The National Enquirer has the first photo of Patrick Swayze since news broke that he has the extremely fatal pancreatic cancer….
And he's fucking smoking!!!!!!!!!!
The photo, taken this Monday, shows a gaunt-looking Swayze at a small airport in northern California.
And HE'S SMOKING!!!!!!! While he's still getting treatment. This boggles our mind!
He is poisoning his body as he is trying to get better.
Maybe he's just resigned himself to the sad fact that no matter what he does, he will likely die in a few months????

It has been reported that Patrick had a disgusting THREE PACK A DAY cigarette habit.
NO ONE should be smoking that much!

ok i replied without reading any comments and i am glad to see my idea was mentioned at #8! seriously. driving in a fucking car can kill you, drunk or not. obviously we all want to be able to choose when we die but if it doesn't happen that way you might as well get what pleasure you can while you can.

It is hard to quit even when you are faced with an illness. Smoking is a horrible addiction. But having people in your face telling you that doesn't help. Its a lifestyle choice just like you choosing to be fat was your choice.
His habit might be disgusting, but I'm digusted with you and all other media that won't leave him alone. His cancer is likely terminal; must he be hounded during his last days (however many may be left)? What satisfaction do you get out of looking down your nose at him?? And yes, completely quitting at this stage would shock his body and that's the last thing he needs. Leave him alone.

STFU - I watched my cousin die of this disease and trust me nothing he does right now is going to change the outcome. This is a painful, fast moving disease and he needs to be left alone while he does what he can do to enjoy his last days. BTW, my cousin was 37 and a non-smoker. The only risk factor she had was her weight - you may want to stop with blaming the cigarettes and think about shedding a few pounds yourself.
Smoking IS terrible for oyu and NOBODY should ever start…but the guy is already dying, let him enjoy himself.

I happen to believe that people who are terminally ill should be able to live out their last days as they see fit and if he feels like smoking and that makes him feel better in the last days of his life, well, then who are we to say it's wrong!? It's too late, the damage is done.

You'd be surprised at the number who do exactly that. Smoking is an addiction, and addicts that quit are still addicts, they still have that craving. My grandfather quit smoking over 25 years ago, when he was diagnosed with cancer, he started back, he said he never stopped wanting one.
I like to put it this way, life is short, no matter what you do. Life can always
throw you the ace card. I know smokers who have lived well into their 90's and non smokers who have gotten cancer and died at 25. It's a fucked up world, all we can do is make the best of it how we do. If that means having that smoke, let him do it. He may be terminal and if that smoke makes him happy, let him have it. Sorry, I know most won't agree, but as someone with a terminal illness you find out that avoiding your vices for ages doesn't always mean you save yourself.

I'm sorry, that picture looks as much like PS as I do. Which is not a whole hell of a lot. But I have to commend Perez for his condemnation of smoking.
It's unfortunate that the first photo we see after hearing the sad news is one of him smoking.
My dear dad died 10 weeks ago of lung cancer and he carried on smoking up until a week before he died.
We never made our dad fell guilty for continuing to smoke and he would have been miserable without a cigarette so whats the point if you know you are terminal.
My father died of pancreatic cancer at 50 years old. He smoked for almost his whole life… Its so sad that somthing you choose to do can kill you. He smoked until the last day of his life. Why would you quit smoking when you know you will die? Its the last comfort you have. I dont agree with it, of course, but I understand it. My heart goes out to the Swayze family.

I agree, smoking to people who dont smoke is considered disgusting. And it can (not 100% of the time) kill you. But thats just like a vegetarian telling someoe who eats meat that they are disgusting. Smoking is something that people choose to do, so let them. Now if he was smoking in a confined area with non-smokers, then yes, say something about it. But he is outside, let him smoke. This is one picture with him (who i am still skeptical, because it looks NOTHING like him) smoking one cigarette. How are we to know that its not his first smoke of the day? or 2nd? Maybe he has cut down to 1/2 a pack a day, or even a couple smokes a day?? You can't judge someone so harshly from one picture. I say, leave him alone. Instead of posting negative comments and blogs about him, how about recapping his greater moments? Like talk about his movies (Dirty Dancing is one of my favourites) talk about his awards, things he has done.

it is true that at this point with pancreatic cancer, the worst in my opinion, he's going to die soon anyway. not worth the struggle and discomfort of quitting a lifestyle— smokers need their cigs, esp at a time like this. of course, i think it's awful, but that's how it goes.

Umm, the reason it doesn't look like him is because being terminally ill deteriorates your looks. Your face becomes gaunt and your skin turns sallow. You also become physically and emotionally exhausted.
You can't undo years and years of constant smoking overnight. Smoking should really be made illegal just as crack and heroin is illegal. Don't sell ciggarettes in stores anymore. It just kills people.

Yes, it would be ideal if he was to quit smoking slowly. But if his pancreatic cancer is terminal, why should he put forth the effort to stop smoking if he's going to die anyway. He may as well continue with his habit (and possibly enjoy it) until it's his time. If I were dying, why would I want to give up something I like to do, whether it's killing me or not.
Chemotherapy is poison to the body as well. His type of cancer is known to be very aggressive and highly fatal. All chemo can do really is extend his life by a few months. If he were to quit smoking, he might actually be worse off as his body tries to handle chemo AND withdrawl. Let him be.

going through a trauma and quitting smoking would be the hardest thing to do- quitting smoking is painful and excrciatingly hard- no one should judge that ever
You don't know his exact diagnosis or his doctor's recommendations so you really shouldn't judge Perez. We all know smoking is bad for you. But once you get the big C it really cannot do much more damage. smoking will not make your cancer worse. And in serious cancer cases, some doctors will actually forbid their patients from trying to quit if it is very difficult and stressful, because the bottom line is that they're trying to make the patient feel better, not necessarily trying to cure the cancer.
The Enquirer is a worthless piece of shit paper, this photo looks fake to me. My brother recently passed away from malignant melanoma, honestly in his last days, if a ciggie would have brought him comfort, I would have bought him a whole carton.
I would be smoking too if I knew I was dying. Pancreatic cancer kills much faster and is a very painful death. I think he should be smoking some Mary Janes instead. Its the best drug for this and any terminal disease.

My Mom's Dad was so addicted to smoking he used to think the glow from the monitor on his finger tip was a cig and tried to smoke it. He died of throat cancer. My Mom and Dad both died from cancer and were heavy smokers. Both continued to smoke til their last day. I understand Perez's frustration. Why on Earth continue to take in the very thing that is killing you? My older sister is 45 and on a ventilator because she has destroyed her lungs with the damn things. My older brother was recently disgnosed with cancer and he still continues to smoke. I would give anything if he would quit.

Ive been smoking for a little over 5 yrs now and being addicted isnt easy. Yeah, he may have a serious illness but all he knows how to cope with stress is smoking. I dont smoke as much as he does and Ive tired to quit and its not a walk in the park. So please, if you dont smoke, cut the guy some slack. Hes trying.

Consumption of alcohol and cigarrettes are two of the biggest causes of pancreatic cancer. I hope this is a valuable lesson to all the young people out there smoking and getting plastered because they think it's cool. Cancer is not cool, ask Patrick. Cigs also cause premature aging and wrinkling of the skin so why movie stars do it is even more perplexing.
