I'm sorry-whether what Ferraro said was racist or not-it's the TRUTH which is why she won't apologize!! I love all races but I mean come on people. If Borack was a white man he wouldn't be there. John Edwards has more experience than this guy so what gives Borack the advantage over Edwards?? At least if Hillary was a man counting all her experience then she would still be there. How is someone that can't make decisions for his own state and that gets lost in white house suppose to lead the country??

First, Jesus was born in the Middle East, so he'd be Arabic in ethnicity, not white or black. Many Italians are also descended from Middle Eastern people who dispersed throughout Europe. I think the reverend was just having a breakdown of some sort; however, the alter is not the place for politics, and he may risk his tax exemption by advocating for a political candidate. I don't believe he is a racist. He is ignorant to the plight of women in America, just as some posters here are ignorant to the plight of black people in America. Before getting so defensive, maybe you should look at things from the perspective of, say, a 70-year old black male. He remembers segregation, where his grandfather was called "boy" and worse, and being told you were worthless and unhuman from birth by all of society. Young black boys are harrassed by police, often for being black in public. If that was your experience for your entire life, and the lives of your ancestors, in this country, you might have a huge chip on your shoulder. MAYBE, if we, as whites, admitted and owned up to the racism that is continuing in this country, the black people with chips (which, of course, is not all or even most black people) will soften to the idea that not all whites are against them. The reverend may be reacting to the defensiveness of white Americans that they, in all their enlightenment, could possibly still be racist on some unconscious level.

In our town we were not allowed to attend certain academics and stuff because we were Jewish. He and his wife chose this pastor to marry them and baptize their children. His sermons have inspired speeches and books given/written by Obama, in some cases, Wright's phrases have been used word for word. Obama publicly claims this man as his mentor and spiritual advisor. How can you possibly say Obama doesn't know what this man stands for, let alone say he doesn't agree with him??? This sermon on YouTube is not a one-off, if you do any research at all, read or listen to interviews with him or other sermons, the hate and the racism is readily apparent.

Oh Please!! It's about race because this is America. Everyone who isn't black should not comment about growing up and living in a racist society because you have no idea what it's like. I have lived in large cities but grew up in a small town and race is always brought up. Four things are fundamentally wrong with this very unarticulate, racist and uneducated "reverend":
1. Romans in the time of Jesus were not Italians. Rather, Italians are mostly roman in ethnicity. Many Spaniards and other mediterranean citizens also have Roman bllod.
2. Jesus was not black, sorry if that offends you, but he was not. He was a jewish man of Middle Eastern race. He was most likely olive-skinned.
3. He keeps saying that God teaches him to love his "enemies". He states this after talking about white people. So, to this man, all white people are his enemies, a hatred approved by God. Interesting concept of christianity.
4. The person whom we elect as president should be one capable of getting us out of this Depression Era-like stage where we are. We have economic concerns, unemployment, the dollar getting dumpier every day, gas prices, etc. I am sorry, but I will vote for the person that I deem more experienced and capable to deliver that. I don't give a damm if he grew up in a single mother's home (by the way, how can you blame white people for that) or that people slighted you. The presidency should not be awarded to the person who has endured more or less discrimination, but to the one who can run this country. Leave race out of this.

What Geraldine Ferraro said was not racist. You may not agree with her, but it wasn't racist. She was saying that a white man (or woman) with his credentials would never have made it this far…and let's face it, he doesn't have strong political credentials…that's not to be debated. She admitted that she was a VP candidate because she was a woman. This is her opinion, and she had every right to say it. Obama must address this man's comments, or he will never win the general election if he is the candidate.

I can't see how this will do anything but harm Obama in the long run. Having Rev. Wright as a mentor and playing the race card whenever he loses a state or something negative comes out about him or his campaign will grow tired and stale to voters.
Living in the South, I can say that I'm already seeing friends and family shying away from Obama because of this fact.
As someone who lived through the 50's and 60s and and all of the misery of racism, I can't believe that Obama's campaign is trying to revive and use this sensitive subject to get him elected. I feel like this will set back our country at least 50 years in our race relations and in the process destroy the Democratic Party.
