The New York Times endorsed Hillary Clinton, so it isn't at all surprising that they'd run an article like this. However, the article wasn't all that critical and just ran over the same "lack of experience" tirade that Clinton is still trying to push on people.

After reading the article, I've come to several conclusions:
1) Like Hillary and most of her supporters, Perez (who claims to "like" Obama as well) is willing to destroy the party's cohesiveness and Obama's reputation in the quest for a Hillary nomination.
2) The article is not "very critical" of Obama, it just mentions some concerns.
3) No one will take Perez seriously about politics anyways.

A one-time Clinton donor and Hollywood entrepreneur has filed a complaint with the Federal Election Commission asking it to reopen an investigation into a 2000 fundraiser that he helped organize for Hillary Rodham Clinton's Senate campaign.
The donor, Peter Paul, contends that Clinton's Senate campaign violated the law by not properly reporting nearly $2 million that he says he spent to arrange the event in Brentwood, Calif.

I hope you are not elligible to vote. Reagan was governor of California, the second largest staet at the time for eight years. Obama was a part time Senator in Illinois and has hardly voted in the US Senate and never on any controversial or politically sensitive vote he would have to explain. Lincoln was from a totally different day and time, it is not even comparable.
Actually, if you read the actual article, which apparently no one has done, it isn't that critical. Its pretty fair, and even possibly generous. It takes about the difficulties of balancing his high profile with the traditional role of being a Junior Senator. The same kind of problems Hillary had, in fact.

I am not even a Barack supporter, and I can tell that this article is not that negative. Perez, please read things closely before you decide the tone or content.
He votes on no controversial or politically sensitive vote because he doesn't want to have to explain his decisions. He is afraid of taking a stance when it really counts. He came to the Senate with the soul intent of running for President. He had not even been there two years when he declared his candidacy for President - taking that into consideration makes your rants against Hillary sound quite hollow. What I would really like to know is how Obama has gotten this far so fast in American politics without their being any corruption behind him, especially with such a slim resume? If he was a white man he would not have gotten this far, even John Edwards with a complete Senate term behind him where he actually voted, and with basically the same message it was said he didn't have enough experience. The Clintons are a machine, simply put. Hillary is a very intelligent woman, but she is an incredibly polarizing figure. Barack represents change, and we NEED change. The Clinton powerhouse will continue to pull out all the stops to get Hillary nominated, but they will divide the Democratic party in the process. If you look back in American history, the Dem races of '68 and '80 were extremely close, and the candidates got nasty with each other, just as is evolving today. And guess what? The Dem party lost both times.
Like him or not, Obama crosses party lines. He attracts a wide variety of voters. Clinton does not. And if she is the nominee, she WILL lose to McCain in November.
