience to a violent action. Sure sometimes political correctness can be taken to far, but that being said if someone calls your mom a whore its not that big a deal unless she was. My point is that those of us who have no idea about what it might be like to face a lynching should think twice about what we say. Ask the boys in Jena Louisiana if the meaning of the word lynch is figurative or literal.
holy shit; good one
Pleeeeaaase!!! You were a much better woman when you were fat, put the meat back on girl!!!
What's really sad is that some of you leave these jaded, rascist, and naive comments. Let's look at it this way. Who has not had things go wrong in their life? Not everything works out the way we want it to. I am not a big fan of Star Jones, and she gets on my nerves. However, she has a point. I come from both races, and I think that if you're going to be Bill O'Reilly, be on public radio, and then throw out a lynching comment in 2008 it raises eyebrows.
Nobody can say what Star's true motives were, but she makes an awfully good point. I never thought this was worth responding to until now, but dear fucking lord, give a sister a break. Bitch is the new black remember?
Quite frankly, I think this blow up over the term "lynch-mob" is bullshit. I have used that term in reference to many, many things not remotely involving black people. Perhaps if Bill O'Reilly had said "witch-hunt" instead, the Wiccan women of the world would be up in arms? The point was, he DIDN'T want to form a lynch mob or a witch hunt. All he said was that he wanted to get to the bottom of her statement and find out whether or not Barack Ofucktard would really be the best leader for our country.
Here's the deal, for the entire African-American race to read: MOST of the Caucasian race, yes, Caucasian, not White, you racist pricks, is over the color of your skin. Most of us could give a flying fuck of a shit that your skin is darker and your hair is different. WE DON'T FUCKING CARE!!!! What we do care about is the general attitude exhibited by many if not most of the people included in the African-American race. Those that I am referring to are rude, pushy, disrespectful, and racist toward members of the Caucasian race and have a complete disregard and lack of knowledge in respect to the proper use of the English language. Slavery is over. You and I are equal in the eyes of the law. I would say that you and I are completely equal, but I feel that, since I am able to judge you based upon your character and the way you act rather than the color of your skin, and you can only berate me and torment me based on the color of mine, we are not equal as human beings, only as citizens.
I stood in line for 3 hours last night to caucus, along with 1,000 other people. 15-20 of those people around me were Caucasian, 50-60 were Hispanic, and 40-50 were Asian. The remaining people around me were African American. I was standing next to a Hispanic couple, and, after receiving a poll update over the phone, they asked me what I had heard. I told them the results thus far, only to have three African American women turn around and tell me how wrong I was and that my numbers didn't count and "she cain't do da maff, you wrawng." After 2 hours in line, the building was cramped and stuffy. I had a migraine and I was burning up. I was right by the door at the entrance and I found a way to prop open the hydrolic door. After I did so, I asked the people around me if it was ok if the door was open. Only one person in the 90 degree building had a problem with it, and it was an African American woman who claimed "girl, im freezin. but i guess if you ain't feel goo, den wuteva." I reluctantly closed the door and took my place back in line. She looked back at me and gave me one of those "I win." looks. Every time I spoke afterward, she would look back and roll her eyes at me. I am sure that if the other African American lady behind me had opened the door, she would have thanked her.
So you see, it's not that we treat you all badly, it's that you treat us badly because you assume we're all out to get you. We're just trying to exist without pissing the African American race off. But somehow, many of you find us racist when really, we are just not spending every second considering what small phrase or action may or may not offend you. And I'm fucking tired of it. I have African American friends, who find such behavior appalling. So I'm saying it: If you want respect and equality, then show some fucking respect for your fellow human beings and act fucking equal.
starzilla worry about big gay al and your career!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
First of all, he uses "lynching party" on his show almost daily when talking about anybody, any race ….. can we please cut the PC crap already? He used the same term talking about Hillary last week. Since when were blacks the only people ever lynched anyway, read some European history…hello! This is why there is still racism. What happened to free speech …this is so lame.
OMG!!! I can't believe how RACIST that POG Bill O'whatever the fuck is!!!!???? Thank God that Star Jones (and mostly you Perez–I love you!) brought it to my attention because I have never and would never watch his filthy ass show!
i am so sick of black people jumping at the chance to call something racist. he wasn't making a derrogatory comment about her. you could say the same thing about a white person. yeah in know the term lynch has a certain connotation. however, if you want to play the race card every chance you get then racism is never going to die. take things at face value & chill out. o'reily is a good guy. he gets along with both hillary & obama & has given both of them significant air time on his show during this election season. btw who the hell cares about star jones… she is unemployed for a reason.
He did mean to say it, because deep in the back of his mind, that's what he thinks.
I can understand how African-Americans would be appalled and disgusted at this comment. It was the AA's who were targeted for this cruel and murderous crime at the hands of bigoted white people. I remember being disgusted at a picture in a book of a bunch of white people standing around a black man who had been lynched. What kind of people would gather and allow this to happen like it was a show? This was a cruel act done to this race. Have you heard of any white people being lynched? I understand that African-Americans are unified in their utter contempt of this word and what it represents. It should not be tolerated and Bill O'Reilly is almost enjoying using that word to see if he can get away with it.
yeah, bill reilly is a pig. very strange and angry man.
and i'm sorry but star looks like a total freak now. talk about someone who needs self-respect…
Bill O'Reilly is a repressed, ignorant racist with a degree that most likely spends company money banging 12 year old Thai boys on vacation! There's a special place in hell for the asshole, I can't wait to see his bitch-ass burning there. What a fucking moron!
and all the "pretend to be PC in the daytime" assholes really showed their colors on this blog. Add your real name the next time you feel like bashing black people for their continuing sensitivity to 300+ years of open, unending, undeniable discrimination. Fuck. You. Ignorant. Punk-Ass. Trash. I'd love to see you talk that shit face to face to your black co-worker, black cousin, black policeman. Fucking assholes.
I usually hate Starr, but I love her letter!! She has just earned back some love from me.
White people are taken to task no matter what they say. No one thinks in terms of black or white EXCEPT blacks. Then they jump on their "racial" train and ride off, accusing everyone of a racial slur. WTF! What is she were white and he said that same remark? Think in those terms if EVERYONE is equal.
Having grown up with a lot of redneck, racist assholes, I can assure you that Bill is one of them. Asshole.
Oh, and just for the record- I'm white, and I'm still outraged. I'm usually the first to agree with people that African Americans tend to play the race card too much, but in this case, Bill was in the wrong.
Calm down people! I think part of the problem here is that the comments were made by Bill O'Reilly. He's a creepy guy. So, it's not surprising that someone would be offended. If Bill O'Reilly said, "good morning" to me or even smiled at me, I would be offended. He's got a creepy vibe going. *shrug*
I find it pretty sad that Star thinks ne one even Bill Oreilly cares what she thinks. No one asked if u bought or accepted his apology.
I also find it sad that Tyra Banks can have a black women summit and completley trash interacial relationships and white women in general and no one says shit about that. I do not agree with what Bill said however if u dont like racism or racist comments maybe lets address them ALL and hold everyone to the same standards not just white people.
Maybe she should debate it on her show. Oh, wait……..
Re: PDidda –
Black COUSIN!!! Ha ha ha…. if anyone I was related to was dumb enough to breed with one of them they'd be lynched. You know, social darwinism and all.
I think PDidda has a touch of the Jungle Fever. Its time to put you down like a dog.
i listen to bill o'reilley every day. not bc i'm a huge fan but bc i like political talk radio and like him or not, he does give the fairest report. shawn hannity and rush just try to shove republican rhetoric down your throat. with them, if you aren't republican, you're going to hell. bill calls everyone out — republican, democrat, black, white, asian. whatever
i was listening that particular day and he was actually defending mrs. obama
a caller called in blasting her for some comments she made and bill defended her saything that he's not going to "lynch" her for comments he doesn't believe she actually made meaning he wasn't going to disparage her for comments that could not be proven
so what if he used the word lynch lynching party is a phrase
people really need to get over themselves for instance, the broadway play jesus christ superstar has been told that judas iscariot can no longer hang himself bc it's offensive WTF? first of all, the hanging is a historical/biblical fact
the political correctness movement is ruining this country "political correctness" is just a polite (if you will) way to say censorship
star jones is just an out of work fame whore looking for attention.
Re: shelly – i'm 16 and i watch/listen to O'Reilly everyday, thanks to him i'm not crazy like 1/2 the people out there!!!! thank GOD i'm not the only smart person here. he's fair & lets you deciede your own opinion, its not our fault that Obama or Clinton or Ted Kennedy wont come on his show! their afraid of him!!!! He'll kick their ass with questions they cannot answer!
Although Bill said "lynching party," it isn't necessarily because she's black. It's a very common expression, like having someone "crucified" because they've done something wrong. Star just needs to stop hating because Bill has a show and she doesn't.
Only in America: yes, the word lynching has a negative history with blacks in the US, but that history is short compared to the many lynch mobs throughout history in general. I do not believe that Bill O'Reilly was saying a "racial slur", but was simply using a broad vocabulary. He could have very easily said the same thing about Hillary Clinton or McCain, yet he would not have been attacked for that. Doesn't that fact reinforce the concept of racism, since the same word cannot be applied to different races?
star jones doesn't deserve to have an opinion. She is mindless and weak. The Papa Bear can say whatever he wants.
Sticks and stones people.
I think that it is difficult for people who were never oppressed, beaten, tortured, LYNCHED, and raped due to the color of your skin, religious belief, sexual orientation, or gender to understand the sensitivity of using such careless words. Yes autrocities like the slavery of African Americans, the Holocaust, and the genocide in Cambodia ended several decades ago, but they HAPPENED! I support the freedom of speech 100%, but the use of such careless and evil words by a public image holder such as Bill O'Reilly should result in outrage. Hitler used his ability to captivate his audience in very much the same way and we all know the end result.
she is extremely uneducated if she thinks that was a racist statement. what a stupid woman.
Hey man, I read this last week. But yeah, she still makes valid points. Bill O'Riley needs to stfu and stfd.
Re: ana –
He's got the #1 cable news show in the world. Anybody who thinks Mr. O'Reilly is a racist is despicable.
you do know that just because the word "lynch" was used doesn't mean he was using a racial slur. plenty of white people were lynched too. it's ok to disagree with what he has to say, but i think starr needs to chill out. everything doesn't have to come back to the fact barack and his wife are black.
…and every time a black person on TV makes a white racist comment or joke?………… I'm so over this damn double standard. YES…Star Jones is right BUT…why is it a racist remark when a white person makes it but not when a black person makes it? The entertainment biz is filled with racist comments period, point, blank…made by ALL races….but the only time people ever get pissed about it and demand FUCKING apologies are when white people make these comments about blacks. AGAIN…so sick of the DOUBLE STANDARD.
she can go fuck herself
oreilly is LEGIT, unlike this dumb whore [who looks like an alien]
maybe a poor choice of words, but common - is everything that a white person does and says considered racist now? It seems to me that thats the easiest card to pull when its convenient. It gets really hard to see all races equally (and yes, I do believe all races are equal) when I'm constantly being told they are not by their own people - people like Star Jones.
Are you kidding me? What a lot of hype about nothing. Bill O'Reilly defends an attack against a woman using a well-known and widely used figure of speech and everyone jumps on the race card. People's ignorance just never ceases to amaze me.
Re: mai kou –
Re: PDidda –
I have actually been opressed due to my sexual orientation. I can't hold my partner's hand in public places outside of the gay district because I'm afraid of being beaten to death somewhere by some ignorant fuck. I know what oppression is like. Trust me. I listen to people walk by and say things like, "That's so gay." or "What a fag." or "That's kind of dykey." I can guarantee you, if someone walked by you and said, "Don't be a n****r," there would be serious consequences. I don't have that option, but I don't go around accusing everyone of being homophobic. I get it, I do. But you have your rights, be grateful for them. Wipe the chip off of your shoulder and move on.
As for you, PDidda, if you have a problem with the things I've said, my name is Cam. So, there. Go for it.
Bill O'Reilly is a piece of shit.
Bill O'Rielly is a colossal asshole, and has been spewing venom for far too long. He's a coward and a bully.
I hope that pig of a woman will see this. The word {Lynch} is a verb. It is not a racial slur! It is an action, like, to execute without due process of law, especially to hang, as by a mob. If I were to use the word negro or colored would that make me a racist? If it does, then the powers that be might want to replace those to words from, NAACP & UNCF. All I can tell Mrs. Sowbelly is, change the station black woman.
Whatever, you guys. Is Bill O'Reily a jerk?… Sounds like it, but do we really need to get so upset over what other ignorant or insensitive people say? Quit worrying about what other people are doing and make sure that you aren't doing the same thing yourself. Get over it!
In no way am I saying that this douche O'Reilly was right… but star jones' "how dare this white man.."… UHHH weren't you just bitching about racial slurs? so how necessary was it for her to call him white… i dunno, i think it sounds a little hypocritical.. anyway.. fuck star jones!
I am a democrat and I can't believe this is even a discussion. Perez is a douche, and he is trying to start shit that doesn't exist. As an advocate for change, I recognize that he is part of the problem. People that start problems where there aren't any are worse than the people that are voting McCain. Narcotics are the most fun thing in the world. That doesn't make them right or safe. I find them as fun as anyone…but how stupid are you to think that they could really bendfit our country.
I hate all of you that don't agree with star and perez!!!! Take your head out of your ass and open your eyes! 1st. I HATE BILL O'RILEY … that duche bag needs to go back to mississippi and die under an alligator!!!!! NOW
I haven't really paid much attention to Star Jones but I think that Bill O'Reilley dude has said a lot of effed up shiz in the past and even in the present. And he gets nothing but a slap on the wrist. And I don't care about him being White. I'd still care about the word 'lynch' being used so carefree. He should know better than to use politcally incorrect words like that on a public network, "news" at that. I don't think he should get away with as much as he does. As a Black woman, I'm so over the whole 'race' thing but I feel everyone should be over it too and just leave past shiz in the past and not bring up anything unappeasing into the future. Leave all racist, biggoted comments in the past and let's try and move on with our lives for once and for all because it's a new year, we really shouldn't be concerned with race anymore.
for those of you that think lynching is a joke or not racist:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lynching
Umm… I can see how he could have said that without meaning anything racist. It seems like a perfectly normal thing to say, to me. That is, if you forget that the woman he's talking about is black. Which, I think, maybe he did. Isn't that what we're supposed to do anyway?
I don't like the guy, and I don't like her comments about finally being proud of her country. I think that they are both totally obnoxious, but I am also really sick of people being over sensitive. Is it not okay to use the term "lynch" metaphorically with a white person? If it is, then it should be okay with a black person. If it's not, then it's news to me.
And, FYI, I am not at all racist. I love everybody, I just think it sucks when people are so offended by stuff that is, a lot of the time, not meant to be offensive.
I LOVE STAR JONES ..SHES AN INTELLIGENT STRONG BLACK WOMEN AND FOR ALL OF U THAT SAY OTHERWISE …GO !@#$$%5 YOURSELFS
THIS MESSAGE IS FOR DONNA I BET YOURA WHITE WHORE RIGHT…U CANT POSSIBLY KNOW WHAT IT IS TO BE BLACK….THAT LITTLE TOPIC SLAVERY…SOMETHING THAT LASTED FIVE AND A HALF CENTURIES WHICH MEANS ..FIVE HUNDRED AND FIFTY YEARS WHICH MEANS TWENTY TWO GENERATIONS OF BLACK PEOPLE..SISTERS SOLD AWAY FROM SISTERS BROTHERS SOLD AWAY FROM BROTHERS WIVES SEPARATED FROM HUSBANDS…MAY OF THEM RAPED BY white men WHO DENIED FATHERING RACIALLY MIXED BABIES WERE THE AFRICAN LANGUAGE WAS ILLEGAL TO SPEAK READING WAS ILLEGAL TO LEARN WRITING TO..AFRICAN GODS ILLEGAL TO WORSHIP…SO BITCHWE DO HAVE A RIGHT TO TAKE ANY RACIAL SLUR OUT OF CONTEXT U DONT KNOW SHIT LEARN SOMETHING FIRST…HOW Dare u say some crazy supid shit like that u have never discriminated by the color of your skin …your white what do u know u dont know shit so keep your mouth shut …we want to take it out of context we can we have the right to …slut…
Brazilliant!! Well done, Star! Succinctly & pointedly expressed; I like what you've got to say &, even more, like the way you say it!
trust me if obama and stars skin color was not as light as it is they would not be haveing the success that they have had.
why is it ok for blacks to have all black net work and all black sitcoms and not be called racist let the caucasion person do that and the race card is played every time by black people.
i have witness black people racist toward there own simply because one black persons skin is lighter than the others ever heard the term " that high YELLOW n—–" thinks she is better than us or that "dark ass n—–" I mean when are black people going to move forward and stop playing the race card instead living in the past as though the world owes them somthing it is rediculous.
I had a black student tell me when u say the n word it doesn't mean the same thing as when black people do . it does the word came from the same time and place. white or black it means the same thing
I am so sick of black people bitching about every little thing white people say or do! I'm sure Mr. O'Reilly did not get to where he is today by being a racist. Slavery was over a loooong time ago. The only reason we still talk about this shit is because the black people won't let it go. Get a FUCKING life!
PLUH-EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEZE!
Yeah make him get on his hands and knees and beg for Al sharptons forgivness, There is such a double standard in this country and an equal amount of Black racists that despise white people, just come to NYC!
IT'S WHAT HAPPENS WHEN OLD, WHITE MEN START TO SEE THE BALANCE OF POWER SHIFTING FROM THEM TO A MAN OF ANOTHER COLOR, OR EVEN WORSE, ACCORDING TO THEIR NARROW MINDSET, A WOMAN.
HE USED TO BE A PUNDIT: NOW HE'S JUST PATHETIC.
Re: timmay! – Really? I associate visuallyl the word lynch with something that as you know is not something to be proud of in American history. It is disrespectful and thoughtless.
I am sure many whites in the US and Canada would like to erase history and make light of it through there use of words. lSlavery is not something that can be forgotten. Anyone that sees pictures of lynchings in the US cannot help but be overtaken by the injustice and violence. It is not a word to be used out of context.
Re: pequitarita – Everything you say is offensive and has all been heard before.
Re: chris – I don't understand what is the double standard? How is it a double standard to disrespect with insensitive words like lynch?
Explain that?
It is called disrespect. And it isn't even thinly veiled.
Re: pequitarita – Put it this way. You can say anything you want about your mother, brother, sister etc. but nobody else better.
You do understand that concept don't you?
I think so.
Stop playing so stupid. What the hell kind of an education are you getting.
Maybe you should take a course in manners and common sense.
Re: odd – I would imagine at some point being on the receiving end of race discrimination of any kind no matter how small gets old and tolerance levels become nil.
Wouldn't you….duh?
Star Jones needs to get over herself! I watch The O'Reily Factor almost on a daily basis and he uses lynching party a lot actually (even while talking about white people). It wasn't a racial slur and Mr. O'Reily did nothing wrong!
Star– your fat, sloppy, lazy and look like an alien. Barack and his fake-ass wife suck and are closed Muslims. I'm a republican and Hillary is beter than that POS Obama…and go cry the race card like a baby–I don't care if he's green for pete's sake he doesnt have enogh experience to lead this country. SO go suck big gay al's dirty left testicle and shut you fat-alien-head ugly face! Go away!!!!!
Re: me – Why would he continue to use this term when it is so offensive?
Are you not getting it or what?
Re: star is so fat and gross – Cry the race card? You have got to be joking.
Sadly.
Re: star is so fat and gross – Wow. If you hate him…then that makes me want to vote for him.
If the Republicans hate him ….then I guess he will have to run againt McCain.
McCain ain't gonna look so good when that happens.
Star Jones is an Idiot! Get the Fuck over it!
seriously…get over it. star jones gave up her food addiction, i guess she had to replace it with something. read: being a constant pain in the ass.
GET A JOB STAR!!! She is just trying to get in the spot light for a second more since everything else she has done has FAILED!! o except for that gastric bipass. hahahahaha
Good for Star Jones!! She is right.
Iqould just like to say that, with people like bill oreilly on TV its no suprise this country has been able to come as far as it has. He's a racist douche bag. That's all….
In today's world it's time to stop looking into words or meanings. I totally agree with OReilly in this statement. Why do we want a Muslim president with a wife who doesn't even think this country is great! Vote Hilary!!!
Star Jones is probably one of those ignorant people who are ONLY going to vote for Obama because he's black.
WHO GIVES A S#$T get over it for christ sakes.Star Jones is a freakin "TARD"
so whites can no longer use the words lynch, boy, and good credit around African Americans without them getting offended? Sorry- you can skeet skeet skeet on out.
Bill knew what he was saying as did Michelle. But they do not have to apologoze and always walk on eggshells. Who really gives a damn?
Worry more about your own life than the soap opera on TV?The best thing you can do is not watch him.
