Just Leave The Little Emo Kids Alone!

It seems there's a huge problem arising in Mexico, and it has nothing to do with politics or money.
Apparently, there is a wave of violence occuring against emo kids. Why the haterade???
Emo music fans are being attacked in the street by mobs. The attackers are supposedly punk, metal, and rock fans who dislike the emo kiddies for their look and attitude, it's being reported.
What's wrong with a little guyliner and mascara????
The attacks are being traced back to a rant on air by Kristoff, a TV personality on Televisa TV. Kristoff recently said emo was just "fucking bullshit", but later - after the attacks, he called for an end to the violence.
Unfortunately for Kristoff, he might take the blame for all the incidents if the Mexican government blames Televisa for all the attacks.
Earlier this month, over 800 people in Querataro, Mexico began to gang up against the emos, which resulted in several violent attacks. Just a week later in Mexico City, a similar incident took place. The emos in both Querataro and Mexico City decided to respond to the violence by marching peacefully through the center of the cities.
How emo!

And, it seems Mexico isn't the only country facing this issue. Apparently, Chile is also seeing violence against emos.
Attacks have been shown on news reports throughout the country of emos, known in Chile as "PokEMOns" being attacked.

Wow, this story made me laugh! Where I come from, emos are also hated against but not necessarily attacked. I find the whole thing to be ridiculous, emos are annoying but this just gives them more reasons to cut themselves and wear runny black eyeliner. DOWN WITH EMOS!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi there Emo Girl, well i'm a mexican and i think some people misunderstood the situation.
I don't mind emo people, or gothic, punk, you name it. It's okay, you can listen, dress, live as you want.
But the think I do mind are the posers and, in my opinion, Mexico (as any other country) has posers.
And I've seen that all the beating and stuff is against posers, well I can tell that much from what I've seen on TV.
I live in La Paz, Baja California Sur (yeah, near Cabo) and we haven't had problems yet (and i hope we never will).
Anyway, all the self-proclaimed "emo" that are interviewed on tv, well… they are far from what emo REALLY means.
And although i don't support violence of any kind, I can't deny it makes me a little happy that finally posers are getting what they deserve.
So, that's it, all this "emo hate" is for "emo posers" because, real emo are not whiny, and real emo are not happy and laughing giving an interview when they are about to be hit, and a real emo aprecciate music, poetry, drawing, painting, any kind of art, and this posers don't give a shit about art, they just dress in thight pants and say "hey, i'm emo!" and for me that's disrespectful for real, genuine people…. so they kinda deserve it….

im a 7th grade teacher born in Monterrey, Mx, some of my kids are into emo, and are the sweetest human beings on earth. I've never heard of any violence in Monterrey, but the other kids in school (the popular ones) would be somewhat cruel to them sometimes.

Well, I have family in Queretaro and I go to Queretaro every summer , the problem is that the EMOS kids only want to hang out at ONE place which is Plaza de Armas which is a sight for tourists to see and EMO kids are kinda giving Queretaro a bad impression for tourists to see. And preppy kids wanna hang out at Plaza de Armas also but EMOS kinda claim they're territory and give the Preppy kids dirty looks and The preppy kids got sick of it and took matters into they're own hands.

it's not just in Mexico and Chile. It's in the States too. Fox did a news report about "emos and scene kids" and it's everywhere. A punk rock band held an event called "emocide". Like honestly, clearly these "emos" have the bigger and better people for not going out and beating a punk rocker or a gangsta. In response to Cristobal's post… you're right when you say that EMOS and POKEMONES are completely different. Emos like rock and pokemones like reageton, which is a piece of shit they dare to call music. Here in Chile, is famous a "campaign" called "piteate un pokemon" or "piteate un emo" which means "kill a pokemon or emo". Unfortunately, we have had some attacks, but no one has died yet. I don't like this kind of behaviour. I don't like the way those people (pokemons and emos) are, but certainly it is not enough to justify those attacks.
