In Memoriam

The beautiful and talented Selena's life was cut tragically short thirteen years ago today at the too tender age of 23.

She had so much life ahead of her!

Thankfully, her music lives on. And THIS is one of our favorite Selena songs.

R.I.P.

    133

Ms. Selena was THE original big-butt beauty AND had talent to top it off. You know if it hadn't been for the movie and Jennifer Lopez having the chance to play Selena—would J. Lo be as big as she is now? NOT.

Re: Nobody – Yeah, no one knew her. She was only known as the Mexican Madonna and won grammy's. You are a tard. I remember when this happened because I was enroute to Padre Island and drove through Brownsville when I heard what had happened. Very devastating for the hispanic community. Sad.

    137

BEING FROM THE SAME HOMETOWN AS HER (CORPUS CHRISTI, TX) IT STILL HURTS. SHE WAS VERY TALENTED, AND SHE WILL BE FOREVER MISSED.

I ALSO THINK IT'S REALLY SAD TO SEE SOME OF THE COMMENTS BEING MADE ABOUT HER AND ABOUT HISPANICS/LATINOS IN GENERAL. I AM NOT A LATINA WOMAN, BUT I RESPECTED HER AND LOVED HER MUSIC.

FOR THOSE OF YOU WHO CHOSE TO BE HATEFUL, REMEMBER THE HORRIBLE THINGS YOU HAVE SAID ON YOUR JUDGEMENT DAY.

I drove minutes from the boutique and found Selena's burial plot. I was in awe and stood there at her gravesite speechless and amazed that i was actually there..U will always be missed Selena!! xoxoxo

Thank you Perez for remembering a great talent. I was there at the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo when she performed. The place was packed, all because of Selena. I know she would have been something great.

    151

Her parents helped kill her by not letting her have a blood transfusion at the hospital. We would all still have Selena if it wasn't for them. She died from blood loss! I will forever blame them for it. They were just like Joe Simpson the Lohan parents exploiding their kids for money. I still can't get over the fact that he would charge people to go see her in a closed casket in TX. He did really bad things.

I didn't realize this was the day she died. I loved 2 of her songs. I remember this day more because of the Movie "The Crow". R.I.P Brandon Leee Feb 1, 1965 - March 31, 1993. It was 15 years ago today he died while filming his death scene in the movie only 8 days before filming was to end. An empty shell was stuck in the gun from previous use and a blank made it dislodge into his abdomin.

    Re: Elizabeth

For your information they DID give her blood transfusions, the bullet severed a major artery and basically the blood being pumped into her was going right on thru…her parents are not to blame! Her father even set the record straight in a newspaper saying even if he was there at the time they were being administered, he would of done ANYTHING to save her life.
And to the rest of the ignorant people on here, she was born in TEXAS, she was just as American as anyone else.
    Go spread your hatred elsewhere!

    188

    CONTINUATION:

    Regarding J- LO:
Jennifer Lopez had not even THOUGHT of designing, singing, etc., until she made the movie Selena. JLO, could NEVER, EVER, come close to achieving the REAL singing talent that Selena had. (JLO doesn't "sing", she "breathes" into a freaking microphone - to music in the background), that sadly, some people interpret as "singing".

P.S. Indeed JLO's "breakout" was when she played the character "Selena", but sadly, JLO NEVER got out of that charachter!!! After that movie, whenever I saw JLO on an interview on T.V., she still TALKED & LAUGHED (or tried to), like SELENA (could I possibly be the only one that noticed this??)
Right down to the "Selena goodbye wave", to this day, JLO still copies.

Selena brought happiness to many, many individuals with the sound of her voice. If you didn't, or don't like (her music), that is your prerogative, but don't bash her fans, or her, for that matter. One day, someone that you love or admire, or even a close family member will surely leave this earth. Hopefully, YOU won't be reading nasty and degrading comments about your lost loved one.

    Definitely, a Selena Fan.
