Less than the price of a movie!
And, even at $9, that's still $8 too many for April!

It's been six years since Avril Lavigne emerged, at the tail end of the teen-pop boom. And I still can't figure her out. Sitting through her Thursday night concert at the Target Center didn't help.
Back in the old days, she played the dour, pouting teen punk. I never did quite understand why she was so angry. After all, she scored a couple of worldwide hits with the then-hot songwriting team the Matrix.
Thursday night, Lavigne displayed a new, equally confounding, persona. Even though she's a 23-year-old married woman — she tied the knot with Sum 41's Deryck Whibley in the summer of '06 — the pint-sized Canadian acted like a grinning 14-year-old hopped up on pink glitter and Red Bull.
She can still land a song on the radio, most recently with her smash "Girlfriend." But it was the first single from an album that's been out for a year and hasn't displayed the staying power of her earlier work. But for whatever reason, she's only just now touring a record that feels like yesterday's news. (That probably explains the relatively sparse crowd of about 7,000, the majority of whom were teen and tween girls.)
To make up for her current lack of career momentum, Lavigne performed on a hot-pink stage complete with the sort of backup dancers and high-tech dazzle that would've made her sneer not too long ago. But all that extra hoo-hah comes with a price. Claiming technical difficulties, she took the stage at 9:15, more than an hour late.
Which, I suppose,
is "rock and roll" — but not necessarily good business when you're playing to a bunch of kids not yet old enough to drive.
Still, the crowd mustered up whatever energy they had left to scream when Lavigne finally did start her performance. And, weirdly, she barreled through most of her biggest hits within the first half hour, including "Complicated," "Girlfriend," "My Happy Ending" and "I'm with You."
From there, though, the show started to slump as Lavigne slowed the tempo down to a crawl. Her ballads like "Innocence" revealed a voice somewhat akin to fellow Canuck Alanis Morissette. But Lavigne lacks control, and far too often starts barking, chirping and/or shouting when she should be, you know, singing.

i just saw her with boys like girls friday night in chicago @ the allstate arena…the tickets were about $50.00 and the arena was PACKED. i had general admission tickets and the crowd was huge. she did amazing as well…i don't understand why the tickets would be so cheap in other places.

i saw her last night in detroit the stadium was almost packed. there were a few empty seats. she was amazing… not shocking.

It's $45 for a regular ticket, which you could see on ticketmaster by doing 1 minute of research.
$9 is for a LAWN ticket, which means no seat at all, worst seats in the entire arena.
