I have never commented on your site and i love perezhilton.com and am a fan of Perez but I don't think that your comments factual. I had WLS (weight loss surgery) I didn't get the bypass because it was more dangerous and I wanted to be more natural so I got the band. It is just as hard as dieting because you still have to diet. I meet with a nutritionist every other week as is required by the doctor who performed surgery. Although I have lost 60 lbs in the last 9 months it was not easy doing so and the more you lose the harder it gets. Gastric bypass is a little easier but still not easy. I could have lost weight by getting meals delivered but I couldn't afford it. My insurance covered the surgery so I got that. This was after many years of dieting and using all sorts of weight loss products. I applaud you for trying to get healthy and in shape but don't mock the people who are trying to do the same using alternative methods.

My husband just had lapband surgery. His doc wouldn't okay gastric bypass, but approved the lapband. It was drastic, but people who have lost and regained a lot of weight have stretched their stomachs and never feel full. This is not the "easy" way out. this is an option. Many nurses have done it and I think it will become more common.

Ok, seriously, before you go basing gastric bypass, research it alittle. Granted, Carnie was really the first celeb who was very public about it, and has since put on weight, but that doesn't mean every other person who has had this surgery does the same. I had it, for medical reasons, and i feel wonderful now. My medical issues are all gone, no more medications for it, and, my energy is wonderful. Haven't gained back anything, down over 130 pounds. And no, it wasn't an easy solution. I actually had some complications in the begining, and my whole lifestyle has changed, period. It takes alot on a person to learn how this tool works, and not everyone can handle it–but, again, not everyone fails at it either. So, if Jason has had the surgery, i wish him the best of luck, and hope it's successful for him!!

I had gastric bypass in 2000 and have never gained back a pound. It is painful, difficult and a lot of work. To get the weight off, keep it off and look good is a full time job. It is sort of like being an addict - I am always (in my head) a fat person that struggles to stay a healthy weight each and every day. Shame on you Perez.

This guy looks great and I had gastric bypass and if you think its the easy way, go and try it yourself….its one of the hardest things I have ever done and I have maintained my weight for 2 years…..and you don't even know if he had it, but if he did, good for him and if he didn't, good for him…either way he did something about it, neither of which is easy…..not hating on you Perez, I love you…but please don't say its not healthy…not healthy is weighing over 300 pounds eating shit…you can't eat fried foods or sugary foods after g.b….you get violently ill if you do…its a life long decision….i still love you, but have a little more love for us g.b. patients…its not easy when you are puking up every meal you have eaten for the past 2 weeks and you lose half your hair…..so not easy or fun, but still the best thing I have ever done! =)

Although I'm sure he did it because the skinny bitches were starting to turn away his greasy ass, gastric bypass has a tremenndddous advantage over regular dieting and exercise for some people. For those who are older and don't have the years it takes to lose 100lbs+ through diet and exercise, gastric bypass provides an option to quickly lose the weight and start planning a new, healthier lifestyle. The bottom line is that obesity kills and however people choose to lose the weight should be okay, as long as it's not detrimental to their health, which gastric bypass (usually) isn't.
Sorry for the essay, but I have pretty strong feelings about this because of my mother's current situation.

Perez i love your website. But i had to comment about what you said. I am a Gastric Bypass patient. Let me tell you it is not a easy surgery. I had before surgery ate right and was excercising and still having a hard time. True if your not truely ready to change your life then this surgery isnt for you, as it is a tool to help you lose it. But it is the not the answer to keep it off. You have to work on it. And when you dont you gain just like anyone else. I have three years out and still doing great. I was 273 pounds, and now i am 150. I could not have done it with out the surgery. It was an amazing thing for me.
If it was so easy to lose weight, you and I would be thin Perez. Carnie Wilson was told she would die without the surgery. She's in the public eye and is so sweet and honest about her struggle. Perez, as a gastric bypass patient, I have to tell you that it is NOT the easy way out, trust me. I lost nearly 200 pounds post-op and have probably gained and lost 1,000 before I had the surgery. But, unlike people who do it "naturally" there were tremendous emotional issues as well. I did not get to nearly 400 pounds without being a food addict. I equate it to taking a heroin addict "cold turkey" - NOT easy, but being a person who was borderline diabetic, borderline hypertensive, narrowing vertibrae space, and a myriad of other complications thisclose - it definitely saved my life. I would do it again tomorrow if I had to and I would recommend it to anyone who was ready for it. Not an easy decision or an easy process or an easy "happily ever after". But so worth it.
