The ratings are in and…..
The season premiers of The Hills was the highest rated telecast for cable all year long so far!
It was also the highest rated episode ever of The Hills.
It even beat out broadcast television channels with the highest ratings for the night!
The premiere averaged over 4.7 million viewers.
WTF?!?!
Are all these people seriously watching the show?
Or did everyone just leave the house with MTV playing on their TV.
After the premiere, the performance by Mariah Carey resulted in an over 180% increase from the regular ratings in that normal time slot.
Even MTV online received record highs, with an increase of 29% of people going online to stream the episode. MTV.com delivered a staggering 2.2 million streams.
Do people actually watch the show because they think it's real or why?

But i only watched it for like 30 mins and then got sick of it.

I am from the OC so I got hooked on Laguna Beach so it was natural to follow LC to LA. It was fun watching her grown up & work through the old relationships she had in Laguna. I admit I also like seeing what she was wearing. She just had really good appeal. However, I don't like her anymore. I think she is just trying too hard to be some sort of fashion icon. Now a lot of her styles looks lame & forced. I also hat that braid she is porting. I think she puts herself first & makes poor decisions regarding work & boys. Mondays episode made her look like a stupid spoiled little girl. Let me get my gown first, let me wear it to a smoky club, let me ruin it & not even apologize to the designer or offer to pay for it but simply have my friend ask for another one. I am over LC.

I watched it because its entertaining. Although I know it is not real, I watch it for entertainment purposes only. Same reason I would watch any sitcom.

i watched because everyone else watched. but i couldnt agree more, it is sooo scripted and fake, esp. the dress part where it got "burnt" by the curling iron…. so fake, it was like wannabe cinderella themed… but i watched just to see what the fuss was all about… i think thats why most ppl watched actually and oh yeah to see moo moo perform too! Moo moo is such a hater she only sacrificed her self and put her pride aside and was there because she wants her single to go to number one! and she needs all the viewers to go download her shit, trust me other wise she would have no asscociation w/ the hills whatsover!

i watch… i watch because its so absolutely rediculous that my human nature almost wants me to believe that it is real. when really, how on earth do they manage such amazing camera angles when the show is so "reality" based. i think the real issue with this show is the fact that someone has useless as heidi actually got herself a record deal and music video as shitty and homemade as it was. her music video was more reality tv than the actual show is. maybe from now on they should just get spence to film the show, at least than we can believe its actually reality.
