When the latest Billboard Hot 100 singles chart is released on Wednesday, both pop divas will have reached new milestones.
M & M are set to break two records set by Elvis Presley, making music history together on the same week!
Thanks to its release as a digital single, Mimi's Touch My Body is expected to be the #1 single in America this coming week. It will be her 18th #1, and she will surpass Elvis as the artist with the most #1 hits.
Meanwhile, Madge's 4 Minutes will jump into the Top 10 this week and she will beat Elvis as the artist with the most Top 10 hits in music history. It will be her 37th !!!
That is INSANE!!!!

Mariah is only reaching this milestone b/c in the late 90s she was the queen of the 99c single. Her singles were ALWAYS sold cheaply so she could hit number 1 all the time. Granted Madonna may have less #1s but having the most Top 10s at 37 is amazing. It means that 85-90% of her singles have been hits whereas Mariah's hits are either #1 or they don't do well. Madonna shows consistency, Mariah shows shrewd marketing.

Why is Mariah even being considered the legitimate owner of 17 number 1s, soon to be 18, when laws were broken to achieve the so-called hits? It is well known in the music industry that Mariah's record company paid off DJ's,(Payola) in New York & elsewear to play the singles . This is known, but not talked about in the industry. So a person is going to be rewarded and granted a record when laws were broken to get there. It's definitely more work to remain a top 10 artist for over 25 years as Madonna has done. I believe Mariah deserved every single #1 from her first album and a few others along the way, but she was part of yet another scandalous payola moment in pop rock history (one of many in 50 plus years) that was WELL disguised. Fans can celebrate as much as they want but unfortunately Mariah will never be taken seriously by the well informed music industry knowing she and her camp compromised artistic integrity to achieve "single" sales. Mariah sang like no one else had ever done in pop music and it was a stunning pop moment. Madonna on the other hand is an Icon of near mystical proportions and the history books will not forget her hundreds of years from now. Not everyone can or will be remembered so we should certainly enjoy Mariah for being in this time of our lives.

Michael Jackson may only have 28 top 10 singles as a solo artist but that number would far exceed Madonna and anyone else if all the hits he made with the Jackson 5 and The Jacksons were included. Michael was making #1 hits decades before Madonna and Mariah even put voice to record. At the age of 12 MJ had 4 consecutive #1 hits with the J5. He cannot be challenged hits wise.
