It had been rumored, then denied, but now…
It's confirmed!
The last Harry Potter book, Deathly Hallows, will hit the big screen as TWO movies.
The films are scheduled to be released in November 2010 and May 2011.
The official stance? There's too much material to cover in one movie! It makes more sense to split it into two.
Alan Horn, president of Warner Bros. (the studio in charge of all Harry Potter pics), said that "it would have been a disservice" to downsize Deathly Hallows into one film.
There's definitely more money for everyone involved by splitting it into two.
There aren't any more Harry Potter books coming out so you gotta milk the cow while you can!

yeah, it sucks in a way that it's two movies… coz then u get cut off at the end. but i understand why they had to make it into two movies. the money thing SEEMS like that's the reason…. but if you read the last book, there's really NO way to cut anything out without affecting the rest of the story. can't pack the whole thing into a 3 hour film.

I also feel that J.K. Rowling should have split the last book into two… although it was 800 pages, it was too rushed.

I am super excited to hear this news!!!! The final book was so wonderful, and had so much great material in it… Two movies was the best and finale decision.
Its about damn time the movies got split in two!! All the movies starting at the 3rd all should have been done in two movies. At least this time they wont have any excuse to cut stuff out. Yaay!

darn these lucky kids and scoring the BEST movie roles of all time yet! each kid had over 40 million to their names! And for just 3 movies each! Well… magic DOES happen. Anyone reading this…if you want a really good book series to read with an AMAZING ending and story line, read "Sword of truth" by terry goodkind. it starts with "Wizzards first rule". kickass book that will make you fall in love with every character

Yes they will make more money, but it indeed would be a disservice to the final book to condense it into one movie… Good decision. This book and series deserves the best.

The movies aren't coming out a year apart. The first one is coming out Nov 2010 and the other one is May 2011. Read it more carefully and do the math.
i hope they show him naked in this one like he was in that horse movie.

A Diss-friggin-service? Doesn't anyone realize that all the movies have been botched anyway? The Prisoner of Azkaban was SO disappointing after reading the books, and so was The Order of The Pheonix. Apparantly the director didn't think it's important enough to follow the storyline. I hope they do a better job with the next ones. Aren't there any fans out there who agree??
Finally! They should have done this sooner. And if you actually read the books you'd understand it's not for financial reasons!

i think it makes perfect sense to make into two instalments FINALLY they are doing something write. And saying they will make more money is kind of stupid since they will end up spending shit loads of money on making the two seperate films.
Thats great to hear — but what about the 6th book — are they not gonna make a movie about that or what!?

Rowling only said she would go to a seventh book but never that she wouldn't go farther. I have not been paying attn to her recent releases but I believe this is still the case. With the money mooched off of this story so far I doubt she is willing to let it lie.
