How would Hillary Clinton's credibility have been affected by the Lewinsky Scandal? This question made no sense, was baited, and asked soley for the purpose of provoking Chelsea into talking about the Lewinsky ordeal. I say well handled Chelsea.

How is this question a) appropriate or, more importantly, b) relevant? Chelsea, in her role as advocating her mother's primary campaign, has put herself in the position of answering questions related to her mother's policy positions and plans for the country. Chelsea is not, however, in the position to answer for her father's infidelity no more than any other child in the nation whose father has committed adultery should be forced to answer for their parents indiscretions. Her response was sharp and quick, the appropriate response to such a baited question.

Good for Chelsea, she may not have directly responded to the question asked, but she responded to a rude question in turn. Personally I don't see how Hillary Clinton's credibility comes into question because her husband cheated with Lewinsky. She had a child, she remained in her marriage and stayed strong. So I am sure that it has effected her life much harder then it has her mother or her father. We always tell the parents to leve the children out of their problems so how could you ask this question to her? THAT is what I have issues with, NOT how Mrs. Clinton was perceived after the Lewinsky scandal, which was totally out of her control, and something she should NOT be held responsible for.

I think you are missing the point here with the affair and her credibility. The question is a valid one, but affairs have nothing to do with a woman "satisfying" her husband, nor is it a wife's job to police her husband. I thought the question was fair and the reaction was somewhat terse and uncalled for, but her "credibility" in terms of being a wife, as some of you are trying to argue, has nothing to do with her credibility as a leader. After all, Bush is probably a doting father and faithful husband (even though he used to be an alcoholic and a military derelict), but he has proven himself to be an overwhelmingly unqualified president. Perhaps Hillary's greatest strength will be her standpoint of coming from a much more "real" family with problems and flaws that people can see. If we continue to paint her, and all women, as having to kowtow to traditional "feminine" duties, then none of us will ever be able to be taken seriously in positions of power.
