Ok so you're american and obviously no idea about the eurovision but it has become a complete an utter joke. It has gotton to the stage that no matter how good your entry is, you will not win unless you are one of the eastern european, ex-soviet countries because they all vote for each other. Spain, Ireland, the UK and all the other "sophisticated" countries are now threating it as the joke it has become.
BTW Im from Ireland and the song is actually hilarious and jokes about how shiteous the eurovision is.

Right, I'm Irish and yes, I am embarrassed by this. However, I'm also glad that we have stopped scouting for "talent" to send to the biggest sham of a competition ever. It just makes us look like complete fools who think we have a chance with people who can't sing a note and have no stage presence. At least whoever is behind our entry this year realised that it's best to actually mean to be foolish rather than have the rest of Europe, and now apparently America, laughing at us!!!

Re: lah – Ireland has sent great songs too, and look where it's got us recently! We came last in 2007 with only 5 points, and that was with a traditional Irish act! With all of the block voting in Eastern Europe, this satire of the contest is probably the only chance we have of extending our record as the country with the most wins (we've won it 7 times already!)

This is Dustin (from an Irish kid's show, for those who don't know) and yes this is a joke, the Eurovision is a joke, it has been for a long time and we're allowed to have a bad entrance every once in a while, we won it more times then any one else (7) and we're the most fun nationality in Europe! I'm Irish, and the country is rather torn on what to think. It's clear Eurovision is not about the songwriting, however, with such a good record of winning (7 times) , some people believe we shouldn't have to stoop to the wacky level.
My only opinion is that if we don't get 12 points off Turkey, there is something wrong with the world.
We actually are fully aware of this being a joke, the fact of the matter is Ireland used to win the Eurovision the majority of the time and it got too expensive for us to host, hence we put shitty acts up so we wouldnt have to win! Also theres no point in actually trying seen as the Eastern European countries all vote for their neighbours and us in The West have no chance anyway!

Sorry Ireland but if you wanted to make a crappy song that wouldn't win you have failed miserably. THIS IS EXACTLY THE KIND OF STUFF THAT EUROVISION LOVES. It's catchy as hell and the puppet is original. The oldies will love it! They will be getting out of their seats and getting heart attacks all over the place jumping around to this one! In the future if you want to make a crapy song make a slow boring one which has no beat whatsoever and one that just drags on with no rhythm. FUCK- this one is some catchy shit!

I fucking hate the Eurovision Song Contest. It's absolute shit, it's never about the songs, it's all about politics and which countries are virtually fucking each other.
It used to be good but now… pfft! There's too many fucking countries in it now anyway. Countries you've never even heard of. It's on for hours and you have to painstakingly watch every single entry, then sit through the voting process where all the other countries say "and 12 points go to our good friends… Estonia!" or "and the 12 points go to our good friends and neighbours in… Greece!" and then vice versa with the other country. The songs and acts are awful, camp and vomit-inducing. These days all the countries try to mention as many other countries in the song as possible in the hope of gaining a vote from whoever they've mentioned. It's ridiculous, stupid and should have been stopped years ago.

If you listen to the lyrics, it's a commentary on how all the Eastern European countries just end up voting for their neighbours - so it's not about having talent on Eurovision anymore. It's about attracting Eastern European states to vote.
