Dr. Death's New Career Path

Filed under: Old People > Politik

drdeath.jpg

Assisted-suicide proponent Jack Kevorkian is running for a Congressional seat in Michigan, according to reports.

His priority if elected will be fighting for the right to die via the Ninth Amendment.

No surprise there!

Kevorkian says the Ninth Amendment protects rights not explicitly specified elsewhere in the Constitution. The way he sees it, the Ninth protects a person’s choice to die through assisted suicide or to avoid wearing a seat belt.

Kevorkian claims to have helped at least 130 people die from 1990 until 1998.

He was released from state prison last year after serving eight years for helping a 52-year-old man with Lou Gehrig’s disease, die in 1998. He was convicted of second-degree murder the following year.

Kervorkian also said the government is tyrannical, “You’ve been trained to obey it, not fight for it because the tyrant doesn’t like that.”

The old guy better have a lot more fight in him! He's 79 years old and just now getting into politics!

Euthinasia is a humane way to save people from so many agonizing deaths. I have had to watch so many loved ones die the long slow death that cancer offers..I say, give people the right to die with dignity!

i am so surprised to read all of those in support of dr. kurvorkian. i was waiting to rip everyone a new asshole..i guess i am NOT one of the few to agree with what he has done and hopefully will continue to do. i have witnessed terminal death first hand due to pancreatic cancer and now knowing how bad it can get, i totally support those you choose to end their pain. hold on…..I live in michigan, and i'm NOT against what he did but one of the reasons he got out of jail early was that he said HE WAS DYING, and he said he didn't want to die in prison,he said he wanted to die in peace and not in jail..he said he was way too sick to "practice" his thing..now i agree with what he was doing, but whatever happened to his impending death??

This guy is an American hero. If you're dying from, say, cancer, you deserve the right to check out, not let religious right-wingnuts dictate that you draw every last horrible breath.

    Re: butterfly soup

Yes, but if we make it legal to assist others to die we are going to be opening a can of worms, do you know what I mean? Where does it all stop after after legalize it? How can it be properly controlled? I see a whole lot of people dying unnecessarily and a lot of concealed murders in the future. Laws are there for a reason.

    113

hey i think they should give prisoners and pedo asss' the same option, die now or die later.maybe without the pain killers

also the guy who did choose to kill himself that this dr got charged for lived a very poor exsisance, he literally lost all his life and the only thing keeping him alive was drugs and feeding tubes. he literally had to do this or be a vegetable. if you got to the point where you couldnt eat or and only felt pain and confusion you would do this too.

dcotors allready have this option, called pallative care, where the body shuts down because all the morphine becomes toxic after a period of time. basically its a long term od.

i dont get how this man is scary, most people dont have the stomach for alot of people jobs, doesnt mean they are freaks.

in aus we have our own dr death, whos neglegance killed many people, id prefer this guy than our dr death any day. we have another dr called the butcher of bega who sexually assulted and chopped up women and killed babies practicing as a unliscensed gyno. now that guys scares me

This guy is one of the few in the world who has the cajones enough to help usher out of this life terminally ill and very much in pain individuals who begged for his services. And he went to prison for it (his videos were his downfall, alas). This guy is a true American hero. We could take a lesson from the Dutch. This whole right to life movement that prevents one from taking his or her own life under the most dire of circumstances is fully and completely archaic, stupid and inhumane.

Just look around at all the old farts in public office. some or should I say MOST have been there too long and are sooooooooooooo out of touch. Good for Dr. death, everyone should have the right to end it peacefully if they choose. It's better then jumping in front of a train or something maybe endangering others or blowing their brains out and maybe surviving. Why do these politicians want to force people who are in horrible pain and inoperable to keep living? To sell more drugs and hospital bills to them!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

He is no monster! He doesn't take what he did lightly! He isn't helping people with depression/lack of friends/emo kids kill themselves! These people that he helps are sick beyond belief. Until we are ALL in their positions, we have no right to defy them their greatest wish…to end their life with some HUMANITY!

Why are you such an ageist — the mind doesn't shrivel and sag unless it's allowed to (by the brainwasher's Kevorkian suggests) or it's a Hollywood starlet at the ripe old age of 30 (ooo , pushing it). Why are Americans so slow catching the boat? Is it because of all the 'brainwashing'? Have you had a parent or two die on you and they wanted to die in a dignified manner - sounds not. . . Do you prefer this current political race of sex versus gender? There's so much to be said about brainwashed Americans who think they run the world and the world is indentured to it (punny)– ha ha joke's on you as far as the rest of educated world sees it — religious oppression, segregation, homophobia, dumbing down — the American way ! 144

No, one will probably read this comment but I'll make it notheless. Anyone who feels like government or medicine has the right to take over our bodies and ours souls, never watched or helped a person die. It is hard, messy and undignified to the person and the life the have lived. There sometimes is so much pain involved and helplessness. It is a terrible place to be and be in. The loss of dignity is insurmountable. People beg, plead, in their lucid moments just whisper and ask. He is trying to at least give people a choice to end what ia ailing them. These are not young kids playing with life, they are terminal and geriatric patients (geriatric patients, who medicine has left by the wayside most of all). All I can say is, when I die, I'd like it to be on my own terms, not a doll or a lifeless but trapped soul who just wants the dignity to rest. That's it.

Dr. Kevorkian is a brilliant and brave man. As a nurse I saw a man who every day for three months laid in bed waiting to die as his body and dignity diminished each day. Each day he spent the rest of his life with lonlieness and bordem. He said to me "Sweety if there is a suicide program I would be on it in a second, I am ready to die". He was unable to do it himself. Then as the days wore on and the pain increased he was placed on morphine. For one week he lived on morphine unable to communicate, eat or drink as we waited for him to die. I washed him, sang to him and prayed beside him. I know he is happy now. God Bless him. I wish he never had suffer as he did.

  54. Perez's editor says – reply to this

    EDIT:

Kevorkian does not "say" what the 9th amendment is, that IS the ninth amendment. What he says is his interpretation of the amendment.

They all have ten kids. The one's that are gay, they disown them, but claim they are God fearing people. They don't love a gay child, but claim to love God. I hate those people. They are in the biggest CULT ever since Jim Jones and are too stupid to know it. Dr. K should is a wonderful person, but the Oregon bunch will hate him.

In my training I worked in rest homes and regularly was asked to help old people who had to sit in their own shit wearing a nappy (diaper) until someone could find some time or a spare pad if they went past their daily alloation of 3 pads to change them (How many times to you go to the lavatory on a normal day?). We owe this man a great debt.

Having seen my mother die from terminal cancer, she might have opted for assisted suicide if she'd had the choice. She was a card carrying member of the Hemlock Society.

There is a complete and utter lack of "death education" in this country. Few people know what to day to a dying person and dying people have no rights to a dignified death of their own choosing.

Whether building a robot to murk ourselves, overdose, on purpose auto-erotic asphyxia, etc. etc. Dr. Death was that middleman. No one in their right mind wants to suffer on this earth. This should be a machine build like an amusement ride that takes the person to it's end. No one should be forced to live when they don't want to.
