The Preggers Man on Oprah

The much buzzed about 'pregnant man', Thomas Beatie will be a guest on Oprah's show Thursday.
Beatie's a transgender man that is expecting a child. Though he underwent surgery to switch genders, he kept his female reproductive organs and is nearly six months pregnant.
He tells Oprah that his current wife Nancy is unable to conceive and that's the only reason he's going through with the pregnancy. Beatie was able to conceive via artificial insemination.
Thomas tells Oprah in a show clip, "I'm a person and I have the right to have my own biological child."
He expects to deliver a girl around July 3rd.

i cant believe how dumb some people are on here. he was born with both sex organs. decided to be male (probably because he felt more masculine) and kept the reproductive organs of a woman. he is a man, but can complete a pregnancy. for people who think where will it come out? the c-section was not invented yesterday, so you look like an ass. i think it is wonderful that this couple can still have a child even though his wife cant get pregnant.

this is a very intersting situation…for a transgendered man to put themselves through a pregnancy. this would make for a great debate about gender issues and the lgbt community. I just wonder what this mans body is going through hormonally: first he had a womans body, next hormone therapy and surgery and now?? back to the estrogen?

I hope he's stopped testosterone therapy for the duration of the pregnancy. I have an intersex friend (biological female) who's currently trying to get pregnant and zhe's made sure zhe stopped everything like that.

I remember walking by a place known to be a gay hangout here with my husband and our daughter in a stroller and hearing whispers of folks sitting at the tables outside saying "Breeders! Breeders!" What the heck?! Each and every one of them came from "breeders"! So gay folks can insult us, but if we were to turn around and say something derogatory to them we would probably be slapped with a lawsuit and be accused of discriminating.

I am a heterosexual female dentist from Ohio (sounds so straight I know) but I do feel that some people are not born feeling right or in the right body. I honestly don't get it entirely, but I have seen documentories and these people are real. They seem to face obsticles (sp?) that would not be worth doing unless they were unbelievably tormented inside. On that note, although it's kinda fucked up, I totally support their having a child. It's a beautiful thing for people who really want a child. I am sure they will be better than the 25% or higher percentage of people who get preggers and don't give a shit.
