The National Enquirer has the first photo of Patrick Swayze since news broke that he has the extremely fatal pancreatic cancer….
And he's fucking smoking!!!!!!!!!!
The photo, taken this Monday, shows a gaunt-looking Swayze at a small airport in northern California.
And HE'S SMOKING!!!!!!! While he's still getting treatment. This boggles our mind!
He is poisoning his body as he is trying to get better.
Maybe he's just resigned himself to the sad fact that no matter what he does, he will likely die in a few months????
Sad.
It has been reported that Patrick had a disgusting THREE PACK A DAY cigarette habit.
NO ONE should be smoking that much!
You really shouldn't be smoking at all, we think.

Pancreatic cancer can't be cured and is very painfull. You want to take away the little pleasure he has from smoking a cigarette? Are you out of your mind or what? He should do everything he still wants and can and all at the same time if possible and/or necessary. By the way, cigarettes alone don't kill, it depends on the circumstances. Bad food for a long time, that kills, even years later. People that have suffered, like in the war, carry the consequences years later and still dy of it. People that have worked with asbestos (the miracle stuff!) die of it sooner or later. Ask people that r e a l l y know. But OK let's stop smoking, all of us. Obviously the taxes on other things will go up tremendously, because smokers, drinkers and in some countries drivers pay the highest tax rates of all. Take it all away and the economy will collapse. We don't make sure that factories have filters, we don't really check their emissions - not even when they're subsidised - we just pretend. Surely it is easier to atack the people in the street than to take on the big fellows. A nucleair blast? Just give them jodium pills, stay inside etc. yeahh! Let's make people happy with fairytales!
What the hell has smoking got to do with getting pancreatic cancer? If you were diagnosed with cancer, hell, what the hell's to stop you puffing. Surely life's crumby enough for the poor guy at the minute without attacking him for smoking.

yes, cigarettes ARE poison. but so is chemotherapy. it literally poisons your body, kills brain cells, can cause permanent loss of sensation in one's extremeties… this isn't a "something good, something bad" situation - they're both fucking bad for you.
of course, it would be better had he never started smoking, and he may be hindering his current treatment, i don't know. but it's not black and white like you make it seem.
Pancreatic cancer has like a 5% survival rate and to treat it they have to remove virtually all of your digestive tract. Let the poor man smoke it doesn't matter anymore

If he hadn't quit before, it it oo much stress on his body to quit now. Cut back but not quit. Also gigs help fight the nausea and problems eating after chemo.
My mom just died at the age of 61 from COPD. She had been diagnosed with lung cancer 3 years ago and seemed to beat the cancer but not the COPD which is just as bad but less considered as being. She was told everyday by family, friends, and doctors not to smoke!!! I think when you bother and bother a smoker enough the stress of having to hide and feel ashamed of their habit will kill them!!! If smoking is indeed so deadly then we need to make it illegal right?? Maybe smoking pot, which is an herb, should be legal and cigarettes should be illegal??

How utterly ridiculous that you think for ANY reason someone can quit smoking cold turkey! It's physically and mentally addicting, AND he's going through one of the hardest times in his life. Unfortunately, smoking gives a calming feeling that smokers learn to turn to. His diagnosis hasn't changed that. GIVE HIM SOME TIME!!!!
I have seen a person I loved dearly die from pancreatic cancer. Being resigned to die is about all you can do. Once it gets to an advanced stage no amount of treatments can really stop it. There is no cure for it. Smoking doesn't make it worse or better. Quitting smoking does cause health problems in and of itself. When you finally quit though your health is much better. But I don't think Patrick has that kind of time left. Patrick would be better off enjoying the things he enjoys while he's still alive and not worry about quitting smoking. I know if I knew I was dying in a short time I would do whatever I wanted to so I could enjoy my last few days on earth and treasure my moments. We are all dying anyway from the moment we are born so we should all be living our lives like we are dying anyway. I agree that smoking may not be the best thing for him but at this point quitting would be worse and why shouldn't he enjoy himself?

Speaking as someone who has had cancer, if he is going to die, let him die with a cigerette in his mouth if he wants to. Unless you have gone through Chemo and other therapies for cancer, you do not know what kind of stress they put on your body. If he chooses to smoke that is HIS choice. Lay the hell off the man.

Whats more important here.That Patrick is smoking or that he is battling for his live with pancreatic cancer think the focus should be on the pancreatic cancer.We need the kind of money that has been sunk into smoking and second hand smoke and start to apply this to trying to get some kind of cure for this most deadly of cancers and the most underfunded of all the cancers.I think we should have a separate forum for the smoking issue as it seems to be taking away what the real problem is is that 98 percent of those with pancreatic cancer do not survive beyond 5 years.We all deal with live threatening situations in different ways and I think however he wants to deal with this is his choice.
Lay off Patrick! When my Mom got breast cancer 10 years ago she started smoking again after quitting for 7 years. It is a very stressful thing to go through and sometimes people need their vices. You can't ever begin to pretend you know what it is like to have cancer and try and fight it!

nicotine addiction is the hardest to give up. loosing weight is much easier. you see your lard and see the demons that keep it there. people who smoke aren't stupid, they know it is bad for them. you are not stupid, you know that whole pie you just ate is bad for you. but giving up lard is way easier than nicotine - i know, i have done both. live by example and eat a salad or walk around the block. use your words to encourage people to do good, not criticize the sick. do you think your hateful words will really make him quit? just because he smokes, he is not worthy of your prayers?

I think Patrick Swayze is very brave, if l knew l only had a few months to live l think l would also think what the hell and continue smoking, if he smokes 3 packs aday it will be even harder to give up. I say, if it makes him happy and feel better….keep smoking! get well soon Patrick…. xx

Give him a break!! He is dying, if he only has a short while left, whats the point and quitting smoking now..to little too late .. Proven that its worst than herion addiction! doesnt seem the goverment wants to help people quit, they make so much money on taxes. Patches are expensive, the pills are over 100.00 it is crazy. It seems they would lower cost to help people get off cigerates I'm sure Patrick has the money for other options to quit but it is a terrible addictive habit and unfortunely little he can do now.

Perez please read this before discussing Mr. Swayze's situation again.
My father is currently battling pancreatic cancer as he was diagnosed with this deadly form of cancer 16 months ago.
He was one of the luck ones in that he was able to have surgery which is the only way anyone can survive this cancer.
Only 25% of pancreatic cancer patients can have the surgery (Whipple Surgery) to remove the tumor because by the time 75% of patients are finally diagnosed with the disease the tumor is too large to remove.
Unfortunately it has been confirmed Swayze was not able to have the surgery.
For those who cannot have the surgery the average life expectancy is 6 months after diagnosis. So depending on when Swayze was diagnosed he has weeks or a few months to live.
There is no cure for pancreatic cancer. There are various chemotherapy options but all options only prolong life expectancy in months, yes months not years.
Even of those who can have the surgery only 5-10% live 5 years after surgery.
So the chemotherapy that Swayze is undergoing is simply a hope, simply a way to prolong life. It is more about hope that a cure will be found that can reverse the effects of this disease that spreads throughout the entire body at will. The current drugs only slow down the spread of this disease slightly, it does not stop it from spreading.
