2) Which British import threw a minor tantrum after being denied entry to the at-capacity R.E.M. show at Stubbs, dumbfounded that big buzz from across the pond doesn't instantly translate in Texas?

I went to the show and it was freaking amazing. Thank you Perez for sharing your wonderful taste in music with all of us. I feel like this party WAS the talk of SXSW…and everyone I know was trying to figure out how to get in. GREAT party Perez…and great music.
Van Morrison is a tight wad! This is not slander but very true! I waited on him some years back in Belfast and he left me 57p (about a dollar) in change on a £100 bill (Bout $200). I wouldn't mind but I was a good waitress and didn't throw/drop/spill anything on him! He also did the pompous finger clicks to get service - How VERY DARE HE!

Perez, you do know that us Irish consider Patty to be a woman's name and so saying 'St. Patty's Day' is a bit of an insult to our patron saint. If you do have to shorten it (and I don't know why people do) you might want to try 'St. Paddy's Day'. Good man!

I am in absoute awe at the amount of people who do not know who Van Morrison is…so here his a history lesson from a 27 year old chick…
Van MOrrison is an Irish singer songwriter who rose to fame in the 60s with hits like Brown Eyed Girl, Gloria, and Moondance. He continued fame into the 70s with ground breaking and elcectic albums that mixed soul with pop and little blues. He is a true credit to his profession and is one of the most amazing, charismatic musicians to ever come from the other side of the pond.
He is also EXTREMELY reclusive, and I find it hard to believe that this story is true, considering that he is wicked shy…and generally does not make public appearances. FOr those of you unfamiliar with his work, I suggest you check it out…it is a privledge to hear him sing.
Morrison's career, spanning some five decades, has influenced many popular musical artists. In 1993 he was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 2003. I saw sara at the maroon 5 concert here in toronto and she was signing autographs for anyone after she sang. she was really nice to. its to bad that she is being like that

Actually, anything that these stars do away from their performing time still serves their own interests. They're entertainers and therefore they dedicate their lives to the product which is them. Anything that they do away from their craft is self promotion so they have to handle themselves well at all times. Also, if I buy his CD (which I haven't cos I've only just learnt this so called "legend" exists) I am then his customer and you should treat your customers as valued customers at all times cos that's good customer service. Furthermore, they earn millions the least they could do is jump hoops for us! So that's my selfinvolved and selfimportant response! HA!
I do not know about Epic. I live in Austin, and have not heard one thing about your party. I did however hear that you tried to get into a show, and were denied. In fact you had to wait outside texting someone to come and get you in. So sad. Guess you have to d more than Gossip to be considered a celeb here in Texas.
Sara is an amazing artist. Def. not a one hit wonder! Her lyrics are deep and her music is of a soulful jazz more liked by the mature crowd. She has an amazing voice and it is 100 times better heard in person.
Ive been to a few of her open mics before she signed a record contract and she's far from snobby. Lets not judge her by a few unsigned autographs.
Buy her music, listen to the whole CD and then tell me she's a one hit wonder I DARE YOU.
I have seen and met with Sara Bareilles numerous times, both before and after her stardom. Which couldn't have happened to a sweeter, more human, more talented person.

Gossip blogger Perez Hilton claims in a recent entry that the veteran singer-songwriter is no longer welcome at The Driskill Hotel in Austin, Texas because of a supposed room service incident. Morrison was said to have become upset about a botched order and threw a tray at the person who delivered the meal. However, "The Austin American Statesman" is reporting that the story is a fabrication. The Driskill's managing director John Spomer tells the newspaper in an e-mail statement that there were no unpleasant run-ins with the classic rocker, who hasn't been banned from the hotel. He notes, quote, "Throughout his stay, Mr. Morrison, as well as members of his party, treated our staff with the utmost professional courtesy and respect." Morrison was in Austin last week for the annual South By Southwest Music Festival to promote his upcoming release "Keep It Simple." The CD is due in stores on April 1st.

I really don't know what you are talking about. I went and saw Sara Bareilles the day that she performed on the Today show (2-21) in Vermont. That night she had a concert in Madison, Wisconsin as well as having to make a late night drive to Chicago.
After the concert she took more then enough time to talk and take pictures and sign autographs, with every single fan that stayed after. She was so appreciative of ever fan, even when you could tell she was just shot for the long day . So I am pretty sure that if Sara even had a remote option to take time and sign autographs she would.
