I could not agree more, som Americans think England is all la di daa and big houses covered in Ivy and all the girls love prince harry. Its a disgusting councile house filled chav pram pushing industrial dull land of crap. So unclean, unhealthy, rundown and horrible. I lived there for a while for Uni, and I came home early because it was so horrible and their education system over there is DURT! I felt like I was in a class of babies. It was THAT bad… urgh. Ireland is just sweet. Beautiful place, safe place, and just clean. Excellent education, we have a better education than most brits by the time we are out of primary school it seems. Also British TV is the biggest load of shit. And the accents are horrible. I dunno, the more I think about it the more I smile that I'm not English.

WE also say "pissed". In fact most of those above no Irish person uses them. Me and my friends did not have a drunken day yesterday. Everyone I know tends to avoid the city centre and the pubs because they are just full of anoying tourists. And just because you have Irish relatives/ heritage does not mean that you are Irish. WE GET REALLY PISSED OFF!!

I live in Northern Ireland and as an 18 year old I go out and enjoy getting drunk like anyone else and yet I have 4 A Levels, whereas you probably work in Tescos and scam off the dole. You call Irish people 'potato eating scumbags', well son, you should do your homework, because the potato originated in China and was a staple food in England before it was exported to Ireland during the English plantation of the 17th century.
Anyway, to conclude, my family are British but nobody holds the disgusting, sectarian views which you express. I am truly ashamed that my ancestors shared the same landmass as you. This is hilarious, anybody who has lived both in Ireland and abroad will know that drunken lunatics are to be found in societies worldwide. It is not a distinctly Irish thing. This stereotype actually arises in part from the civil unrest and depressions in Ireland, largely and undeniably contributed to by the English (also in my own opinion from the weather)during which drink was used to drown your sorrows….(you may say this is just an excuse but anyone who has seen angelas ashes might disagree) but without such a grey history, the 'Irish' culture, pride and the, now questionable, generousity of the people would never have developed. As societies move forward all you can do is learn from the past and move on to develop as a nation, how come there are always a few ignorant 'irish' people who wish to turn back time and live in 1921?

4)ww1 happened and the bill was prosponed………
5)the political parties tht were against home rule brought in weapons as they were prepared to fight for the continuation of british rule…..
6)parties- especially in the south- also brought in weapons and were prepared to fight for home rule…..
7) civil war happened…..
8)1921- home rule was passed for 26 of the southern counties of ireland while the 6 north-east counties became northern ireland and stayed limked with britain….
9) fast forward -1960s/70s….catholics were being dnied rights so the fought back and an illegal group called the IRA formed(they DID NOT represent all catholics in the north)….
10) opposition groups like the UVF and UDA(protestant groups) formed….
11)then the trouble happened….
12)british troops felt the need to come over and try to create peace….
13)fast forward to the 2000s…..the IRA decomissioned…the Good Friday Agreement was being set up and still is to date as we all move forwardto a peaceful place…..THE END!
