It seems that the violence against 'outsiders' is spreading.
Yesterday we mentioned how emo kids in Mexico City were being attacked, as well as in Chile. Now, reports are surfacing of a recent attack just across the border in Juarez, Mexico.
Why's it so hard to love one another???? Or at least be indifferent!
A confrontation in an upscale mall took place Wednesday night between a group of "emo" kids and a group of "punk" kids.
Police are saying the incident could have started with an exchange of words. Even worse, they fear it could have been a copycat attack of the highly publicized attacks on emos in Querataro, Mexico.
Officials released a statement saying that the police anti-gang unit would increase patrols at popular teen hangouts in order to discourage any fights.
Why do people still find the need to attack others? Can't everyone just get along?

El Paso Texas (where I happen to live by the way) is a border town. We are a stones throw from Mexico & its no surprise that the attacks on emos repeated here in El Paso. The population is 50% liberal 50% conservative. Boys are given referrals asst principal for earring(s) or dyed hair. They tel you it violates the district's dress code but when you ask for the dress code they never seem to have it. When you report name calling and taunting you are told a school employee has to witness it. Im an adult in this town & it is common to walk through our malls & see groups of kids picking on emos, goths, geeks, skaters, or stoners. They are subjected to jeers, taunts, outright laughter, & staredowns. If your child stands up for themselves they may be beatdown. As for the upscale mall, we have 3 "malls"; 2 should barely classify as malls & the third is actually a center where the big draw is Target. I read the paper every day and there has been no mention of any assaults on emos in the paper at all.

Let me just say I live next to the boarder in New mexico and when the mexican emo kids come over I seriously want to it them. Because they can be a holes and many of them act like they have it all. I am not feeling sorry for them. A lot of these kids are kids who have money and that is part of the reason they are not well liked in mexico.

I actually live in Querétaro, I'm mexican and it is getting really stressing the whole emo situation over here. 2 weeks ago, punks, skaters and such went downtown to beat emos and the e-mail to do so was widely spread, I even recieved a copy of it; then, emo kids and a lot of ppl got along to protest silently walking in several main spots in downtown and I got another email that this affair was going to be boicotted by the same dudes but this time with guns and stuff; there is the overall belief that it is a way of channeling homophobia into emo-kids, but the truth is that skaters and punks are frightened because they are not receiving the same attention they used to receive and feel threathened by the quick growth in the emo population … so it was just a way of saying … WE GOT HERE FIRST … that's the whole thing … and according to another e-mail, the 21th March was the date for a second beating in downtown where emos usually hang out … but fortunately nothing hapenned … it seems the situation has peaced off a little …
OMG! I just came from Cd.Juarez, Mexico, visiting my family. I do have to say that its a horrible place to live, there's too much drugs and violence there, not only mexicans from there but other people from different nationalaties that cross over to live in Juarez. I wasn't aware of the "emo" kids being attack there, which I did see a lot. We also visit down in El Paso and Mexico City. Everything was calm there. It saddens me though.
