The Smashing Pumpkins are suing Virgin Records for selling them out to the corporate whores without their permission.
A lawsuit filed on behalf of the band states, "(they) worked hard for over two decades to accumulate a considerable amount of goodwill in the eyes of the public," and that Virgin's use of the band in a 'Pepsi Stuff' promotion with Amazon.com and Pepsi Co. threatens their reputation for "artistic integrity."
The lawsuit demands that Virgin pay with the profits earned in the promotion and asks for an injunction against using the Pumpkins' name or music in the future.
Does anyone even care about the Smashing Pumpkins anymore???

It seems to me they are looking for a way to make money with this lawsuit. There had to be something in the contract they signed. I never could make it through even one of their songs because he "sings" like a cat getting it's tail squeezed. Every time Billy needs money or attention he does something for publicity (just like his friend Courtney Love). He's lucky his career lasted this long. I feel sorry for all the people he's kicked out of his bands. They must be really broke.
Perez - its a miracle you are able to retain any credibility when talking about music when you make ignorant comments like that about trailblazing musicians like the pumpkins or radiohead, who still have more relevance in todays music industry than any one hit wonder up and comer you tout on here.
i look forward to the day when shallow people turn on you, the way you turn on real musicians, and start asking the question "Does anyone still care about Perez Hilton?"

Dear Perez, I adore you, but you have one tiny problem. Even though some bands (e.g. Smashing Pumpkins and Radiohead) aren't trendy and hot right now, doesn't mean that people don't care about them anymore. They were huge and for that they're never out. Your cute Rihannas disappear when something new comes along, but to really great bands that just doesn't happen.

perez, big fan of the site, but i think you underestimate the smashing pumpkins a lot. just recently they came out with a great album, Zeitgeist, in 2007, you should give it a listen and put the pop on hold, you might actually get a taste of some real music.

I was a HARD CORE fan for years. Smashing Pumpkins lost credibility w/ their fans ages ago, they didn’t need Virgin Records to do that. They lost credibility when Billy Corgan started writing CRAP pop music, and that’s when fans said "Hell with them". I love how Billy Corgan likes to blame everything that goes wrong with this band on everyone else, when in reality it's him that's the problem…he strayed his band mates with his Mr. Know-it-all bi-polar attitude. Then the fame/money tarnished his talent…he now had a normal romantic relationship and money and fame…he had no more demons/hardships to inspire him meaning there was NOTHING left to write good music about…so there you go, all that was left was Billy Corgan and CRAP sugar pop music, which equals to me = LOST CREDIBILITY WITH FANS!
They are one of the few bands that make good music still!

I moved from N.C. to Austria to marry a man that I had never met in person all because the Pumpkins taught us what true love is. I am forever in debt to Billy Corgan and the Pumpkins. They have saved my life more times than I can count. I love them and always will. I love the Pumpkins with every shred of my being. I cannot live without them. They rock my socks and Billy Corgan is an under appreciated genius.
