If we all buy the song and we make it go to the Top 10, it'd be a nice gesture to the ailing Dirty Dancing star.

Im not stupid. I remember that you posted about your influence on posting about new artists leading to unknowns becoming downloads, and this was creating a POSIIBLE SPOT at a record label. patrick swayze was my ideal guy growing up. i'm OBSESSED with dirty dancing and his character johnny castle. amazing actor, dancer, and singer. what a talent. i pray for him and his family. it must be terrible painful having to go through this. thanks for putting such importance on this, perez…and for being respectful of course. he's given cinema such amazing moments–the final lift at the finally of dirty dancing, the pottery scene in ghost with unchained melody in the background…he's a true gem.
I bought it - my husband is a cancer survivor. Nice thought, Perez, and let's all pray for Patrick, too.
Dirty Dancing is my favorite movie of all time. When I watch it I burst into tears during the dancing scene at the very end. He has such charisma! The connection with Jennifer was so real. You have to love that. I am praying for you Patrick. I just downloaded your song on iTunes. Stay strong.

This is a wonderful thing you're doing Perez - and a fabulous idea. I can't begin to tell you how big a fan of his I was when I was younger. I littery spent THOUSANDS on magazines, movies and the like. And I have seen DD more than any other movie (TWF a close second). And I cried my eyes out when I found out this was true, but I am going to do what you said and pray and put good vibes out there for him and his family - AND buy the song. Besides being a incredible dancer and passionate actor, he is a wonderful, compassionate human being - there's just so much to admire. God Bless you Patrick - you have so many people who love you and are praying for you. Stay strong!!!

Perez just shared a suggestion about making a symbolic gesture to show support for Mr. Swayze at this difficult time. Some people send cards, flowers, letters, etc. Not everyone can do that, however, and buying his song is a cool alternative. I second the idea of donating to cancer research, but the main issue here is not to provide Mr. Swayze with financial assistance — just moral support. Even if you disagree, there's really no need for all-caps messages and heterosexist/homophobic rants against the creator of this site. Show some compassion for Mr. Swayze, the focus of the original posting, or go read something else.

Oh noo, I'm so sad today! It's wonderful in a way to know that there's a huge amount of people out there hoping for the best for Patrick: that will make a difference if you believe in prayer. He's one of my favourite actors and has made a profound impact in my life - in my love for dance.
Ya! But it won't benefit him financially. If we all buy that "dirty dancing" movie DVD, he might be able to get some royalty fee. He needs all the money now for his medical expense and compensating the time he is getting treatment not working.
This is so sad! My husband (also named Patrick) has pancreatitis and it makes me worry so much. I hope this doesn't happen to him. Someone on American Idol could score MAJOR points if they sang "She's Like the Wind" on the show in the next couple of weeks. My heart goes out to Patrick Swayze and his family.

this just sucks, the survival rate for this is aweful i just lost my father to pancreatic cancer on february 16th, its a horrible thing to see and a horribla way to go. he only lasted 3 1/2 months. and he only waited that long to see my wedding on the 14th.
i wouldnt wish this on anyone, i miss him everyday.
My nan had dinner with him once and he was a really lovely man, not at all starry. My nan is a working-class, cockney English lady in her late 70s and he was really, really nice. (They were at some film festival and my nan had a documentary made about her and he was there and had dinner with my nan and uncle - it wasn't just random)
