I just want to state that gastric bypass is not the easy way out…it takes a lot of work to prepare yourself and to take care of yourself for the surgery…sayiing it is easy is just wrong
I had gastric bypass surgery and I tried for years to lose the weight a "healthy way." In fact I was so addicted to losing weight that I at one point had an eating disorder. So how about not being critical of a surgery you obviously do not understand since you have no idea how hard it is to adjust to life post-surgery.
Stomach tissue stretches. Most regain weight lost from gastric bypass surgery because they have already trained their body and brain to ignore feelings of fullness and satiety. They will continue to eat too much and stretch their new, small stomach to larger proportions again.
Perez you should try some gastric bypass yourself and get a face transplant in Paris. You are beeeeyond busted!

Actually, gastric bypass is not the easy way out. You have to give up a lot, and deal with the leftover problems. After that, you will reach a certain point where you can eat more again, and then it is up to you to lose the rest of the weight and stay in shape.
If he has been big his whole life, then I see this more as a second chance. If you have been the big kid your whole life, it is a lot more hard to get in shape.
If you gain back weight after gastric bypass, then that is your fault for letting yourself go back into bad habits, but at least (in my opinion) it is a lot more easy to stay in shape if you are already in better shape to begin with.
I say: Congrats to him for making the choice to be more healthy.

First of all, FATASS, Gastric Bypass surgery is NOT an "easy solution." I had one 8 years ago because I could not do it "the slow, natural and healthy way." It has been anything but easy! I lost 110 lbs, and in 8 years, I have only gained back 5 of those pounds. However, I can no longer eat many of my favorite foods, and have to be very, very careful of what I do eat. I have to make sure every calorie counts. That sounds like a regular diet, doesn't it? Being physically restricted from eating ourselves to death is sometimes the only thing that will work for a person with "issues." Plus, I get to wear this giant zipper scar on my front for the rest of my life. YAY! Basically, if I hadn't had the surgery, I would be dead by now. So HOW DARE YOU say something so fucking ignorant and insensitive. You fat fuck, why don't you take your own damn advice before you start telling everyone else what is and isn't the easy way out! I think you owe thousands of people an apology! You demand sensitivity and political correctness from everyone else, let's see you act like a man and APOLOGIZE FOR YOUR UNCARING STATEMENT!

Love ya Perez- but don't go hatin' on gastric bypass patients & lumping us all in together. Although this is a "last resort" proceedure, it can be an literal life saver for those of us who have spent yrs trying to lose weight "safely & naturally." Negative comments from "folks with a voice" who don't really know enough about it to talk about it w/any real accuracy only stigmatize those of us who have had it. There is no easy solution to chronic overweight (I'm sure you too understand) - even with gasteric bypass, you still have to diet, exercise & work hard to maintain a healthy weight & lifestyle. Carnie Wilson has admitted to a drinking problem (& to a lot more underlying problems as well). But did you forget about Star Jones? (I can't stand her, but she seems to be doing well, which I have to respect- of course, she could still stand to loose 180 lbs of her girly "husband's" dead weight!). I doubt most of these celebs have ever had to commit to anything long term & tend to be very self indulgent. In the real world, though, gasteric bypass means enorlling in the best hospital run program you can find, attending support group meetings monthly & a lifetime commitment to your health. It's a lot of work that's even more difficult than the "safe & natural" weight loss methods that I've tried over 20 yrs before having the surgery- but for me, & for a lot of folks- it was the best that we could do for our health!

Not surprised that a bunch of couch potatoes are on here! Bypass isn't easy, but it has a lot of problems people don't think about. They've had 2 episodes recently on Oprah discussing this - a large % of people wind up with alcohol, sex, drug or other addictions. Basically it's like trading food for another addiction. Unless you treat the cause of the addiction, it doesn't work and in fact can be worse. And Perez doesn't need to be jealous…through his own hard work, he will look great in a few months…
You have no idea how disappointing it is to hear someone with your media outreach call gastric bypass "the easy way out". After struggling with my weight for 25 yrs I finally made one of the toughest decisions in my life to do this surgery. Foryou to down someone for doing something to make themselves a healthier person you should be ashamed! We all can't have personal trainers comped to us in the real world and this Jason Davis may be able to afford those things but maybe that just wasn't working. Gastic bypass surgery is by no means the "easy" way out… its a very painful and difficult experience (MUCH worse than dieting), one that is usually taken in light of potential health problems. So maybe give this guy some credit for putting his health first?

Being at a morbidly obese or obese weight takes 25 years off of an individuals life. There is a less than 5% chance of being able to loose the amount of weight to get you to a healthy body weight. With surgery, 80-90% of people loose the weight necessary to add those years back onto their life. Do you even have a fucking clue what it's like post op from this surgery? The amount of pain you're in? The strict diet you have to follow? The nausea? I don't really think you have the right to say whether or not someone should have done it the natural way. Sometimes it's a very difficult thing to do and this surgery has helped many people. As an overweight person like yourself you would think you have some sympathy for those with weight problems.

Shame on you! Some people apt for surgery after years of failed diets. It is not the easy way out. it is a life changing surgery. People like Carnie and other have complications, babies and other things that happen that compromise their weight loss. However, there are hundreds of others who have had their lives saved through surgery.

Perez, you're a complete fuck-knuckle. IF YOU KNEW ANYTHING ABOUT BARIATRIC SURGERY - whether a lap band procedure or a gastric bypass, you'd know that these were not simply quick and easy fixes. It's a huge lifestyle change and your eating habits also change post surgery as well and often the person is morbidly obese with other co-morbities (such as diabetes, sleep apnea etc) and the decision is often made as a last ditch attempt.
And if watching one's diet and losing weight were that easy for everyone then why are you still such a fat ass? At least he's choosing to do something about it and again, it's not the easy quick fix that your ignorant ass seems to think it is. Educate yourself before opening that slack jaw of yours, moron.
