This is considered critical? Hardly. It's more like a lullaby. Clearly the article shows that the reason there is not much to criticize is because Obama has few achievements to speak of. That's good for him, but not good enough for the American people who need a pro who understands the Hill, can play ball as well as get into a nasty war of words, and who has a resume of achievements, and yes, even losses.
If star power or his celebrity is the fuel to this engine, OMG, then you get what you deserve! I do not see the substance and am appalled that so many people are following him like babies to a breast to suckle on!

Women account for a higher percentage of voters than men in all parties (dem, rep, indie). She brought her way in to the state of NY bases on laws and lack of rivals and she wants pay to be president based on the fact that she was first lady. Should Mary Buno run for president because she was elected as a result of who her husband was. Perhaps both Mrs Bush's should run for spot in NYC when Hillary is gone, then run for president. How about Mrs Ford, clearly she earned it. Meanwhile there are hundreds of women that hold office, got elected to office and it had nothing to do with who they married or did not marry. Are we reading the same article? I was a reporter at a top newspaper for several years and this is hardly a criticism. All of the shortcomings highlighted are true and nothing that Obama has denied. He's just been intelligent enough to craft his campaign message to make those "weaknesses," like not being a Washington insider, as strengths. And you know what? Voters agree!

I don't think this is a very critical article, in fact it seems to be a pretty level and well researched account of any freshman senator's difficulties. "Mr. Obama’s determination not to back down, Mr. Feingold said, “struck me as an example of someone showing real guts.” There are good comments and bad, but that doesn't tell us anything about him as a presidential candidate.

The next time Hillary uses the recycled red phone ad, counter with one of your own. When the phone rings in the middle of the night, have a woman’s voice, with a flat Midwestern accent, answer it and say, “Hold on” into the receiver. Then she should shout, “Bill! It’s for you!”
Because with Hillary’s complete lack of any meaningful experience in foreign affairs, and her lack of the “testing” that she boldly claims, she’ll be yelling for Bill.

I read the entire article and I didn't think it was "very critical." I think that while the author of the article did point out some of Obama's flaws, he also was trying to make the point that as one of the most junior Senators, it is hard to make the change that he might have wanted to make. Unlike the House, the Senate is more conservative and based a lot more on seniority. There are people there who have been Senators for decades. It's hard for the new guy, but Obama managed to make critical connections. I felt the article was stressing that more than anything.
