As the fifth season is set to debut later this month…
Showtime has announced that their very successful lesbionically delicious drama The L Word will end its run on the network next year.
By the time the last episode airs, the show will be one of the longest running programs in cable TV history with six seasons.
According to the net, fan input will play a part in wrapping up the series' story lines, noting the role that viewer input has played in the past.
Goodbye ladies and good run!

This is terrible news! This show was the first show that depicted lesbians in a positive way for most of the show. This is definitely a sad day for all lesbians. I will miss my Sunday date night.

I have to agree with you #110. I loved this show for many seasons, but it has grown quite stale. Their whole "Les Girls" movie plot line is tired and they are banking way too much on the lesbian sex scenes. Where are the great storylines anymore? And yes- please kill Max. It's really boring trying to figure out if he/she is going to get a sex change, screw women, and oh, now screw a gay man. I'm over it!

Sorry, and please know that I love this show, but after watching the show last night and seeing the previews for the last two episodes I have to agree with Showtime. Time to pull the plug. So far, the story lines weren't that strong this year, again this is just my opinion. And watching the previews for the last two episodes, guns…really!!!
I think this was just the writers way of trying to end this season with a really great cliff hanger because I don't think they know where else to take these relationships.
Bette and Tina getting back together again. How unhealthy! I have to raise my hand here and cry fowl. Last night's episode was one step away from Brokeback Bette Mountain. I was waiting for Tina to directly say, "I can't quit her!" Was anyone else seeing this? The writers have "stalled out" with Max's character. Where ya' going with this one? What's the update with Helena? Last we saw her running down the street (or into the sunset for you romatics).
Driving to work this morning, I thought to myself, I wonder if Showtime is going to pull the plug on this show and Eureka! I have my answer. All good things must come to and end and it is time.
