The season premiers of The Hills was the highest rated telecast for cable all year long so far!
It was also the highest rated episode ever of The Hills.
It even beat out broadcast television channels with the highest ratings for the night!
The premiere averaged over 4.7 million viewers.
WTF?!?!
Are all these people seriously watching the show?
Or did everyone just leave the house with MTV playing on their TV.
After the premiere, the performance by Mariah Carey resulted in an over 180% increase from the regular ratings in that normal time slot.
Even MTV online received record highs, with an increase of 29% of people going online to stream the episode. MTV.com delivered a staggering 2.2 million streams.
Do people actually watch the show because they think it's real or why?

I definitely don't think it's real but I also can't help but watch it. I LOVE all the drama! It's like a soap opera but with even bitchier characters. Plus watching Heidi's face and body get more and more ridiculous is entertainment in itself!
I only watched it because it was in Paris and I love Paris… other than that it is pretty much one of the worst television shows on television. I'd rather read Perez anyday than watch The Hills!

Why did I watch??? Well I watched 2 and half men, big bang theory, how I met your mother…had dinner…then intervention was a re-run on A&E so I tuned into the Hills….yeah I know normally I would be watching drug addicts go to rehab…so instead I watched the precurser to my own rehab…The Hills!
lauren is soooooo boring. it's the people in her life that makes the show actually worth watching. even though it is soooo fake, they all have fucked up lives which is hilarious. mtv does such a good job with the teaser trailers for next week that everyone tunes in and just leads to a disappointment. i live in los angeles and they have casting calls for extras if they have to film early…so lame!

Even if it is a "scripted" reality show, it's an enjoyable trashy watch. It's edited in such a way that you want to know what these kids are doing and what's going to happen, especially with matters of the heart. Although I found it a very disappointing and boring episode considering the hype and was far too long.
