When Grown Men Cry
Filed under: ZportzBrett Favre gave a very emotional press conference on Thursday announcing his retirement from the NFL.
Click here to watch his touching goodbye from football.
We got choked up just watching him!
When a grown man cries, that's some serious shit. It's actually quite beautiful.
Goodbye, Brett!

BRETT FAVRE IS THE MAN… Anyone ripping on him is just a pathetic excuse for a human. Him and Deana have done more good for the people of MS and WI then you guys have probably done for yourselves… get a life and recognize/respect amazing people when you come across one because they are far and few between. #4 FOREVER, THANKS BRETT… YOU WILL BE MISSED MORE THEN YOU KNOW.
I was so sad when Brett announced his retirement. All of you negative people out there saying bad things about Brett should be honored he played for the NFL. He and his family have been positive role models for many and you sure as hell can't say that about too many sport super stars. He had his ups and downs, but when it came down to it, he shined. I have been a Packer fan forever. It sure won't be the same without Brett, but I thank him for the awesome memories. Sorry I won't see him at Lambeau Field anymore….Sunday football will never be the same.
what a fuking fag. I hope he gets aids!
This guy is sexier than that little boy Tom Brady!!!
It made me cry too…I think every Packer fan did when they saw this! He'll be missed considerably.
HOLY SHIT HE'S HOT
oh man perez you're pms-ing. THis is the funniest thing i've seen.
Re: Carmen – No, they don't know anything about Brett Favre or they wouldn't be making their dumbass comments. They either hate him because he always kicked their teams ass or they know nothing about him or his career they just look for reasons to leave comments talking shit about people because apparently that's fun. That's why most of the rude comments are about him crying. They have nothing better to say because there isn't much bad to say about him. Most of them don't know anything about him or football which I guess we should expect since this is a gossip column but it would be nice if they didn't comment on something they have absolutely no idea about and just stick to the posts about celebrities.
Re: bob –
Actually, owning a part of the Packers means they can never move out of Green Bay WITHOUT approval from every stockholder. That means we'll never sell our team or kick 'em out because they're sucking. We're loyal here.
And yes, Favre had issues, but he worked through them, he's a human being! Cut him some slack! I'm sure all you bitter people making fun of him have never tried to give up something you really truly loved with all your heart. I respect him for being able to show his emotions.
Re: Boogs – Yep and he's just better in every way!
Wow you people are idiots, this was one of the games greatest players and it is a sad day to see him go…I will miss seeing such a great and classy athlete…Go Favre…
Brett will forever be a Packer! Thanks for all the great memories! I love Brett!

What a waste of space. This could have been a Britney thread!
This was so hard to watch knowing how much he loves this game and to quote all good things must come to and end
although we don't want it to, Brett we love you and Green Bay and the NFL will not be the same with out you. You will be missed to no end. There will NEVER be another Number 4 NOT EVEN DUMB ASS Brady, Romo or the Mannings. No one can touch Brett No one
Who cares, he dosnnt do brain surgery, Hes a spolled man- boy playing a silly football game…..
Man, you people so passionate about a sport are such losers. Why don't you get this worked up over our soldiers in action or public servants who risk their lives everyday? Millions of dollars to these clowns while the average soldier can't afford a place to live. How f'ed up is that?
#107 - nick says – reply to this
MOST OF YOU HAVE NEVER STRAPPED ON SHOULDER PADS IN YOUR FUCKING LIFE OR WENT THROUGH 2 A DAY WORKOUTS IN THE SUMMER HEAT WITH A HELMET ON…
That's because I'm not stupid you dumb butthole. I'm sure your used to shoulder pads and knee pads too. Football sucks and so does your Gay Poppa.
i love that man

Thanks Brett. You made the game fun. In WI we are all (or at least many) weeping with you only because we wish you the very best.
As a die-hard Packer fan, I have to agree that this guy will go down in history as one of the greatest players ever, anywhere. It was hard to see him be so emotional when his reputation is as the iron man who never - repeat, NEVER - missed starting a game in his career. Let some of you wimps try to match that record when you take a day off. He's a class act who pulled his life together after some very public mistakes. I saw him out partying hard in the early days, and cheered when he turned everything around. Now give him the respect he deserves and shut the hell up.
I LOVE BRETT!!!!!
I'm not really a football fan but I watched packer football with my family every sunday ever since I can remember. I would really hope he doesn't have to see some of the comments people left on here about him. With all of the younger athletes now and how cocky they are and always getting into trouble with drugs or something stupid, it's sad to see one of the humble ones go. Brett didn't take is career for granted like many players do now. While I know most celebs and athletes do charity work, Brett seemed to really enjoy giving back to the community. Any team would've given anything to have him but no amount of money could pull him away from where his heart was. He didn't accept pay raises so that other people on the team could get paid more. He's a down to earth guy and I respect him for leaving before he started to hate football and went out on a bad note. I hope he enjoys retirement and his time to catch up with his family. But he will be truly missed.
OH BRETT YOU ARE LOVED!
THANKS 4 THE BEST FOOTBALL YEARS AND ALL THE JOY!
YOU WILL BE MISSED ON THE FIELD!
FAKE emotions.
But he is cute.
What a USELESS hunk of meat!
Even though I'm not a Packer fan, I'm a huge Favre fan! He brought something else to the league, it was awesome! He had definitely earned the respect of many people! love him!!
UGH. what a big fucking baby. just sit down, you should have been gone about 5 yrs. ago.favre always cries. especially when the bears beat him in Lambeau field on christmas day. ha.
Boo Hoo Hoo, Blubbery Blubber, blub. "I'm worth 200 million dollars and I'm so sad, please cry with me"
Why does everyone worship these dopey jocks? They don't give a shit about you or their teams usually, it's all about the paycheck. Paying people millions to throw and catch a football or baseball or basketball and everyone bows down to them like they are gods. What a fucked up society.
Am I the only one who thinks he sounds like Bill Clinton? I heard it on the radio this morning and thought it was him. Don't follow sports.
Re: SHAKNEEQUA –
You are a total idiot. Favre will go down in history with the greats, Montana, Stabler, Marino, Bradshaw, Aikman, Young
You don't know shit, go back to your soap operas you crack whore.
To all of you idiots who think he is gay for crying…FUCK OFF! The Packers are losing one of the greats! So is the NFL. He has broken so many records, had a career of 17 years in the NFL (not many football players get past 3 years) and has the love and adoration of every single Packers Fan on the planet. He and his family have done more for charities in our area and their hometown. I think you would break down too if you had to say goodbye to a life you have known for so long. You are all just jealous you aren't as nearly as good as Brett Favre. We love you Brett, Deanna, and family! Good Luck in the Future!
It's OK for men to cry, probably we would have a better, more peaceful world if more men cried. HOWEVER, it was over the top, especially the media coverage. As it kept going on and on, I began to think about all the other athletes and actors who carry on like what they do is actually important and world-shaking. I began to think about all the children and adults that are being killed and maimed in Iraq, about all the American Soldiers who are putting their lives on the line for nothing compared to the attention and MILLIONS all these overpaid athletes, actors, and performers get. I began thinking about the children in many areas of America who have to fight their way past drug users, gangs and prostitutes to just get to school, the single moms struggling to feed their families, the millions who have no health insurance - YOU GET THE PICTURE. Brett may be a wonderful man, but can't the media give more attention to the plight of millions of Americans instead of these spoiled, over-paid, shallow performers playing children's games?
Just show us your cock and shut up already!!!
Wow, you all need to grow up and stop being so damn immature–honestly. He's been playing football for the Packers for 17 years; I think if you played for the pure love of the game (not money, not fame, not records) for that long you would be a bit more than emotional too. That's a lot of memories, good times and people he's known for that span of time he's leaving behind. It takes a real man with real heart and emotion to not be afraid to show it in front of the entire world.
If you don't respect him as a player, at least respect him for the caring and amazing person he was. He never let the fame get to his head. Through it all he put his family first and he played the game as it should have been played–with respect and having FUN while doing it. Everyone else can try to be insulting, vulgar and immature but it just goes to show Favre is the real man you never will be.
Brett, you will be missed.
Re: Katie – Hopefully, now he will finally grow up now that he's no longer playing a child's game.
3+2=6
Going out on top…he is *the* definition of class and a true sportsman. Football will NOT be the same this year )=
Re: Boo – A child's game…hmmm, let's chuck an 8 year old into the NFL starting lineup of a team and see what happens. It's PROFESSIONAL football for a reason. If you took just ONE of the hits on a single play you'd run crying to mommy. It's apparent you're making generalizations about football as a whole considering some players still act and talk like spoiled children. However, Brett was a unique football player and calling him a child based on the other unsportsmanlike players you may have seen is plain ignorant.
The man put his heart and soul into the Packers organization and to the fans for 17 years and they in return supported him through his wife's cancer and his father's sudden death why in the hell wouldn't he been emotional. And to most of the haters you'd have given your left nut to have him be QB fo your team and I'd rather a guy show emotion and dedication then most who show absolutely no loyalty and only care about the money and the accolades. Best of luck Brett!
That has to be the stupidest thing I HAVE ever seen. You cry over a loss in your family, you cry over losing a pet, you cry over sickness but this jokster is crying over retiring???? You have got to be kidding me. These people are so out of fricking touch, That was hysterical. You see he's to much of a manly man to cry. Absolute pure comedy.
Re: Lanceinyourpants – Re: cakefuck – Re: bottlefed – Re: smallcock –
Re: noonecares – Re: agree –
For someone who doesn't care, you sure made A LOT of comments. I think it's funny when idiots on here pretend to be different people and say the same shit 20 different times. Yes, we get it…he beat your team at football and you're bitter. We don't need to hear it 20 fucking times.
If you could just get a life…that would be great. Okay? Thanks.
Re: erichmark – Dude, you don't make any sense. 17 years of putting your heart and soul into a career you love will make you cry. This isn't some normal person retiring from a job at the office; he's in a sense retiring from a lifestyle. You're just another immature person we don't need around here criticizing someone you hardly know about enough to talk about.
Re: erichmark – Dude, you don't make any sense. 17 years of putting your heart and soul into a career you love will make you cry. Love you Brett!!!! #4 will always be in my heart!
Am a HUGE fan of this site…realize "most" of you are young. Show the man some well-earned respect. BRETT IS AWESOME (& BTW he was 1st!!!)!
We love you Brett! We'll miss you! You're an amazing man!
That was a great 3mins… way to go Brett! Well deserved! Best of luck to him!!
GO BEARS!!! (Wll, I have to root for someone!)
?who is Brett?
I watched the pc yesterday and bawled my ass off. I have always and will always love this man. Not only did he break every record there is for a qb to break, he was HOT. Good luck to you, Brett and Deanna! Thanks for sixteen years of great entertainment!
BRETT FAVRE FOREVER!!!!!!!!!
He's the pope of Wisconsin!
There is no Packer football without Brett!
Re: Steph – I have researched him and see he seems to be a nice and genuine guy. My only point was either cry or don't but the whole manly thing of trying not to cry was very dramatic. I see he's done a lot for the sport and I think that's super. The crying thing was just a bit over the top.
I live in Wisconsin and here Brett Favre is God. I love him and I always saw him as my hero from the time when I was about five years old. It is sad to see him go and for you out there that call him overrated or say that he sucks have shit for brains and shouldnt even be living! He will truly go down in history as one of the greatest football players of all time.
u guys need to learn some respect
brett is the best thing that happenend to green bay and Nfl
he is the most genuine person u will ever know
he brought the whole state of Wisconsin together for 16 years of greatness.
Re: dogshiteater – YOU SHOULD HAVE HAVE SOME RESPECT!
Re: nick –
amen
What is wrong with all you haters saying nasty and rude things about Brett Favre. What have you done with your life. He's was a great player, obviously look at all his records, and a great person off the field. He was involved with several charities. He went through a lot while playing in GB too. He lost his Dad, his wife had breast cancer, and his brother-in-law was tragically killed. What is wrong with you people. You haters are all just jealous.
NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO. I AM SO NOT HAPPY RIGHT NOW. HE IS ONE OF THE BEST PLAYERS EVER! GOOD LUCK WITH LIFE BRETT!
you know,
i never really liked football, or brett farve
being from wisconsin thats all i ever heard about
but now, this is sad
it must be hard to leave something you love
that i can sympathize with
at least he'll have fucking millions to compensate with.
he looks like an older beckham. its beckham in 10 years
BRETT FAVRE IS THE MAN!!!! ONE OF THE BEST QBs OF ALL TIME!!! Anyone who says otherwise doesnt know a thing about anything!!
IT IS SO MUCH MORE FUN IF YOU PRETEND HE'S GETTING SUCKED OFF UNDER THE TABLE WHILE YOU WATCH IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! LOVE YOU PEREZITO!
Re: Cheesehead Diane – Obviously doesn't know about brett the way you thought. He does live somewhere warm it's called Louisiana, he had to take a plane from his home in LA for the press conference.
For all u favre haters…try losing your father, your best friend (reggie white), your brother in law, and having your wife be diagnosed with breast cancer in a 5 year span, and never miss a game and break almost every qb record known…then u call hom a douche…otherwise look at your own fuckin pathetic lives and wonder why u have to pick on one of the top 10 atheletes alive..brett you are a legend, and u will be missed more than u know!!!
I Love You BRETT!!!!!! FOREVER AND EVER!!!!
Brett is a hottie:) Go PACK Go…The game will never be the same….
Montana loves you Brett. You are the greatest.
You are an awesome quarterback. You made me cry tears of joy when I have watched you play and now tears of sorrow for knowing that I can no longer. Have a great retirement and enjoy your family and friends.
I LOVE YOU BRETT!! Will miss you so much!
It's funny, I always read the posts on here but this is the only one I actually took the time to leave a comment about…
Since I am from Wisconsin, and of course a packer fan! But I was a packer fan second and a brett fan first! It won't be the same watching the games without him!
Thanks Brett. Big Love.
Re: joanna leigh – Is it EVER!
why brett why
one of the best of all time. He's as respectable as a man as you can get.
Greatest of All Time. To the haters: I understand the jealousy. In the 16 years that Brett quarterbacked the best team in the league, your team probably went through 20 quarterbacks. Brett is a class act and anyone that knows anything about football respects him and the way he plays the game. He will greatly be missed but will go down in history for his prowess and his love of the game. Thanks Brett!!
aww. so sad. i grew up liking the packers, and i still do. much better than seeing TO cry over them blaming Romo and saying it was "his quaterback" hahahahahahah. bretts not even that old, hes like 37 or something. hes still hot though lol
people saying its overdramtic or whatever, for the amount of time he was playing, i think anyone would be upset about retiring, and being on the same team for so long too. him crying reallly shows he cared though, guys dont cry. when they do, and for real, it means something. over something like that. something weird to cry about, id worry.
WE LOVE YOU BRETT! FOOTBALL WONT BE THE SAME
IM ONE OF THE MANY THAT GREW UP WATCHIN YOU, IN A WAY IT FEELS LIKE U'VE DIED. TO EVERYONE TALKIN SHIT ABOUT HIM-FUCK YOUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU
HE DESERVES THE HIGHEST RESPECT CUZ THERE IS NO ONE ELSE LIKE HIM. HES BEAT THE GREATEST RECORDS AND IS STILL HUMBLE!!!!!!
KNK IN MILWAUKEE, WI
Huge fan of Perez! Huger fan of Brett Favre. Grew up watching this guy who will go down as one of the greatest. Made football fun and family-esque, not to mention the problems he has managed to overcome. All the haters…you're what is wrong with America today…all this bullshit about something wrong if a man cries- it is beautiful, Perez! Kudos to you man! Lastly, you punks who call him over rated…check the record books please and get back to me. We will forever love you and you will be missed Brett! *muah*
BRETT FAVRE IS IN MY FAVOR…
TRUE PASSION TO THE GAME
PLAIN AND SIMPLE
THANKS MAYN
Its a dark day for the National Football League
7+4=12
I live next door in Minnesota where there is this bloody rivalry between the Vikings and the Packers. Some of our fans are real assholes and they hate the Pakers but I can cheer the hometown team while still really likeing the visitng Packers and have a lot of admiration for Brett and his great team from that little town of Green Bay. How can one not? Sometimes they kick our ass!
I sat here watching his speech and he made me start sniffiling too until snot came out of my nose.
I HEARD THAT THE REAL REASON HE IS RETIRING IS THAT HE IS JUST FUCKEN SICK AND TIRED OF DEALING WITH BLACKS. THEY IRRITATE HIM SO MUCH THAT HE JUST SAID "FUCK THESE N1GGERS , IM RETIRING"
clearly all the rude comments on here were made by idiotic people who don't follow sports AT ALL. brett has been playing for the packers since i was 4 years old…
to sustain that many years in any sport, ESPECIALLY FOOTBALL, is absolutely amazing. he is a class act and the sport will definitely miss him
Re: Steph – I did do some research on the guy and he seems like a very, very kind guy. I wasn't taking anything away from him on that level. I hear he's done great things. I just meant the whole trying to hold back the crying was a bit dramatic. Just cry already and be more of a man and stop trying to stop it and attempt to be butch. It was just very drama, that's all I meant. Nothing at all against him, he seems like a super, super guy!
FUCK all you people who talk shit on brett…Im not a PACKERS fan but he is the most respectable guy in soprts history and MORE respecatble then you or your fucking obssesion with Paris SLUTFACE hilton or NASTY fuck Amy whitehouse..
FINALLY perez you put up REAL life shit up here!! This is the best article yo have ever put on here!!!
I LOVE YOU FAVRE….
We all just watched HISTORY..the best athlete to ever play the game!!!
I LOVE YOU BRETT! Don't hate!
OK TO ALL YOU PEOPLE OUT THERE WHO ARE HATING ON BRETT FAVRE I REALLY THINK YOU NEED TO GET A LIFE AND REALIZE THAT THIS IS A MAN WHO LOVED WHAT HE DID AND PLAYED ON A LEGENDARY TEAM! HIS REACTION WAS AMAZING I THOUGHT! HIS HEART WAS IN THE GAME! AND IT WAS PROBABLY EXTREMELY HARD FOR HIM TO MAKE THAT SPEECH! HE HAS BEEN THROUGH ALOT IN HIS LIFE, HE DESERVES A HELL OF ALOT MORE RESPECT THAN YOU PEOPLE ARE SHOWING HIM! BEING A WISCONSIN NATIVE I AM PROUD THAT HE MADE HIS LEGACY WITH OUR PACKERS! BRETT FAVRE WILL ALWAYS BE OUR QUARTERBACK! NEXT YEAR WILL NOT BE THE SAME! GROW UP! GET A LIFE!
