Mr. Posh, David, has been recalled to the English squad for their friendly match against France in Paris Wednesday. If he plays, it will be his 100th cap (the 100th time he's played) for his country.

No David Beckham has played 99 times for England in his career and has was captain for about 40 of those. You get a cap when you play for your ocuntry. It doesn't matter if your captain or not!!

Perez is actually the one who is correct in defining the meaning of the 100th cap. captaining a team in football/soccer doesn't you get a cap..it's just means that you're a captain. that's all. while a "cap" especially means the international game played by a player. getting one cap means the player has been playing for his country for one time.
Becks' getting 100th cap coz it's his 100th game with England since 1996. he has only been captain of England for 58 times only for 6 years!

by the way..for those of you who are still confuse of what a "cap" means…it is reported, and i've seen it, that Becks will be presented with a Golden Cap - literally in golden colour - to mark his 100th game (and it does looks like the cap you wear on your head!!) with the words of "International Friendly - France v England 2008" being stiched on it on the next friendly of England v USA at Wembley! usually, all of the players been presented with a blue cap for each of their game, and even the previous four of 100th cap players didn't even get the gold one. this is the first time!
