The Smashing Pumpkins are suing Virgin Records for selling them out to the corporate whores without their permission.
A lawsuit filed on behalf of the band states, "(they) worked hard for over two decades to accumulate a considerable amount of goodwill in the eyes of the public," and that Virgin's use of the band in a 'Pepsi Stuff' promotion with Amazon.com and Pepsi Co. threatens their reputation for "artistic integrity."
The lawsuit demands that Virgin pay with the profits earned in the promotion and asks for an injunction against using the Pumpkins' name or music in the future.
Does anyone even care about the Smashing Pumpkins anymore???

I personally still love their music.

OF COURSE people care about the pumpkins; they rock! They've never released a bad album. Just because the last few albums didn't sell over 10 million like Mellon Collie did — that doesn't mean they're no longer relevant. They still have a huge fanbase. Not many artists can claim over 10 million in album sales off a single album (or a double album in this case), and when they don't do better with every album that follows, people assume they must suck. NOT the case. They're still fucking awesome!
I used to love the Pumpkins, but come on Billy, you put Paris Hilton on the cover of one of your singles. The "artistic integrity" line is more of a mirage.
I LOVE S.P., BUT BILLY HAS GOTTON A PUMPKIN HEAD OVER THE LAST FEW YEARS.

The latest album was definitely not up to SP standards, but people still care obviously by the fact that the majority of the people on this sight are criticizing Perez's questionable tastes in music (I mean do you really think the Jonas Brothers are going to be big in a year? They all want the lifestyle and financial benefits of stardom but god forbid their song be on a pepsi add. Who gives a shit!!?? Smashing Pumpkins are epic and I totally agree with this lawsuit. They busted their @$$es to achieve fame, going from a garage band to mega stardom WITHOUT selling out to big corporate, now Virgin wants to use their music for Pepsi Promotions without even asking them first? I'd be pissed too.
