Please, people - as Oklahoma governor [and Democrat!] Brad Henry recently pointed out, Sally Kern doesn't NOT represent the state of OK. Contrary to some opinion, people can live fantastically gay (and safe) lives outside of the confines of San Fran, Hell-Ay, and NYC. As someone who has lived in OK for some years, it is surprisingly gay friendly despite any backwords and incorrect stereotypes that people might associate with it as a "flyover state." Tulsa has the third-highest gay population per capita in the US and Oklahoma City has a very thriving gay community (including the southwest's largest gay resort hotel). Sure, gays face the same discrimination issues and problems they face everywhere, but they are NOT hunted down with pitchforks and fear every minute for their safety. Certain elitists may have it stuck in their heads that small towns across the country are full of ignorant, tobacco-chewing pro-Bush/pro-Kern morons, a complacent and misguided idiocracy. This is simply not the case and Oklahoma is not such a place.
