Actually Harry Nilsson covered it too, but he is the one who made it famous. The band Badfinger originally wrote it, but it was an obscure album track for them.
There are some people on here saying things like "nobody likes Mariah Carey." Well…I have to say, you look pretty stupid saying something like that. Who are the 6 million people in the US who bought her last album then? How has she gotten all these huge #1 records? Because nobody likes her? Idiots!

Then Miss Mariah covered it again in 93 which is by far the best version cuz she out of all those she has the best voice. Nelsons version is so dull and makes me want to commit suicide.

You people who are correcting Perez are idiots. First of all, the girl introduces the song as a Mariah Carey song. Second, our generation clearly recognizes it first and foremost as a Carey song, which is a tribute to both her powerful vocal style and what a great song it originally was. Lastly, she clearly sings it IN Carey's style - or at least tries at her feeblest to do so.
