Kern told reporters that her fellow Republicans in Oklahoma gave her a standing ovation on Monday.
And, she has vowed not to apologize for her hateful words.

it's small-minded and ignorant people who are elected to office that keep driving the hatred down to all the people they are supposed to represent. My stance on this and any other politicians blabber against any gay rights is that each person, no matter what orientation have the same rights as anyone else who is and American (see basic foundation of our Constitution). If gay people pay taxes (which are often higher tax rates than families since obviously most states don't allow then to civil union or marry) they should be automatically heard by politicians and have no issue approving basic rights that are given to any other persons (and locally in our case to illegal imigrants are treated with more respect than gay citizens). Anyways i just think that if gay people don't get the same rights, protection. AND RESPECT they should be exempt from taxes and much, much more. Then I bet a whole lot of people would be jumping out of the closet so they won't have to pay taxes then….In my opinion she is a very sad person that doesn't deserve the opportunity to serve as an advocate to anyone and should be removed from office.

Although I don't agree with homosexuality, Shane did raise a good point. Homosexuals have contributed much to the arts, like Leonardo DaVinci and Shakespeare. Leonardo composed amazing sketches of inventions that didn't come along till hundreds of years later. Shakespeare wrote beautiful, flowing sonnets. I have to respond to akwilson here - Oklahoma is actually not a poor state. We only act poor sometimes - the budget windfalls for Oklahoma are pretty nice and of course we have all types of rainy day funds past and present. We are however I believe 9th in obesity rates and lower on education but then again we have fewer total number of school districts which tends to skew the ratings. Still the general statements are correct. Like many other Oklahomans here - it pains me to see my state which is finally growing and catching up with others - degraded by ill-conceived statements from a person who isn't on the same page as the rest of us. Oklahoma has it's oil industry but beyond that we have an increasingly large technology market including everything from bio-tech to social networking.
If you are tired with having these people represent you, don't bitch on a message board - LET THEM KNOW!

Free speech is fine, but responsibility should override that. She is in a position of power, and speaks for many people. Therefore, when she spoke in such a way, it was implied that she spoke the minds of every single one of those people. I doubt, however, that this is the case.
