Free speech sucks when it doesn't match your views, eh Perez? You hypocrite! I defy you to prove one word she said is wrong. A gay lifestyle IS risky. Homosexuality IS being sold to our children and our culture. God DOES say it's wrong. I am sorry that there are people like Sally Kern living in the world and believe it would be a very much improved world if she - and people sharing her views - were out of it, just as I believe it would be a better planet if there were no racists, anti-Semites, rapists or serial killers.
If these words seem intemperate, I nonetheless regard them as appropriate and proportional to the offense she has given. When I read the words uttered by this human filth masquerading as an elected public official, I could not help but think of Lawrence King, the California 8th grader shot to death by a classmate last month because he was gay. Or of Matt Sheperd, who ten years ago in 1998 in Laramie, Wyoming was crucified and left to die by two individuals sharing Sally Kern's views of homosexuality.

The fact is that many people still are uncomfortable around gay people. It's OK for them to have shits and giggles reading gay people's blogs and laughing at how they dress and talk and wear their hair and think they look good doing it (Perez). But very few people would be happy about living next to gay people or having them run their town councils.
Perez may be someone whose website we look at every day, but that doesn't mean we would want him in the neighborhood, or on the school board, or anything else.

The Bible is very clear about it (as clear as it is about the fact that we should leave all of the judging to God) As a Christian I feel sorry for people who think the gay lifestyle is acceptable. Yes, she does have the right to say whatever she wants…this is the USA after all. The thing that is bothersome is the fact that is is a working person in the government. Sally Kern is an Oklahoma State Legislator who apparently does not understand that equality of all man is part of what she is supposed to be speaking up for, she is a representative of all the people in her district (some of which are *gasp* gay), and also that her personal views about religion and sexuality have no place in government. Government is not a religious entity. Government does not and should not care what religion you worship or who you have sex with…whether it be the opposite sex or the same sex. Sally Kern certainly has no place in the government of the United States of America if she can not uphold the guidelines set forth by our forefathers.
So yes, she can say whatever the hell she wants but no, she can not make the remarks she did while speaking on the platform of her office as a representative of the United States.

I am disgusted and saddened by the words I heard you speak at the council meeting. This is exactly the kind of message that encourages people to commit hate crimes against people they believe to be gay. Eighth-grader Lawrence King was recently murdered – murdered – because a classmate was offended by his sexual orientation. So, homosexuality is a sin, but spurring on people to murder is not? You may not intend to encourage hate crimes necessarily, but your words, such as comparing homosexuality to cancer in the little toe, all but give permission to people who are equally intolerant to rid the “rest of the body,” or society, of human beings who are sexually attracted to a gender you don’t believe they should be. This is akin to a wink and a nod to anyone looking for an excuse to humiliate, rape, beat, and kill individuals whose private bedroom activity you don’t approve of.

Do you approve of sodomy? Should monogamous, married heterosexuals practicing sodomy be allowed to “infiltrate” or hold positions in city councils? Should they be allowed to be around two-year-olds? Are they a cancer that should be eliminated from society? I believe sodomy, like homosexuality, is condemned in the bible, so next time you condemn gay people, please specify that married men and women who voluntarily engage in this activity with each other should be equally condemned, “cut from the body of society,” killed. If you choose to spout ignorance and hatred, please be consistent. And please stop using euphemisms like “cutting cancer” from the body. Please say “murder” so that there can be no confusion about your position.

Lastly, you are woefully misinformed of the “studies” that show that societies openly accepting homosexuality crumble within a couple of decades. In fact, during the Roman Empire, sexual activity between men was widely accepted and practiced. This was one of the strongest modern civilizations to exist and did so for centuries not decades. Homosexual activity is also found in some other animal species, such as the Bonobo chimpanzee, our evolutionarily closest relative. Even if you don’t accept the concept of evolution, you cannot deny that this species shares over 99% of our DNA and is therefore similar to us in many ways and is an example of homosexuality in the “natural” world.
