I don't know why anyone is surprised. Racism is alive and well in this country, and I'm not talking about the KKK (although, to be clear, the KKK is horrible, too). Hey Perez, Hillary is not a supporter of people of color. She has made that very clear in her open mockery of the southern African American preachers just recently. And unlike Obama, Hillary hasn't been attending the church of Ferraro for 20 years, being told that she's entitled to whatever she wants, that she's being opressed and discriminated against, and all the other BS that spews out of that "revereand's" mouth. It's a completely different relationship dynamic, Ferraro isn't Hillary's mentor, and not the person she seeks for spiritual advice, and does not preach every Sunday from a pulpit with Hillary in a pew. Furthermore, it's true, even if it's not PC to say, if Barack Obama's father had been white, Obama would not have stood a chance against Hillary Clinton and he, not Edwards, would have been the one to drop out. His rhetoric about hope and change would not have carried him w/o the substance of experience and plans for change. Almost 90% of black votes have gone to Obama, whereas the white vote is fairly divided between the two. That indicates that black people are voting according to race and white people are voting according to the issues. So who's racist???

Barrack is a publicly declared Christian. I think his understanding of Islam from his childhood could only well serve to bridge that divide and cool down the negative international rhetoric. The current admin's cowboy rhetoric and aggressive foreign policy has inflamed America and much of the world. No one president could make an entire country turn Islam, and especially this one. That Obama 'hussein' thing/concept is not only paranoidly absurd and laughable, but would be impossible, and you all know it. He would last about 2 hours if he tried. This is the land where the KKK still exists due in part to freedom of speech and the constitution. Obama hopes to try for multi-border understanding, but is no push over. Clinton feels like just more of the same old-same old, just in a different colored coat, versus McCain, who is sounding very much like a Bush echo. I wish Colin Powell had run (post-epiphany) or Michael Moore. That would have been really interesting. Hillary does have some credible experience. It seems to me that none of the candidates are an ideal choice. It's a tough one. The ambitious aren't necessarily the most qualified. Gore was very qualified. The next year will be interesting at the very least.

Sad. To think we've come so far only to find out we have not. I was seriously leaning toward Barak, but now I have doubts. I had even gone to his web site trying to learn more about him. Now I am afraid that voting for him would be an endorsement of Wright. I can't abide by that. While these comments are sensationalist, there is more truth in them than you can know, Perez. I mean, I'm pretty sure nobody has ever called Hillary the N word. When Geraldine Ferraro made those disgusting, racist comments about Obama, and then acted indignant when anyone tried to call her on it, HIllary's people tried to equate it with Samantha Powers calling Hillary a monster. While Ms. Powers was foolish to say these things, they were only about Hillary. Ferraro's comments insulted the achievements of a large section of the American population, including black people and anyone who recognizes why these comments are intolerable from anyone, especially a leader in teh Democratic party. Re: Alanna – Bill said nothing "blatantly racist!" You interpreted it that way. All he stated was a fact: Jesse Jackson IS BLACK, but he failed to win the Democratic nomination in '88 (I believe). Forgive me, I'm working from memory here. Jesse gave a wonderful speech that can almost be liked to MLK's "I have a dream" speech. My whole family watched it on television. But it wasn't enough for him to win. That was 20 odd years ago–things have changed dramatically during the years. While Jackson had the majority of the African-American vote, it made no difference, he still didn't win. Perhaps this is what Bill Clinton was alluding to as far as Obama is concerned. But people will interpret things (or spin them) the way they want.
