Swayze's Mom Speaks Out

wenn661130__opt1.jpg

Patrick Swayze has remained tight-lipped since news of his fight with pancreatic cancer became public.

Friends and former colleagues have spoken out about the Dirty Dancing star, and now his mom is talking publicly about her ailing son.

“He doesn’t deserve to get this,” Patrick’s 81-year-old mother, Patsy, told the National Enquirer. “He just doesn’t deserve it. He’s got such a big heart. He’s been such a good and generous and thoughtful person. It breaks my heart to know he’s suffering. But he bears it and he’s determined to beat this. He’s hanging in there and getting the best treatment he can.”

Patsy told the mag that her son has been ‘humbled’ by the support he has received since word of his illness became public. And a family insider says that Swayze has been strong for the people around him.

“Patrick as usual, is worried more about other people than himself."

Stay strong (and smoke less)!

    Patrick
My prayers are with. God has plenty of angels and we would like to keep you here with us longer. With God's help, may your pain ease and your illness be minimal. What you have given to me thru movies and your smile make my days much better. My son lives in LA and I keep asking for you for Christmas, so I need you to get well so he can send me a new movie.
Your heart shows thru in everything you do.
    God Bless Always.

Well NOBODY who gets cancer deserves it, not just Patrick Swayze! My grandpa would possibly still be alive today had he not had pancreatic cancer and died of it (although he'd be 94 years old by now) Same goes for my husband's grandpa - it's scary!! Pancreatic cancer has one of the lowest cure rates (less than 10 percent) because it hides itself so well and can spread quickly, but I am really hoping Patrick will be able to beat it somehow.

Re: Onlydreamin – Thanks for your comment. As a person with pancreatic disease your right. My doctor has no issue with my own smoking and it does help in the way of pain control. To all those who are preaching for him to stop dont speak unless you know. Its sad enough to hear about his situation dont make it worse by becoming the anti-smoking, he should be living his life this way pain in the ass people.

Patrick also didn't deserve National Inquirer's headline that he had 5 - 6 weeks to live. That was not HIS prognosis - just a prognosis of the most aggressive form of his illness - thereby speculating and quoting medical jargon. Cheap form of selling mags/rags.

Patrick lived a pretty quiet life and so sorry this has his him - or anyone else.
But, at least give him the dignity and respect any human deserves. He's one of the best!!

National Enquirer you have stooped to real sleaze/slime this time!
No Shame to your Game! BUT - shame on you, anyway!!!! Idiots!!

That was a really shitty comment Perez. Stop listening to yourself for a second and re-read your stuff. Less smoking. My mom died of pancreatic cancer and was a non-smoker. Shut up about things you don't know about you dumb cunt!!!

You are becoming a lil' too familiar and lazy in your research and writing. Stop doing videos and magazine shoots and take care of your demising and dwindling product.

No mother should live to see their child suffer, it's worse than your own death or suffering. I hurt for her as a parent. I wish Patrick a miraculous recovery and that he and his family don't have to suffer like this. My heart goes out to him and his whole family. Cancer is a beast and unfortunately, many families know what they are now going thru, there is no description for the pain.

Perez, lay off the smoking. People don't get pancreatic cancer from smoking. He's dying anyhow. Pancreatic cancer is really a bad disease, let him enjoy the smokes while he can.

It's just not fair. Patrick Swayze - a celebrity who's never done anything irritating or obnoxious - gets cancer and yet Paris Hilton remains healthy and able to continue leaving her trails of slime across the Earth. He doesn't deserve this at all.

    112

No one "deserves" to get cancer. What a stupid thing to say. Just cuz he was nice to some people, means nothing. I didn't know that smoking contributed to pancreatic cancer. With all of my bad habits, I'm glad smoking was never one of them. Get better Patrick S!

It drives me nuts when someone uses the phrase 'he doesn't deserve this' or 'she didn't deserve to die like this'. So, who does?! Shit happens to everyone. You don't get cancer as a punishment any more than you get a cold as a punishment!

I have tried to keep tight lipped myself about the fact that he is only referred to as the "Dirty Dancing" actor… you make it sound like that is all he did throughout his career.

  26. Lindsay says – reply to this

    126

You know, Perez, maybe he knows more than everyone knows and maybe he really is going to die and there is no avoiding it. For this reason I say to everyone to leave him the eff alone for smoking. It's his business and his body. If it were me and I knew I were going to die I would smoke as much as I wanted and tell everyone eff off cause It's my body and nobody else's business. And I would probably punch someone and go balistic on them for telling me not to smoke. Then I would put a butt out in their eye.

  27. Sarah says – reply to this

    127

    Perez….

I don't think smoking less really matters at this point. Leave him alone and let him enjoy his last days even if it means smoking.

With regards to the comment below i completely agree with Onlydreamin. There was no need to get that last final smart arsed remark in. A person is terminally ill here and all you can do to boost your ratings and your super sick ego is say something derogative and not appropriate to the post. Pancreatic cancer is not associated with smoking… and as onlydreamin said that withdrawal symptoms would be extremely traumatic. People have smoked for years are advised by their doctors not to give up suddenly as the body is suddenly stripped of chemicals that are there for a long time and leave their system open to new and sometimes very devastating infections.
Perez, i love your website but please, for people like Patrick, his fans, or people who are visiting this site who have lost people through the same circumstances, do not post comments that are not necessary.

Perez, PLEASE. This man is dying. As I mentioned in an earlier post, from professional experience I can tell you that smoking is NOT going to affect his outcome. He has pancreatic cancer. Kicking the habit now will only add to the discomfort he is in, something I'm sure his doctors have discussed with him. Withdrawal on top of chemo and the symptoms associated with this cancer do not add up. Please, people need to be more educated about terminal illness. These anti-smoking posts, while useful elsewhere, are just plain wrong and go against a palliative approach here.

LEAVE THE DYING MAN ALONE!!!! If he wants to smoke, why does anyone give a shit…. It is his life however long he has….. He should be drugging, drinking,, hitting up prostiutes etc… SMOKING DOES NOT CAUSE PANCREATIC CANCER!!!!

I am a fan of Patrick Swazye in Dirty Dancing- one of my all time favorite movies. My mom died of pancreas cancer at 59 yrs old, just about 2 yrs ago now. It is one of the worst cancers to have because there are no symptoms and it's hard to treat. Once it's discovered, it's usually too late. :( No one deserves cancer. I wish Patrick well, I sure hope his cancer is treatable. I miss my mom. :(

It's always sad when someone gets cancer - but the man is said to have smoked 3 packs a day for how long?! It can't come as a complete surprize.

And what's with that "first"? It's annoying now…

SO SORRY BUT NO ONE CARES! REGULAR NON-CELEBRITIES DIE EVERYDAY, AND NO ONE GIVES A FUCK. BUT GOD FORBID SOME 80S HAS BEEN IS ON THE VERGE OF DEATH, ITS A NATIONAL TRAGEDY. WHO CARES!?! WOULD HE GIVE A SHIT ABOUT YOUR MOTHER IF SHE HAD CANCER, OR IF YOU WERE IN A COMA FROM A CAR ACCIDENT? NO! WHY THE HELL SHOULD WE CARE ABOUT THIS DUDE? IT MAKES NO SENSE. FUCK HIM. HE HAS THE MONEY TO GET WHATEVER TREATMENTS HE AND MEDS HE CAN. I WISH US "COMMON FOLK" WOULD BE AS LUCKY. IT'S NOT LIKE THIS DUDE CHANGED LIVES.

  37. Ciani says – reply to this

    137

Perez, you really should give him a break on the smoking thing. Most doctors will tell you that the time to quit is not while your body is already undergoing extreme trauma. The withdrawal could derail any progress he makes.

Sure smoking is bad, but give the man a break.

  38. Lori Lee says – reply to this

    138

Cigarette's killed my Grandfather. He just couldn't smoke enough of those damn things. It didn't matter how much I begged and pleaded he just couldn't quit them. So if there are any young people out there thinking about smoking—don't— because there isn't anything beneficial about it.

Ever since you reported Patrick's disease, my side is killing me. I'm serious. Sympathetic pain I guess. Anyway, how about some more updates? We haven't heard much about his condition since your initial report.
We want to see him beat this.
