Dear Sue, the uninformed doofus is actually studying for a PhD in Oxford and the reason why she said americans didn't know about epilators is because all her american friends at uni didn't know about them.
Waxing does not last longer than epilating because it has the exact same result: taking the hair out from the root. Plus, you have to wait for the hair to grow relatively long to wax it, whereas good epilators can work on pretty short hair. In terms of easiness, epilating is just as simple as shaving but maybe a simple upwards move of the wrist is too complicated for you.
Or maybe you just like having people take care of your own personal hygiene for you… Whatever floats your boat.
