Jenny McCarthy Is Fucking Amazing!

While helping to raise awareness for autism, which her son has, and discussing the possible causes (including too many vaccinations for toddlers), this happened between Jenny McCarthy and one of the other panelists on Larry King Live last night.

She has been my hero ever since her days on Singled Out. She is one of the coolest chicks in Hollywood, and I hope she doesn't go away. I don't know many people with the cajones to go on national televisiona and do what she did. Not only does the autism community need her but so do the rest of us. Rock on Jenny McCarthy!!!!!!!!!! We love you!!!!!!!!

    The facts are these:
    * There have been several random, double-blind placebo tests proving that vaccines do not cause autism.
    * If you believe the viral load causes autism, by all means, space out your shots. But neglecting to vaccinate your child is tantamount to child abuse.
    * Jenny McCarthy is concerned about mercury. Yet I bet she drives a big gas, guzzling car and lives in a huge house. FACT - the biggest source of mercury in our environment comes from coal-fired electrical plants. So unless she's driving a hybrid car and living in a modest little home, she needs to think about her own role in this mess.
    * There have been several reliable studies indicating that autism is genetic.
    * When serving on a panel discussion, it is good form to let everyone have a turn to speak.

So, here's a quiz: Jenny McCarthy is A) ignorant B) a shrieking harpy C) sporting a bad hair cut D) has found a platform that will keep her books on the shelves and her face on TV.

My son has autism. I've seen hundreds of children who have autism. They are helped by behavioral and/or developmental therapy. The diet doesn't do it. Her kid had celiac disease. And, newsflash, he didn't die. Unless she stuffed him and continues to drag him out every now and then for movie premieres - which is a distinct possiblity.

I understand why Jenny is so passionate about this, we all want answers for the unexplainable. Jenny, sometimes THINGS just happen. Autism is exponentially growing due to advances in research and the ability to diagnose it properly. We also have to consider that many defects happen in utero and the symptoms do not exacerbate until well after birth….think of the BRCA gene and breast cancer susceptibility. At this point there is no real link of the polio vaccine to the development of Autism. The onset of autism could be coincidental with the timing of the vaccine administration.

AMEN!!! 1 in 150 Autistic children is an epidemic in this country and the research is still moving at a snail's pace. It can't only be vaccines, but what we need is the ability to determine who is at risk BEFORE vaccines and other exposures happen. The reason we do so many vaccinations, so early is two-fold. The concern for children being lost to follow-up, in other words a new parent might not be consistent in returning for a vaccination schedule that stretches over a period of months, so it is easier to administer these multi-dose vaccinations to ensure that the child is covered, I see the logic in that but it fails to address the problem of sensitivity in individual children. I think also, that many parents have a difficult choice when they use insurance. Many times the preservative free version of a vaccination is NOT COVERED, but the one with preservatives, being more widely available is. If you are a new, or prospective parent be careful, look for signs in your child and act quickly. Early intervention is the key to an improved quality of life for you and your child! There is no true cure- once you are Autistic you are, but there are many (some of them less reputable than others) treatment options and what works for some kids may not work for others. Each parent is an advocate, a researcher, a therapist and a lobbyist for their kid. It is an amazing journey that we are all undertaking with our Autistic children.

    710

I admire her passion to raise awareness to a condition that is on the rise; however, she is sorely misinformed about the link between vaccines and autism. There is not one scientific study that proves a significant association between the 2. Even without vaccines, autism is increasing at an alarming rate in our country. I realize the pain and frustration parents go through with this disease but do you really think scientists and vaccine makers are sitting back with their feet up not releasing information to the public? No, they are out there performing studies and as a result are finding no scientific links to this condition. It boggles my mind that people will listen to a celebrity without doing educated and thorough research on a topic before reaching a sound conclusion. Though the number of vaccines given to infants seems to be a bit much these days, each vaccine or combination vaccine is staggered from birth to 2 years of age. If vaccine administration decreases we run the risk of increased infectious disease outbreaks, all from diseases that could have easily been prevented.

Do you people seriously expect the same CDC, AMA, and peds who have pumped these vaccines in our children to suddenly say, "oops, sorry we were wrong all this time, we have been poisoning your children by the masses for years.". Think about it.

Jenny McCarthy is full of shit. She is a drama queen, (not an actress), and views this whole situation as a opportunity to sell her crackpot book. The "died in my arms, "cardiac arrest" is bullshit too. I am a pediatric nurse and have seen the entire spectrum of neurotic parent behavior when it comes to their children. I have seen parents bring there children to the office 10 times in one week for a cold even when they have been repeatedly told the same information. New parents are the worst. They have no idea how to assess or deal with common occurances, therefore everything becomes an emergency. Of course, they would never think of reading a standard book on newborn care…It is not rocket science. Most babies cry when they receive injections. Some hold their breath and turn blue. It is not "cardiac arrest". I have worked in an ER and witnessed cardiac arrest. She is a neurotic crackpot who has jumped on a bandwagon based on FEAR and she is running with it. Don't run with her.

My little brother, who I love more then anything in the world, has autism. We had to find everything out for ourselfs, just as Jenny did. There is a big link between the vaccinations and autism. If you like it or not. They arent saying that a child shouldn't be vaccinated, but just that they should fix the shit! If you have a beautiful baby that one day started acting different wouldnt you want to find out what it was?

P.S. Be thankful that there are "stars" out there that are giving a damn about this stuff and bring awearness to poeple. Be thankful that nothing has happend to any of the kids in your family cuz if something had I would hope that you would think different.

After all… if you hear a lie often enough you start believing it as truth. That's the role of the media. And that has been the manipulation game played on the American people by big pharma, the CDC, FDA and big govmt. 90% of the people here are sheep and not able to think for themselves - just the way THEY like it!!

My little brother has autism and sounds just like your son. He isnt on a diet or anything and just runs around everywhere and is very healthy. Re: poop
This is the most ignorant and asinine statement I think I've read…and that's saying quite a bit since there's been over 700 posts on this topic. Autism is not a spoiled child's disease. It's neuro-developmental. In a "normal" child you can just tell them no w/discipline and they'll eventually get it after about the 5th time. In a child w/autism, it takes 500 times if not more. Please educate yourself.
As for her son dying, she has indicated many times he went into cardiac arrest and was dead for two minutes before anyone was able to bring him back. Yes, she's emotional…It her damn son!!!

You don't need to be a doc to see a reaction to immunizations. I haven't heard of any deaths associated with Hep B in infants yet we immunize them in their first days or months of life. WHY? By the way, there are many docs out there who believe the immunizations are contributing to Autism. They are called DAN doctors. Jenny can get the word out and we can't. Keep up the good work Jenny.

  36. Jenny McCarthy needs to settle down! says – reply to this

    736

I'm really tired of this argument. As others have stated it is an emotional one. Parents of autistic kids want to blame it on something. However, it's hard to pin down a cause. I think the benefits of vaccinating are worth the risks. I think she is putting a lot of misinformation out there and her getting all riled up in this clip just makes her look like an ass. Bottom line, do the research yourself, talk to your child's doctor and decide on a vaccination schedule that you can live with. My best friend is a special ed teacher who works with autistic kids, believes in this autism/vaccine link and still had her kids vaccinated, just more spread out. Don't just listen to Jenny and jump on her emotional bandwagon. She is not a expert! Research this yourself!

  37. She's not an expert, people! says – reply to this

    737

Having an autistic kid does not make you an expert on autism. It is a spectrum disorder meaning its symptoms can be anywhere from mild to severe. I know she is being an advocate for her child (as all mothers should!), but she needs to stop using her celebrity to give people false hope!

Corrections - when their immune system has not been altered or compromised by toxins (i.e., vaccines) a child can deal with these childhood dieseases just fine. Furthermore, how did most of us make it to adulthood without dying from these? Children that you hear become extremely ill from these already have a compromise immune system due to prior vaccines.

  42. teenyz says – reply to this

    742

    Re: jer

It means spread out the vaccines. Doctors/insurance companies prefer that set immunizations be given on this date/age, next set on this age/date. Most doctors claim that if parents were given a choice on when their kids get them - parents would be lax about returning. Insurance companies just prefer less well baby visits than more - it's cheaper. The theory about parents being lax is somewhat bogus - in that you can not sign your kids up to be around other kids (ie, daycare), unless all immunizations are caught up. So the risk of these kids creating widespread epidemic by not being vaccinated 'on time' is minimal at best - most predaycare kids are just home with mom/grandma and not exposed to a large population. Anyway - big group shots such as MMR - should be split up to be safe/safer. Mumps could be covered in one visit. when child ready, measles would come. And then rubella. Instead, the kids are given a cheaper/quicker/more convenient megawat dose at 15 months of age.

They may not show signs of autism but their immune system has been compromised with toxins… resulting in asthma, allergies, cancer, ADD, and who knows what else in the future. They may "appear" healthy but they have a bunch of chronic illnesses - which the same peds. that injected them with these poisons will gladly prescribe more meds. to treat. Its a win/win situation for big pharma. Make our kids chronically sick and they have a lifetime supply of customers depending on their toxic cocktails. AND the govmt has exempted them from any liability… what a sweet deal. You cannot inject desease/toxins and expect health. This is not a coincidence people… Its insane what is going on!

Anymore than this I agree could present a problem…but I am not a Doc. She is NOT a doctor or someone who has studied special education and disabilities like autism. Jenny McCarthy like many parents of children with autism, is looking for a reason why. Why my child? Unfortunately, even the experts have not found a cause for autism yet. That doesn't mean uneducated people can just go making accusations and start throwing around theories that have no evidence to support them.

  63. DaisyGirl says – reply to this

    763

    Re: what an idiot
Again, you're right, she is not a doctor. However, she has probably done more research on the topic of autism and special education then most doctors and educators who do not specialize in the treatment or education of kids with an ASD. Why is it so hard to understand that most parents of children on the spectrum have done extensive research and have a better understanding of the disorder than some professionals? With the rate of increase, many doctors are not up-to-date on all the latest and greatest…but parents are. I've found the parents of children with ASDs are a force to be reckoned with and can run circles around many "professionals." All JMO of course!

No kidding! Doctors have been conditioned to tell us 'crazy parents for having an opinion' ANYTHING they can conjure up to silence us. Most doctors I've run across - know next to nothing about autism. I actually had one tell me in the same sitting - that 'no, there's no link between vaccines and autism, it's all most likely genetic." Several minutes later, when I asked what signs I should look for in my daughter, so that I could catch it in her sooner than I did my son, his response was: "no, you don't need to be worried about your daughter. It's very rare that autism would happen twice within the same family." WTF? Hadn't he just claimed to me that it WAS genetic? Which is it doc? And did he not expect me to already know, that my daughter's chance of being autistic too went to the odds of 1/20 births? (4 years later she was diagnosed aspergers - no signs of autism in her, prior to me catching her up on vaccinations so she could start Pre-K)

Nick dear, you truly need to do your homework. When you get a vaccine you will get a pamphlet with the risks. (Not unlike a pamphlet for a prescription)

    776

I agree with you for the most part. Yes, the problem is all the mercury they use in vaccines. And for those that don't know, go research it before you start getting all judgmental. But, the amount of vaccines required in this country at such an alarming rate is ridiculous. No other western country comes anywhere near the amount of vaccines we require and they are not dying, getting sick, etc.
But, in regards to your universal healthcare opinion, I think the opposite. If we DID have universal healthcare, we wouldn't get all this vaccines because then the government would have to pay for it, and we all know how much they love to help us out here in this country. So, i don't agree with your stance against universal healthcare. But, i do believe that the more sick we are, the more stupid we are, the more loyal we are, and most importantly, the more drugs we will continue to buy, making a very small amount of people very, very rich. AND THATS WHAT IT ALL COMES DOWN TO DOESNT IT? Its always about money and the people in power who have it and want more.

Jenny is not against vaccines shes against giving so many at one time and children not being tested before getting shots. My son was dignosed with atisum oct. 2007. I read her book and I realized my son was showing alot of signs but I didn't want to admit to it. I do know that my son was learning to talk, follow directions, clapping his hands well progressing like he should until after he had gotten his shots at 21/2 yrs old then he stopped talking, wanted to be alone wouldn't hug us or look us in the eye staring off into space just alot of weird things. I didn't tell anyone I thought I seen signs of autism until after his 6th b-day and it was a doctor. We had him tested and the doc said autism. I started taking him to see a chropractor after 3 visits he started talking in full sentences, following directions and progressing in school. It may not help all children but I tell everyone now to at least give chropractic a try.

the most recent national academy of sciences report says there is insufficient evidence to DENY a correlation between the thimerisol in vaccines and neurological disorders; they say further study is needed and the immunization review board ordered all thimerisol removed from the vaccine supply as a preventative measure in 2007; But there are still old vaccines in the supply with this mercury containing additive in the supply before the NSA's recommendation–so all you researches saying there is no link are wrong or did not read the correct studies–Basically the scientist and doctors you all praise say they don't know if there is a link–

Vaccines don't save people. Education saves people. It's the education a person gets with the vaccine that saves them. My children are not vaccinated and they are so healthy. My mom wasn't vaccinated, neither was her brother, and both are very healthy.

Good for her! She has really kept her composure even in her passionate moments. She is a wonderful spokesperson for autism.

For those of you backing Jenny….you might want to reconsider. If any of you had actually read research on Autism you would know that there is no correlation between vaccinations and autism. Jenny is perpetuating this myth that is causing parents to not get their kids vaccinated that has lead to death in certain cases. She is a mom who is using her child's case and telling parents that if they do what she does, then their kids will be fine….this is not the case and it is giving parents false hope. Autism is a terrible condition and parents should be educated by professionals and not by an angry mom who is pointing fingers with no reason to back it up!

    Re: C
PLEASE! Many parents who have children with ASD do there research. For every study you find saying there is no connection between the two you can find one that says there is. In the recent Poling case, the vaccine court found that this little girl had a mitochondrial disorder that was exacerbated by vaccinations which then led to "autism-like" symptoms. I'm sorry…In my world "autism-like" might as well be autism. If ya got the symptoms, ya got the disorder. For you naysayers about a possible connection, you may want to read "Evidence of Harm." Compelling book supporting why more studies NOT headed by the CDC, NIH, or insert gov't agency here should be done. Again, not everyone is saying don't vaccinate. They're saying INFORMED CONSENT and/or LOOK AT REVISING THE VACCINATION SCHEDULE…

Re: questioneverything – It's interesting what you say about the media, because actually it is the media that has been one of the biggest pro vaccination causes autism supporters. The media only wants a good story and will skew the facts. Pout over the medial journals and the EVIDENCE that is out there. It's time to stop pointing fingers solely at vaccinations. We need to find a cause of autism and look at other avenues and factors. This debate needs to end already. The myth had been debunked by MULTIPLE research studies. So let's just find the REAL cause.

Unfortunately, though she is a strong advocate for her son, she is misguided nonetheless. Though some may believe science can not reveal all, there is absolutely NO empirical evidence to suggest that early vaccinations "cause" autism. Rather, there is a developmental link because at two years, the age which all these vaccinations have typically been completed, we expect toddlers to use their first words and then combine words. This is the point at which parents notice that something is certainly wrong with the development of their child. It is a false hope to believe that by ending vaccinations we would end autism. See autismspeaks.org for more information.

The reason that Autism is supposedly on the rise is because more people in education are aware of it and spot it quicker thus being able to offer the child more help quicker (early intervention is the key to help an autistic child cope). There is no cure for autism but the right intervention at an early age helps. I have 2 autistic child and work as a Teacher Assistant and I have noticed there are quite a few people of my own age range (30s to 40s) who are autistic but have never been diagnoised including myself!

Go Jenny! She did a great job, even with all the men trying to patronize and run her over! A great example of a person that uses her power as a celeb to really do good and change things instead of merely collecting money (for herself) or posing for photographers at charity events (to polish her image and make even more money for herself). She really does take the bull by the horns on this one.
I have a cousin who got autism soon after receiving "the normal" vaccinations, as in too many shots at the same time and too soon. The problem is real, the solution should be just to simply adjust the vaccination program so the body can handle it, but there's NOOOO way that's gonna happen. The so-called experts are worried about the HERD IMMUNITY (yes, in their eyes, we are just a herd of…what? People? Animals? Specimens? Guinea pigs for their studies?) and not willing to change their views. We need strong people like Jenny (with enough drive, fearlessness and willpower) to take action and speak on behalf of those who can't. "Those who can't" being the autistic children who have shut down because of something that was meant to protect them and what they nor their parents had no way of deciding on.

Your work is not done in vain, Jenny!
