I'm sorry, but that is NOT impetigo. First–it looks nothing like impetigo, and secondly, impetigo responds WELL to anitobiotics. She would have been finished with her round of antiobiotics and this would have cleared. This is something else entirely.

I had a friend who was a heroin addict and her face loked like Amy's. She would pick her skn and cover it with makeup and it never healed. She told people things like it was this or that but it cleared up while she was in rehab so I guess we know what caused it.

She has impetigo/staph for sure. It can be caused by ANY drug (including over the counter drugs) if used in excess because it causes the blood to become too acidic, which in turns causes skin lesions or rashes. I had the same thing from taking too much xtra strength tylenol and motrin on a regular basis for chronic pain. Once you get this infection on your face, the germ enters the nostril (either from inside your system or outside) and remains there………causing further problems any time the bloodstream becomes acidic again. It SUCKS!~ It takes forever to heal especially if you can't keep your hands/fingers off your face. AND it will spread to any other area of the body that has an open wound…..(even a paper cut!) SUCKS when it turns to full fledged staph that has to be surgically drained! PAIN like no other! Get Better Amy! Get off the DRUGS NOW!

In my professional opinion this is not due to drug abuse
Impetigo usually first shows up on the face or arms. It is a bacterial infection and it can take a while for the affected areas to heal , even after the person is on antibiotics. I t is usually contracted through an open wound or by contact with someone else who has the infection. I t is very contagious.
