Man jailed for microwaving baby
A jury in Texas has sentenced a man to 25 years in prison for severely burning his two-month-old daughter in a microwave oven last year.
The jury rejected Joshua Mauldin's defence that he was insane when he placed his daughter Ana in the oven.
Prosecutors said Mauldin had a history of violence, lying about being mentally ill and was angry about his marriage.
Ana, now aged one, suffered second and third-degree burns to her face and left side and required two skin grafts.
Part of her left ear had to be amputated.
Her foster mother, Heather Croxton, told the court of the painful daily treatments Ana has had to undergo since being left in the microwave for up to 20 seconds.
"There is no excuse for your actions and I hate that one day you will be set free and allowed to move on with your life while Ana continues to pay for your actions," she said.
Mauldin's lawyer, Sam Cammack, said his client would not get the treatment he needs for mental illness in prison.

That is so horrible…. I have three kids myself and I could never imagine something like that ever happening to them. You have to really be a monster to do something like that. I hope that everyday that his is in prison he is tormented by others in there, making it so hard for him to go another day. 25 years isn't long enough. Just being able to set there isn't enough punishment for what he did. I hope Karma gets him in prison. People like that don't deserve to live.

Im from Conroe,Tx which is about an hour north of Galveston, where this took place. It saddens me to see such horrible things happen so close to home. But the even sadder part is that within the past year an a half there has been a total of 3 baby incidents. The other 2 babies were found dead on galvestone shore. one was still fastend in his carseat. What has this world come to???

my dad got really upset when he heard about this and said that when he was a cop him and his friends arrested a lady who microwaved her baby. he said it was the most horrible and saddest thing he ever saw.

This is not the first time this has happened. I also read a story not to long ago about a woman doing this to her baby as well then she went to sleep on the couch pretending she had no idea how the baby got in the microwave when her boyfriend got home.
I think these people are very sick! I don't understand how someone can do something so heartless. If a person was mentaly ill and did it they need some serious help (I am not saying that it is ok if they are mentaly ill I just think they need serious help and not jail time)

This questions me about our judicial system. We were talking about Texas death penalty today in my intro to criminal justice class. It's very common in Texas that they give the death penalty to those who murder people, and they don't give a fuck. That's why they say don't mess with Texas. Yet, with a man who should be legally insane and created an attempt murder on an infant should for sure face life sentence or the death penalty. That is just cruel!
