What is wrong with people!! why are they so selfish! This LESBIAN couple is going to ruin a child's life! Do you know how badly this kid is going to get teased, harassed, beaten up by punk kids! If they really wanted to live out this weird pregnancy then do it QUIETLY so the child doesn't get singled out when older. Hello there are millions of orphan kids in this world, ADOPT one and do something other than being selfish

I'm happy that this couple is happy and that they love eachother so much. I don't see this as a big deal… This "MAN" is still a "WOMEN". If you where born as a women and decide to have sex changing operations and such to look like a guy, you're still a women. You aren't a man unless you were born as a man and vice versa. So people quit acting like this is such a big deal that a man is pregnant…. He/she isn't really man!!!!!!!!

Well duh there's going to be a divorce rate. How about we look at the few legal gay marriages that have taken place, a child brought up in that setting is bound to have some issuses. Issues doesn't have to mean something is wrong with the child, but instead once that child reaches the age to go to school and realizes that "daddies" don't have babies nad "mommies" do the child is going to have ISSUES with what to accecpt as the truth. Ahem. Those with hyperthyroidism are usually very thin b/c every bodily system is in overdrive. Oprah said she had/has hypothyroidism which causes all bodily fuctions to slow down thereby resulting in weight gain.

This isn't selfish… like Thomas said, he is a person who deserves to have a child. This is a kid who will have 2 loving parents, that are so excited to bring her into the world, if anything she'll grow up a happy and loving child who is more accepting of people.

I think Thomas is still very much a woman. He may have male urges but his voice is so not that of a man. Although I find it very strange, her daughters who are up close and personal seem to have accepted the situation. Obviously they seem completely normal and realize their mother has found happiness with thomas. How their daughter accepts all of this remains to be seen.

This is not a man about to have a baby it is a woman who takes hormones and surgically changed her body. It is a she not a he.
This is so serendipitous. Not quite two months ago, a biologically female friend of mine came to me and told me she was contemplating transitioning to a man. However, I knew that she wanted to have children. I had suggested she live as a man, go by a gender neutral or masculine name, and have her breasts removed if that's what she wanted. But I stressed that she/he should keep her reproductive organs for the time being. I know that it's difficult if not impossible for transgendered individuals to adopt. Her mother and I sat down with her, and explained that we support whatever decision she makes, though it will be quite difficult for the public to accept her when she becomes a pregnant man. We wanted to be sure she was psychologically prepared for what will happen. I think in the next few years, she will be another "pregnant man". I want to thank Thomas for going public with his story. He has given strength to others contemplating it.

First off, most of you ignorant slags need to stop trying to play armchair psychologist. You aren't intelligent enough to be a psychologist. You don't have the credentials. You don't have the training. You don't even have the knowledge to pretend these two are "messed up".
Second off, re: hormones — his hormone levels, according to his OB-GYN, are normal for a pregnancy. The ovaries, which he clearly still has, produce the progesterone. The uterus was intact, allowing for implantation. No amount of testosterone will change these two things taking place. Additionally, according to the same TRAINED professional, he has been off the testosterone for years prior to conception.
Even then, here's a real lesson — women still produce testosterone. They do so throughout pregnancy as well. Most likely, the increased dosage which resulted in hair growth has been leveled off and returned to a static point. As such, there's no danger to the child.
Finally, and most importantly, none of you have the right to scream that "He is a woman, stop calling him a man!" He is clearly transgendered and has gone through the steps to change to male. The only thing that differs a male from a female is what is below the belt and what is in the mind. Genders are cognitive as much as physical.
I see a loving and happy couple. They really want a baby and have planned for it. They are doing way more then most couples when it comes to love, commitment, and babies. I don't see how this is a big deal with so many people. People act like this truly is a man pregnant, but infact it's a person born as a women that had sex changing operations to look more like a guy. I have to admit this interesting to see how this couple is dealing with this and living thier lives. But one thing that I wish Oprah would have discussed (what the child will have to go through and are they ready for any questions/ feelings the child may have about this)… After all this is a innocent child here that didn't ask to be born. Although this is physically a woman, by law, he has become a man. So Oprah and Perez are not wrong, they are going by what he is by law. I think this is a nice story. At first I was very confused but after watching it, it makes perfect sense and I am happy they can have a baby. I do, however, have a few questions. After the baby is born, it will have to drink from formula and bottles instead of breast feeding, correct? And, can it still be a natural birth or does it have to be a c-section?

This is one of the best stories I have ever heard. It's a little "out there" and very "non-traditional" but these two people, this family, have more courage than 99% of the people who would rather criticize them. No matter the situation or circumstances, this pregnancy is a beautiful thing. For him to even have the GUTS to do this for his family speaks tons about the man he is. For him (them) to take it public was even more brave and extremely smart. They deserve all the happiness everyone else deserves… it's a shame not everyone can have an open mind. America is a beautiful place to live, and this is exactly why, a country full of generally good, open minded people, we accept people for who they are, we love them…anyone who doesnt isn't really an American, they are ignorant scum.
I'm willing to bet there are more people (children included) who are in therapy who grew up in "traditional" homes than there are those who grew up with GLBT parents. Problems in families have NOTHING to do with what parts you were born with or who we've chosen as spouses and lovers… problems have to do with intolerance. To say the child is going to be "messed up" is simply ignorant… there are more "traditional" folks out there with many more problems. If the biggest obstacle this child faces is the fact that his father is transgendered, I am happy for her. There are a LOT more problems in this world than people caring about each other. There are parents out there drinking, drugging, beating and raping their OWN CHILDREN…. most of these parents are most likely straight and "normal." I'd take a gay dad, lesbian mom or transgendered parent's love over anything ANY DAY. Wake up and care about others.
