i was actually at the event, and her comment wasn't bitchy at all. she was poised the entire time - didn't lose control - and frankly said it was none of his business….which it really wasn't. the whole room felt uncomfortable when the topic came up and she handled it beautifully.

I can understand her offense to the question, but the question was not about their personal life, it was about how a personal scandal would damage their public image. Her answer could have been a bit more tactical, if I say so myself. Alienating voters for something as silly as Monica Lewinsky hardly seems wise.

Oh, for goodness sake! This was not the right answer. I guess she learned from “the best” as to be selective about the questions she answers. She definitely could have used this inquiry for the benefit of the campaign. She could have answered in a way that presented her mother as a strong woman and that her credibility was just as strong. However, she chose to present herself in a poor manner and made her mother seem incompetent. Sure she probably hates hearing that woman’s name, but she’s going to have to face it and prove to the American people that she and her family are strong. This could have been a subject that turned a negative into a positive. She had plenty of time to think up a great answer while she was dwelling on the matter of how many campuses she’d visited.

As a young daughter of a mother who has accepted my cheating father and worked things out with him, I would have to say Chelsea handled this well. It really is nobody's business. Who knows exactly what the question was–we didn't hear the question, just Chelsea's response. But I don't blame her for responding the way she did. That was a difficult time for the whole family, and Chelsea in particular since she was so young and had to owe up the the fact that her parents were normal and have problems like a lot of other married couples. The question was rude, it took her by surprise, so I don't blame her for the way she responded.

Her father was/is a self-absorbed, horny womanizer who lied under oath. He assured both his family and cabinet that the accusations against him were false. He then sent these people out to the media to defend him. It wasn't just a personal family issue (if he'd told the truth in the Paula Jones inquiry and to his family - it may have been).
Chelsea has to know that this issue is unfortunately part of her legacy. While it's not fair that she should have to deal with this, she should be ready for it.
