Instead of distancing themselves from her vitriol, Republicans in the state of Oklahoma are applauding congresswoman Sally Kern for saying such small-minded and hateful things like….gays are worse than terrorists.
Really!
Kern told reporters that her fellow Republicans in Oklahoma gave her a standing ovation on Monday.
And, she has vowed not to apologize for her hateful words.
Insane!

NO ONE who has spent time in OK is surprised in the slightest about this abomination of a human being's actions; indeed, Republicans have run for years on the basic "God, guns, and gays" platform — in favor of the first two, opposed to the third. My neck of the OK woods (once upon a time; thank God I'm not there now) once had a great U.S. Representative named Mike Synar, a liberal Democrat who served us well. An unmarried liberal Democrat — and so of course, during the last primary the late Rep. Synar entered, a whispering campaign ("My gawd–he's a ho-mo-sexual!") took place in hundreds of small Baptist congregations across the district and Synar — who died a couple years afterwards — was defeated by a conservative, who himself was defeated by the Republican candidate in the general election. This is just business as usual in Oklahoma, a state firmly rooted in hatred and malice.

Old District 2, the more liberal part of the state, never had a problem with Synar maybe or maybe not being gay. Like you said: God, Guns and Gays - Guns have always been more important than gays to those folks. Synar agreed with gun restriction and so lost his seat. He was a great US Rep though!
