If I remember correctly it was the Clinton's who pulled the race card first. They are the racist bigots, not Barack's camp. Wow I don't even know where to begin. I never said all black people are getting free rides for education. I said many of them are favored in schools to achieve a proper "well-rounded" status. And no even if all black people were offered free rides, ghettos would still exist. I'm not saying this in a racist way as if black people don't want to go to school. But a portion of people living in ghettos or just poverty (black or white) chose the wrong paths for their life and allowed drugs to interfere. Offering free rides to everyone is extremely unrealistic and completely not what I was saying. All I'm saying is that it is unfair for black to play the race card and expect advantages because of their race. I do feel that your commentary is relevant considering the amount of media coverage and young Hollywood's love affair with the candidates (Obama in particular). It seems that, since the Clinton/Bush race that celebrities have been more vocal in their endorsements, and it is interesting to see how this impacts voters, if at all. I appreciate that with this clip that you are willing to introduce your readers to the possibility that the "race card" can be played both ways. It is not about Hillary being right and Obama wrong or vise versa. Why not let this open up the dialogue about racism, race baiting and using the label of "racist" to detonate the oponent's campaign? Does name calling and innuendo trivialize the "racism label"? Discuss! Again, Keep up the good work Perez, and I look forward to reading similar stories (interspersed with the gossip of course) in the future!!!

The Clintons don't have many cards left and one that has been played a time or two throughout their campaign is the race card. In combination with other cards, such as the fear card, the victim card, the pity card, the feminine sympathy card, the "shame on you" moral outrage card, the "you don't have to choose, you can have us both" card, it can be effective–that's why they call it the kitchen sink strategy.
One would hope, however, over the next six weeks going into Pennsylvania, that people would begin to recognize cards for what they are–political ploys. What these cards do get is ATTENTION even if its negative. The fact is, every time Clinton plays a card, we are talking about it. And as long as they can continue to set the talking points on the news channels, that works to their favor.
I just first have to say how sick the media sometimes makes me. FOX news??? They are doing everything in their power to make Obama look bad just so Hilary recieves the nomination. I guess we agree in some sense. But I have to say, in the area I live in, I have never seen racism towards blacks. And I have black friends who I spend a lot of time with. Of course this isn't saying that I would see all racism that occurs. But I am faced with more reverse racism than I have seen actual racism. Black people have been very rude to me and it's unfortunate because I was polite and had nothing against them until then. I also say this because I'm in college right now, and it's a pretty good school and many black people for cliques. They are very rude towards white, like very openly mean. And I see them do their work, such as presentations and a lot of them don't seem to put effort into the things they do but then I know there are other kids who are not admitted to school but work hard for everything. All I'm saying, and I think you agree, is that racism in general is sick, whether it is blacks against whites or whites against black. And I personally don't agree with situations where black are favored because of their race just as I would disagree with a situation where I saw a white person favored because of their race.

African Americans do not possess the economical resources to be racist. As an African American, I do not share Jeremiah Wright’s views. Either Hillary or McCain is using a campaign strategy of character assignation. Dirty politics, the race can work both ways in benefiting the opposing candidate. Every presidential election year, the right wing party subliminally infiltrates the people’s psyche whether the message is fear of race, gays, or welfare recipients eroding American economy. Many African American do take accountability as a group the failure to obtain economical status to assimilate into Anglo-Saxon society. We all do not blame the “man” for all our problems. It’s exhausting, Americans’ intelligent is always undermined. Politicians need to discuss the issues that are important to constituents instead of avoiding them. The oldest strategy in politics and we still haven’t gotten any wiser.
