They are not controlled by Disney. They were a band before Disney got ahold of them and had a CD and were touring. JB was smart enough to sign with Hollywood and let Disney promote them, and wah-lah! Success! Sounds like a good business move to me. Their CD is platinum (which are all songs they wrote), they have fiercly loyal fans worldwide, and are laughing all the way to the bank. It looks pretty contrived to me. Joe's smiling. If he was really being disturbed by the papparazzi while with his girlfriend, I doubt he'd look so calm and happy. Plus, since when have we ever seen papparazzi pics like this of the JoBros? They keep a pretty low profile. This is in every likelihood a publicity stunt, down to the fact that he's not even trying to go unnoticed. (That outift SCREAMS Joe Jonas!) I'd love Joe either way, but I really don't think this adds up at all. I just find it weird that he'd agree to be seen in public with a girl (his co-star no less!) when he knows how many rumours it will start. So yeah, I DOUBT there's a legitimate love connection. :]
