According to a new Gallup poll, Hillary Clinton has passed ahead of Barack Obama by an impressive 7 points — 49 to 42 percent.

This is the widest gap we've seen in polls between the two Dem presidential nominee wannabees in weeks.

The poll was conducted before Barack's acclaimed race relations speech on Monday.

But, according to Gallup's Jeff Jones, "the initial indications are that the speech has not halted Clinton's gaining momentum as she led by a similar margin in Tuesday night's polling as compared to Monday night's polling."

On another note, looks like John McCain is benefitting from the loooooong and tense Democratic nomination process. Grrrrrrr.

A new Gallup poll also showed McCain leading both Democrats. McCain holds a 4 point lead over Obama and 3 point lead over Clinton.

For all you pro-Obamas out there, the only way he can win it with pure delegate votes is to storm the few primaries left and win every single delegate and even then he won't have the 2025. Obama's downward spiral in the polls is the only the beginning. His die hard supporters and certain elected-him-at-all-costs media outlets will say how inspiring and wonderful his speech was, but to the rest of America all it did was stir the pot about the racial divide in our country. Another major problem for him, which will not blow over, is that he lied. He lied because he knew that his candidacy was in deep trouble. When the story first broke, he said that he never heard Reverend Wright say anything incendiary in the 20-plus years he knew him or while he was on the pulpit; then he said the total opposite in his speech. That's a lie. You cannot sugar coat it. He lied. Wasn't he the candidate who was going to bring eveyone together with his message of hope and unity? I have read his speech three times and each time I read it I realize that he is excusing black hatred because of the things that whites have done to them. He is so full of bullshit. He is a politician just like the rest of them. He is not a change from the old Washington. He is exactly like the rest of them, if not worse, at least the other two candidates love our country. So much for his integrity and judgment to lead.

It isn't going ot happen - not when times are "hot" right now (in the bad sense) of race-relations in the democratic party. Also, Edwards politically is more like Obama, not Hillary. And it wouldn't be a Hillary/Edwards ticket. IF (BIG, BIG IF) Hillary gets the nomination, you better believe the Obama will be the VP. Polls don't win the nomination. Obama is nearly has nearly 200 more delegates than Clinton, and leads in the popular vote by nearly 1 million votes. Not reporting the obvious is a major oversight to say the least…

This gets a post, whereas the "acclaimed race relations speech on Monday", which drew kudos and comparisons to speeches nationwide to those made by Kennedy, MLK, FDR, and Lincoln, but didn't even garner a mention from PH.com. Shame!

IF the Dems are going to win in November, BOTH candidates need support on this site. What happens if you alienate the Clinton lovers from the Obama party once he gets the nomination? McCain wins in Nov, and we all lose.

That poll was taken right after the Wright thing, and right before his race speech. It also doesn't take into account that 80% of the primaries are over. Obama still has a healthy lead and this is the ONLY poll that has Hillary ahead. Also, every other poll out has Obama killing McCain. Get your facts straight and stick to posting about celebrities.

So what if Obama mathematically has the delegate and popular vote lead right now. That doesn't mean things cannot change. He is already slipping in the polls. The republicans will keep hammering away with his Reverend Wright connection until the general election. Hillary has definately got the momentum. Pledge delegates can change their minds once they see that his electability is slipping, which it is. America is racist anyway- deep down. It's just been 40 years since black people were "allowed" to vote. That is what the minister was trying to say but no one wants to hear it because people don't want to feel guilty and change. They just want to pat Barrak on the back and say good try your a nice black person but at the end of the day they do not trust black people to do anything. It's a mindset. Come on folks from northeast Philly. Racism no matter its hue is irrational based on fear. I'm a white middle class, middle aged male. What I heard in Obama's speech was its essential humanity. That was not a man of color speaking, that was a man who transcended his race who gave us level headed analysis and judgement. He gave us reason to contain our fear and to build trust. He explained how we should and can condemn Wright's message without condemning the messenger. This is the only ethical way to solve the differences which threaten otherwise to tear us apart. This building of trust is essential if we are able to address and solve the many social, economic, and environmental challenges which face us. Obama's association with this community at risk attests to the value that we can not turn our back on any community. His presence, along with others of standing in that congregation, perhaps exerted a positive restraint if not on the rhetoric then on the despair of poverty which threatens the wider black community of south Chicago.

Blacks who are outraged by our white outrage at this preacher, need to understand that the job this guy is applying for is to lead ALL. You can't be "in bed" with the wildly racist and divisive philosophies of this church. I've been shocked to learn that this kind of racism in black churches is not that unusual. Please understand that your churches are keeping you racist and angry. I can not imagine sitting in a pew with my little impressionable white children and having the preacher say "God Damn America" and that the black race hated them and would never treat them fairly! What hope would my kids have to succeed? How could they trust people? I would run, not walk, from such damaging brainwashing. Of course there are racist idiots on both side of the fence - but the truth is, most of us are NOT racist in this country. It is a myth. I am white and ran to vote for Obama. We believe we have moved beyond "racial" tensions by passing the Civil Rights Bill, allowing black people to live outside of their neighborhoods, and attend our schools. As whites, we just can't comprehend why black people would be angry, feel they have a complaint, or question their status in society.The simple fact is white America is simply ignorant of black America and chooses to live in denial of that simple fact.
