Patrick Swayze has pancreatic cancer, his publicist confirmed on Wednesday.
The average life expectancy of someone diagnosed with cancer of the pancreas is six to nine months, with only 4 percent of patients living more than five years.
And, according to the National Enquirer, who broke the sad news first, Patrick's cancer has already spread to other parts of his body - making his chances of survival even more slim.
Let us all sends our prayers, positive energy and thoughts to him. That he is not in pain. And that his family does not suffer too much either.
So incredibly, heartbreakingly sad.

i just lost my father 2 weeks ago to pancreatic cancer. it is not a laughing matter- every year 33,000 people are diagnosed and within 1 year 31,000 of those people will die. my father was diagnosed fairly early and only survived 11 months. it is a horrible, disgusting way to die. i pray for him and his family.

Its very sad–because he is so young. Pancreatic cancer is a fast one. he doesn't look very good in any recent photos so I am inclined to believe it. Very sad. So young.

Man, this is so sad… I'm so very schocked by the news. I hope he has a lot of support from his family and friends and that he isn't in a lot of pain.
I'm still stunned that the National Enquirer, of all rag mags, actually got something right! My aunt died of pancreatic cancer only one month after being diagnosed, so, unfortunately, the prognosis is certainly not good at all. Five weeks is NOT an unrealistic estimate, I'm sad to say.

This is really bad news for Patrick. I've had three close family members, including my father, all die from the same cancer. This type of cancer moves VERY quickly and is VERY deadly. There is practically no cure, especially if it's moved into other organs. My dad just passed away about two years ago from the same thing. He only made it about three months after diagnoses. It was truly horrible to see just how quickly it took my father down.
At first my father looked fine, but then he started losing a LOT of weight, until he was finally around 100 lbs when he died. This cancer is a horrible disease. We really need to find a cure for this horrible, horrible thing.
All I can say is, Patrick, spend this time with your loved ones and really enjoy the time you have left. That's the best thing. Our prayers are with you and your family…

First Jeff Healy who was in the movie Road House with Patrick Swayze dies on Sunday in Ontario and now this sad news. My Dad is also living with cancer. It's quality not quantity that matters now. You have to want to survive more than anyone else wants it for you. The body is an amazing thing……..praying for you.

My grandma fought pancreatic cancer for 4 long heartbreaking years. Looking back I almost wished she went quick. It is an awful way to die. My prayers go out to the family.
